About This Game

The world is changing and Tropico is moving with the times - geographical powers rise and fall and the world market is dominated by new players with new demands and offers - and you, as El Presidente, face a whole new set of challenges. If you are to triumph over your naysayers you will need to gain as much support from your people as possible. Your decisions will shape the future of your nation, and more importantly, the size of your off-shore bank account.
Tropico 4 expands on the gameplay of the previous game with new political additions ∼ including more superpowers to negotiate with, along with the ability to elect ministers into power to help get your more controversial policies passed. But remember to keep your friends close and your enemies closer as everyone has an agenda! Your political mettle will be thoroughly tested, as new natural disasters will have the populace clamoring for you and your cabinet to help them recover from some of the worst Mother Nature can dish out.
Tropico 4 also brings a new level of social interaction with the addition of Facebook and Twitter integration. Post comments on Twitter direct from the game and have updates go out when you complete missions or unlock new achievements. You can even take screenshots of your burgeoning island and post your dream creation on your Tropico 4 Facebook page and compare your interactive Dictator Ranking on the online leaderboards.

Key Features:

  • New campaign consisting of 20 missions on 10 new maps.
  • 20 new buildings including Stock Exchange, Shopping mall, Aqua Park and a Mausoleum to El Presidente.
  • Six new interactive disasters including volcanoes, droughts and tornadoes.
  • Council of Ministers – selected citizens to ministerial posts in the government to help push through your more controversial decisions.
  • National Agenda – receive objectives from Tropican factions, foreign geopolitical powers or opportunities relating to current island events such as ongoing disasters.
  • Facebook and Twitter integration.
  • Screenshot gallery – take screenshots of your tropical paradise and share on your Facebook page.
  • Trading system – import and export goods to/from other nations to boost your economy or production.

This was a great game. I enjoyed it because it's basically SimCity, but with a campaign. It's pretty unique. However aside from it being a great game, I was almost finished with the campaign, until the game froze, turned white, and stopped responding. I restarted the game to continue playing, but to my surprise my save game was gone. Corrupted. All of my progress. Lost. I hope this unknown bug doesn't exist in Tropico 5, but it sure has stained my views on Tropico.

I enjoyed the campaign while it lasted. Fun city sim for the most part.

I'm not sure which Tropico is better. You have your choice now of 3, 4, or 5. I would recommend just buying one of these because they are all similar. I will say that I think 4 is better than 3.

You might spot this game on sale for $5 and its well worth buying. This game is humorous and gives you all kinds of things to micromanage and sculp your perfect nation. I definitely recommend this for any RTS fan or even if this just looks interesting to you. You will enjoy being El Presidente.

Tropico has had so many installments and seperate DLC that the whole series has become a joke.

Tropico 4 is better than Tropico 5 in my opinion, because it's more focused in it's original goal. Tropico by nature isn't supposed to be a city builder, it's supposed to be a Political game, in other words it's a game where you literally make your own nation. T4 gives you much more control and fine tuning to do these things.

Sure, T5 looks better, and it's easier to place buildings in perfect placement, but it fails at it's core concept.

I don't explicitly reccomend either game, but if I had to reccomend one, it'd be T4. It's cheaper, it's more true to the core concept of the series, and it doesn't have an astronomical amount of terrible nickle and diming DLC tacked onto it like T5 does.

I thoroughly enjoyed playing this game. The graphics are pretty good and the micro management is both fun and exciting. It’s not often that you get a turn based strategy game as good as this. Would play again.

I liked this game. You create a city, tyrannically rule the people, but at the same time you have the option to bring it up into prosperity. The sarcasm is hilarious, too.

PS: I've played Tropico 5 a while back, and I didn't notice much of a difference. Except for the price tag, of course.

Tropico 4 is everything I wanted out of a city management sim. There are random disasters, coups, uprisings, and what have you, but if you are good at managing your resources then you don't have as much to worry about. The build tool is really easy to use. The graphics are quite lovely.

Immigrant crisis.
Crime skyrockets
Free healthcare system is bankrupting economy
Homeless are flooding the streets
Not enough unskilled jobs on island to sustain population

Idea!

Build Labor Camps
Quintuple police force
Round up immigrants
Force them to farm tobacco
#WeSellCigarsNow
Economy skyrockets
Citizens are ecstatic
Crime is non-existent

Fun, has replay, has some depth needed to get a bit obsessive. Find more enjoyable than City Skylines. If you like strategy you'll like this (I do).

This is a funny and entertaining city building/strategy game. Even though there are three time/speed settings, this game does take a good deal of patience.

If you at my achievements, you can see that:
1. I unlocked a huge chunk of achievements in a single day
2. I have achievement for Modern Times, even though I haven't bough it (at the time of this writing)

Well, that's because I used to pirates this game. AND I LOVE EVERY BIT OF IT. I LOVE IT SO MUCH I FEELS GUILTY AND MAKES ME BUY IT. I'm planning to buy all the DLCs and Modern Times in the next sale to finally redeems my sins.

Now I'm going to sit on that corner and look thoughtful.

I really enjoyed Tropico 4, even more than 5. Funny, crazy and yet very relaxing experience.
Love the style and theme, beautifull islands and graphics, awesome game machanics.

I havent played a city sim where the people try to overthrough me, good thing i have my secert police and my overly paid bodyguards.

Big thumbs up form me, if you are in the city building games.
