Went in with low expectations, but I must say I haven't played anything this unfun in a long time.

Puzzle games with a musical/rhythmical element can turn out like Lumines -- or, at the other end of the quality spectrum, you might get Turba.

The matching mechanics are deeply, fundamentally flawed in that the game expects you to select a large number of blocks, individually (the only quick-select shortcut is so situational it's useless), precisely, in a limited time, while the level layout shifts. It takes effort to get it this wrong!

(It's also terrible from an aesthetic standpoint, but does it even matter at that point?)

Yyyyyyeah, no, it's not great. It's a use-your-own-music game, but it only uses the beat (and depends a lot of your song having a recognisable beat). And the puzzle mechanics are pretty boring. Also, it's really small.

Good concept, terrible execution. Beat detection is a core gameplay element and is implemented so poorly that the game is often unplayable.

Turba is a puzzle game that try to mix youre music with some match making blocks. But will it succeed ? Turba has to be the worst puzzle game on steam without even trying. The game is a match four block type game. You choose a track and the game mode and thats it. The game doesnt even really explain what youre supposed to do so its up to you to understand what to do. The game is boring and not really worth youre money or time. Overall theres nothing more to say about this game. Turba is one of the worst puzzle games that you can buy on steam for 4 bucks just skip this and get something else. Also the game is barely stable to play. Just Skip this one. Turba gets a 2/10

A rhythm-puzzle game? Turba sounded really neat when I first saw it. I was itching to try it out. However, I was sadly disappointed.

The #1 thing that destroys this game is its abysmal beat detection. Because the rhythm of the song determines how fast the blocks spawn/move and allows you to get "beat bonuses" for clearing blocks to the beat of the song, it's a key component of the game. Unfortunately, the game often skips beats and detects beats when there are none, completely disrupting the flow of play.

A few of the other game mechanics seem a bit off as well. "Beat blocks" are supposed to turn all surrounding blocks black after they count down and explode, but there has been at least one instance of a block being left out of an explosion. As far as I can tell, there is very little discernable difference from the three difficulty levels, and it's possible to play songs that are impossible to lose on, even on the hardest difficulty.

If Turba offered custom BPM and beat offset settings per song (features other software is quite easily able to do), this game would probably be redeemable. But with the main mechanic of the game broken, it's hardly worth spending your money on.
