The Manila Major Qualifiers are just around the corner and by next week the final four qualifying teams will take their places alongside the 12 invites.Running May 3rd - 6th, the Regional Qualifiers will determine which remaining team in each region will earn a chance to do battle on the main stage of The Manila Major from June 7th - 12th.

About This Game

Dota is a competitive game of action and strategy, played both professionally and casually by millions of passionate fans worldwide. Players pick from a pool of over a hundred heroes, forming two teams of five players. Radiant heroes then battle their Dire counterparts to control a gorgeous fantasy landscape, waging campaigns of cunning, stealth, and outright warfare.

Irresistibly colorful on the surface, Dota is a game of infinite depth and complexity. Every hero has an array of skills and abilities that combine with the skills of their allies in unexpected ways, to ensure that no game is ever remotely alike. This is one of the reasons that the Dota phenomenon has continued to grow. Originating as a fan-made Warcraft 3 modification, Dota was an instant underground hit. After coming to Valve, the original community developers have bridged the gap to a more inclusive audience, so that the rest of the world can experience the same core gameplay, but with the level of polish that only Valve can provide.

Get a taste of the game that has enthralled millions.

As someone who's spent over 1200 hours on this game, I think I have a reputable say in whether or not it's good.

Imagine, if you will, a game where there's a huge roster of unique characters each with their own abilities which they can use and combine with other team mates special abilities to fight against other characters. Your character builds gradually like an RPG, upgrading abilities or your skills, buying items and dispensable items. Imagine hour long games where you will fight hard to ambush and use as much team synergy as you can to sync the perfect kills. Sounds great, doesn't it?

Unfortunately, like most times, it's too good to be true. The game is filled with nothing but exploiters who find the sleeziest work-arounds and cheapest gimmicks to try and troll not only the enemy, but their own team as well. You'll be partnered up with people who for the most part, want to win, but ultimately because of a lack of proper communication, either end up getting killed or getting you killed.

There's constant balance changes that completely change the way the game works, meaning every time you just start to get used to the games mechanics and hero's, it changes them in such ways that you have to learn how to play all over again. You'll spend dozens of hours trying to learn a hero, only for his core attributes to change in a huge patch 4 or 5 months later.

Among other problems besides the constant game-changing patches and the disconnect between team work, you're also dealing with a generally toxic community. You might say "well I can solve that team work problem by getting 4 more friends!" Good luck. If you manage to find friends who don't hate DOTA 2, you'll soon find them hating you, or you hating them as you become aggressive and lash out. I've seen it happen dozens of time, not just from people in my own groups, but when I've been on a team with a couple people in queu together. The match hinges so desperately on player kills that someone might die due to a stupid mistake, only for his friend to lambast him for it, not solving anything in the process, as they continue to devolve into arguments rather than adapting their strategies and countering the enemy team.

I would say it's a community problem that's mostly associated with DOTA 2, but some of the hero's have genuinely broken mechanics. Before the latest 6.87 patch, Outworld Devourer's mana drain was broken beyond comprehension, capable of dealing 400 damage per hit mid game. No one hero can even come close to that. That's a 3 hit kill for 90% of the hero's within that time frame, and it's PURE damage, meaning armor does nothing against it.

You might say "well then pick a counter!" But that's just it. If I'm going to be spending 40-60 minutes in a single match with one character, I don't WANT to pick someone that's purely a counter, that's not fun. In Counter Strike, if someone picks an AWP, I can buy a few flashbangs or smoke grenades, but I can still pick my primary and secondary weapons. If someone gets a tank or helicopter in Battlefield, I can switch to using the rocket launcher for a couple minutes. I'm not spending an hour by picking a counter for someone elses pick just so that I'm not having a miserable time from dying constantly and getting yelled at by my team mates saying "GET GOOD", "YOU SUCK", while they die to him minutes later and then pretend like it isn't the games own balance problems that are at fault. That isn't a specific instance, but it's a general idea of what will happen to you, and why many people hate DOTA 2.

The economy of the game is also tragic. Suffering from the same fate as TF2 and CSGO. Ultimately it just turns into who can show off the flashiest character.

I'd be lying if I said I did have fun in all those hours. Finding that match where no one gets angry and we all just have a fun time and say "GG" at the end of the match, no ill-will towards anyone and no cheap tactics or broken bull-♥♥♥♥ swaying the match unfairly in either direction. But those instances are so few and far between, the only memories you'll be left with after playing are just frustration at the game and at your team mates.

Dota is Life. Dota is Love. And I think I will stop playing. Dota is brutal, messy and very russian- but you have to play it yourself to see that and to draw the conclusion that it is better to stop. Thumb up, you will see why.

This is a very well made game with a good comminity. I have had lots of fun with it and definitely reccomend at least trying it. It is like a short RPG that takes only about 30-50 min, so if you like RPGs but don't have patience or time I would definitely reccomend it.

- Rage Simulator
- Teamwork is a joke

To those who hasn't played dota and willing to start playing:
1. You'll always be wrong.
2. You'll always be blamed.
3. You'll be always noted as a 'stealer' after killing.
4. You'll get reported for no reason.
5. You'll be thought naturaly how to insult in; Russian, Tagalog, and other languages you have never heard before.
6. Roles that are actualy exist: All Carry.
7. You'll be forced to hate others without knowing the reason.
8. Best way to improve your good-sport behave is by stop playing any games.
9. You'll regard this game slightly higher than your school.
10. On stage 4000 MMR, the objective would be "Buy A Microphone".
11. You'll get higher scores in English subject.
12. Your ego will be boasted.
13. Mental illness. Prove? check all reviews of Dota. Negative writings for a thumbs up.
14. In the end, you'll find yourself regretting pn why have you decided to play this game.

This is an amazing, dynamic game. I've met more friends on here than through any other game. But it's addictive as hell. I've found myself being lulled into a sense of comfort just by the ambient sounds. I see a jester somewhere and automatically want to play as Rubik, and I have an urge to start the game up. You will judge everyone else you play this with, you will mull over every little second of a 56 minute game, and it'll make you a horrible pathetic person.

There's no reason to play this unless you need a time sink that'll come around to having a measure of control of your life. There's single player games where you go 'one more turn' and it turns into a night's afair of staying up late. But this game you start planning a whole day around raising your MMR by 200 points. Why? Because if you managed it, it'd make you feel better. What other games does your mood revolve around whether you play well, and how many other games can you name where you'd take that 'feeling good' to the point of willingly sacrificing an entire day to it?

Unless you've got a team of people to play with, and you don't care how much you suck, or you're actually a pro-gamer with an active team looking for a transition, don't waste your time. There's plenty of other things to do with literally 100+ days of your life.

Since I was a baby, I always had a brain tumor. The doctors told my parents that I won't last 'til I'm 20 years old. A doctor told my parents that they should just give up and let me die sooner through euthanasia. But my parents didn't give up. I experienced growing up, being a normal son and a normal student in a school. Unfortunately, I am now 19 and nearing the end of my life expectancy. I have been fighting against my brain cancer for over a year. But thank god, I played this game. My cancer has been cured.

You'll think you love this game but that's only when you're winning. Every lost match makes you feel down rather than entertaining you, and it is easy to see when you're losing in a match, usually around 10 mins in. So even you know you're going to lose because i.e. one of your teammates decides to troll or feed because they lost first blood, or someone just doesn't do well, you still have to play for another 20-50 minutes, and it feels like torture every single time.
