About This Game

The last remaining memories fade away into darkness. Your mind is a mess and only a feeling of being hunted remains. You must escape.
Awake...
Amnesia: The Dark Descent, a first person survival horror. A game about immersion, discovery and living through a nightmare. An experience that will chill you to the core.
You stumble through the narrow corridors as the distant cry is heard.
It is getting closer.
Explore...
Amnesia: The Dark Descent puts you in the shoes of Daniel as he wakes up in a desolate castle, barely remembering anything about his past. Exploring the eerie pathways, you must also take part of Daniel's troubled memories. The horror does not only come from the outside, but from the inside as well. A disturbing odyssey into the dark corners of the human mind awaits.
A sound of dragging feet? Or is your mind playing tricks on you?
Experience...
By using a fully physically simulated world, cutting edge 3D graphics and a dynamic sound system, the game pulls no punches when trying to immerse you. Once the game starts, you will be in control from the beginning to the end. There are no cut-scenes or time-jumps, whatever happens will happen to you first hand.
Something emerges out of the darkness. It's approaching. Fast.
Survive...
Amnesia: The Dark Descent throws you headfirst into a dangerous world where danger can lurk behind every corner. Your only means of defense are hiding, running or using your wits.
Do you have what it takes to survive?

Dark, creepy, and deep. Amnesia: The Dark Descent takes you exactly where you don't want to go...farther and farther underground. I really enjoyed playing through the story, which took me about seven hours. The game is pretty creepy at first (I recommend lights off and a headset for the full effect), but as you progress the monster is the same. There are letters and diaries scattered throughout the game to collect. I had fun reading them and found them very interesting because they explain how the character got into the situation he is in. Overall, Amnesia: The Dark Descent was a good game and one worth playing, especially if you like horror and eerie atmospheres.

This game is amazing. I do think this game really got the best parts of horror games. I love how the insanity works, its always fun when you are already on edge once you've seen a monster but once you start going crazy its gets even creepier. The use of the lantern being limited so you don't always feel safe is a great feature, because it makes you think and try to conserve how much you use it. There is so much I really enjoy about the game but I'd rather not continue on. In conclusion I think the game is worth the money completely even though it is some what of an older game.

If there was any game I could wipe from my memory as to experience it anew again and again, it would be The Dark Descent. Despite having a thousand let's-plays on YouTube for every hair on your head, I still believe this game is hideously underrated.

Amnesia: The Dark Descent has nailed down the most important quality in any horror game in a masterful way that I have not seen since Resident Evil 4, and that quality is that the fear associated with gameplay is carefully trickled into the player's head through the musical score, voice acting and environments.

The voice acting is tastefully theatrical, yet believable. Sam Mowry's talent as the voice of our antagonist goes a long way toward paintaing an image of a formidable, developed foe. Richard Topping's voice as the protagonist potently reflects the player's fear while still managing to pull us into a false sense of safety in the game's many story flashbacks (oops, spoilers!), before shoving us back into the crucible of terror that is this game.

The graphics are as enjoyable as they are cohesive. As mentioned in the commentary playthrough available to the player, a great deal of consideration was invested in assuring that the visual elements of the game would add to the experience. I will omit detail on the topic for the sake of avoiding spoilers.

The ominous nature of the musical score is unparalleled. Whether the environment was meant to instill a peaceful mood in one of the hub levels or to generate a horrifying ambience to leave you looking over your shoulder in your own home, it does it right.

This game is horrifying and beautiful. Synonyms to be sure... if you're a true horror fan.

Easily a 9 out of 10 game. Avid horror fans have no excuse not to purchase or wishlist this item. Those who are rightfully skeptical of the horror genre as a whole have the entirety of my enthusiasm: Give this game a shot.

♥♥♥♥ my pants in the menu screen.
Proceeded with the instructions and played in complete dark, alone and with headphontes. ♥♥♥♥ my pants again.
Lights on, sound off. Monster poped out. Outcome the same.
Game is good, not that scary. Got used to it after a while. Stupid lightbulb broke, complete dark and steam message recieved. Running out of the pants..

All in all. Story is great.

10/10 would ♥♥♥♥ my pants again.

Too bad I will never play horror game again..

Haunting atmosphere with riveting yet disturbing story which is well worth following. Even someone who doesn't like the horror genre (like me) can really "enjoy" this game.
