This DLC is for all the military fans of the game. The new building Bunker, is a useful addition to the game which enhances the gameplay. It does not require generals.

Tropico 4: Junta Military DLC Review

Junta Military is the first DLC for Tropico 4. This DLC contains one costume for your avatar, one new building, one new extra mission, one new trait, one new island and some decorations.

The extra mission is "New Sparta". You will have to build a military society in the island of Almas Perdidas. General Rodriguez declared war on a neighboring island. General Rodriguez will play a big part in this mission, as he will give you various objectives throughout the mission. You will receive some cash from each militarists in the island. This mission has many references to the movie 300. You will be fighting some waves of enemies throughout the mission. In my opinion, this mission makes a good use of the weak military part of the game as combat is quite frequent in this mission. In the end, you will be defending from a full on assault from the enemy island. This mission is quite challenging in my opinion, and it should take you about an hour or more to finish.

The new building is Bunker, a building that can house 5 soldiers. It is much more expensive version of the guard station. But, unlike guard stations, bunkers don't require generals. Bunkers costs $6000 while guard stations costs $1500. I personally prefer guard stations over bunkers. But they could be very useful in some occasions such as in early game, if you don't have enough college graduates to create a general, bunkers could be a great solution. The veteran trait gives El Presidente better combat skills and improved militarists respect which I don't think the it has much use other than this mission. The other stuffs like costumes, decorations, and Island are nice to have. While I think this DLC has a good mission, I don't think this dlc is worth the full price unless you are planning to buy the collector's bundle, as I don't use its content frequently.

Junta Military was the first DLC released for Tropico 4. Yep, one of many of tiny DLCes, with one mission, one character trait, one costume, one building and a bunch of decorations.

The mission is actually quite interesting and isn't so easy. You have to build a fully militarized regime on the island, even including Martial Law edict. While military part is weak in this game and actual fights between soldiers and rebel look clunky and even funny, it's still quite fresh to go for a military approach. Because in normal game no one would do that. Because it's easier to make people happy in kind and democratic approach. And now you will deal with people unhappy over liberty and lower production.
Still not too hard. Mission objective force you to have enough army before winning against rebels.

As for building, it houses six soldiers with no generals. Yes, store info got it wrong about "five soldiers". It's nice for building army to actually fight rebels. Militarist faction still will demand generals.

Tropico becomes pay-to-win with this overpowered bunker building, giving people who buy this no reason to ever use the guard station again. The developers could've made a new building with an original effect but decided to just break one already in the game by making a more powerful version of it and then adding a rip-off price tag.
