What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“The initial release is a minimum viable product (MVP), that has enough features to be considered as such.
The important thing in this release is being able to play a game from start to finish, with convincing AI and the 2 player element good enough to have 2 people want to play for 10-20 overs each. This is a casual game, so please consider that when viewing the product.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“The game will be in early access for between 6-9 months. That gives me time to create decent depth, not rushed to market. This also means I can analyse and work with suggestions from the community without rushing.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Consider this the MVP release. Currently, there are many features over and above other games of the same type, but that does not mean it's good enough to be considered final.

Some ideas for adding depth to the game:

* Online multiplayer
* Team Selection
* Having 2 batters out on the field, building partnerships and the score
* Detailed scoreboard
* Bowling depth
* Power ups and other fun game elements”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The early access version is under consistent feature iteration.

Current features:

* 1 or 2 players
* Difficulty settings
* VR Batting
* Bowling with customisable options for the desktop player
* Fielding AI
* Many Steam Achievements and Leaderboard items
* Action replays”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The price will stay the same but I will regularly add the game to steam sales”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Feedback is essential. This will help me build out the features coming up and also improve the game-play for stuff I have missed.
I wont ever be trying to build a new Don Bradman cricket or the next triple A cricket simulation. There are teams at big companies with time and specific skills who will do this and charge accordingly.

I do want to make a well fleshed out casual game that is fun to play either by yourself or with a mate so I welcome the feedback to improve the game.”

About This Game

Born from 2 mates drinking beers, watching cricket, and believing they could do better than the spuds currently doing the rounds in world cricket, Spud Cricket VR is a Virtual Reality cricket game for the HTC Vive. Play 5,10 OR 20 overs against a mate, 1 innings at a time. Simple fun, slog it hard, casual cricket game. You will love smacking the bowler over the fence as you try to be the next Davey Warner! But you wont. Your a spud.

Features include:

- Single or local multiplayer modes
- 3 types of matches - 5, 10 or 20 over match.
- 3 difficulty levels.
- Use of the HTC Vive hand controller for realistic batting action.
- Bat either left or right handed.
- The bat has a sweet spot. Time those shots for the runs. Haptic feedback will tell the story.
- AI fielders that adjust to your big shots.
- Not all batters were born equal. As you go down the batting list, so does the skill of your batters.
- Customisable line, length and speed for the bowler player in local multiplayer - Suprise your friend batting with a sudden slower delivery or a yorker.
- Double up with fielding customisation in local multiplayer - dont just bowl it different, plan your fielding setup as well and entice the batter into the big hit, only to get caught.
- In game crowd noise and reaction to shots, wickets and other moments.
- Scoreboards both in game and for the desktop with detailed batter information.
- Multiple views for Batter and bowler.
- Action replays! You can repeatedly watch the big 6 you just smashed off your friends bowling!
