It was alright. It was a casual game for sure but it was alright. I can't imagine ever playing more of it than the two run throughs I gave it and I'm glad it was just part of a bundle I picked up. I wouldn't suggest someone pay money for this game unless it was incredibly cheap and it somehow appealed to you.

For the price, this game isn't worth it. Don't get me wrong, the game isn't terrible. It's simple, short, and easy to understand. Things like naming "play" and "repair" as nouns rather than verbs, repetitive gameplay, a worthless scoring system, and oddly place christmas music hold this game back.

That being said, it's a decent edutainment game- just not for the full $10. The price is what prevents me from recommending it.

If you're at all interested, I made a video about this game: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q1PUoJnzGjs

A cool educational game for children that adults won't mind playing with them. Has enjoyable music, art, and a unique sense of humor.

Cute little educational game but a little thin on content, it has challenges to help you get the most out of it but the "questions" are pretty basic.

Air Forte is Blendo Games' take on the educational genre and they've done it very well. It may not be the best teaching tool but it is an entertaining way to review math, vocabulary, and geography. The gameplay is simple and easy to pick up. The music is catchy and goes well with Air Forte. The adventure story is funny and surprisingly meaningful whiles maintaining the unique visual style and quirkiness of a Blendo Games title.

The one complaint is that this game is far too short. While it does have different modes after completing the main adventure, there's not much reason to come back to them after you've played for an hour. Overall, it's a good game but don't buy it unless it's on sale.

Interesting concept, poor execution. The game crashes a lot - often on the comic cut scenes. The controls are janky, and often difficult for kids to control. The graphics stutter, even in "netbook mode" which theoretically should work well on the slowest of computers, let alone a power gaming rig. If you're dying for an educational game for kids, wait until it goes on sale in a Humble Bundle.

Pros:
  • Absurdist humour setting
  • Jumpin’ soundtrack
  • It’s educational!

Cons:
  • Solutions are debateable
  • Pretty short game
  • Full controller operation not supported
  • Steam trophy integration partially broken (fixable)

Air Forte is an educational game where you and up to three friends take control of little airplanes and collect floating tokens that match a specific requirement for each mission. The missions are either number missions (e.g. collect tokens showing multiples of 3), word type missions (e.g. collect all the verbs) or flag missions (e.g. collect all the European flags). The main story is framed as a children’s comic-book with crazy jungle characters and a flying ace hippopotamus. Along with the surf-themed music the whole package is quite cute.

As with all games, Air Forte is not without its own flaws. Probably the most frustrating is the debatable answer to some of the missions. The number missions are quite clear however the choice to lump Central and North American countries under the category of “North America” or European and Scandinavian countries all as “Europe” can be a little confusing. Worse still are the word games. Some clever instances will get you thinking: boot is a verb and a noun. But it is not rare to find that you are one token short and there is no reasonable answer from the leftover possibilities. While I am willing to accept that maybe I’m not smart enough to win, I find issue with the fact that the rationale is never explained. That is, the game is ‘educational’ in content, not by the fact that it actually educates the user about anything in particular.

The game itself has a story mode that is quite short and can be finished in a single sitting if you are determined. Play for any longer and you may find that the endearing soundtrack starts to get a bit tired.

Technically, the software works smoothly on the whole. Unfortunately, driving the software with the controller is not supported. Navigating the menus must all be done with the mouse but once the game is started, it supported my gamepad just fine. Another issue is that (as of v.1.53) Steam integration doesn’t work properly. If you haven’t read the discussion board posts, the steamwraper2.dll needs to be renamed to steamwrap2.dll for achievements to work properly.

Despite the problems with Air Forte the chipper presentation and overall feel-goodedness of the game does help it to rise above its own flaws. While the appeal will certainly be limited for adults, it didn’t stop me from sinking a number of hours in getting the achievements and even convincing my better half to join in a few rounds of co-op.

It's a good game for kids with educational value. However, the controls and the stutter in the graphics can make the game very difficult to play. It's also very short and can be beaten in less than 1 hour. There are more things to do than the main adventure, but the interest levels are low. Achievements are broken.

Edit - Go into the game folder in Steam/Steamapps/Common/Airforte/Data and copy the steamwrapper.dll and rename it to steamwrap2.dll. This will make the achievements work.

Edit - Fixed the stutter in the graphics by installing the new OpenAL to help fix sound issues as well. For some reason this solved the problem. I found the file here. http://www.openal.org/creative-installers/

I like a stylized game from time to time, but this takes it too far without offering content to make up for it.

I cannot recommend Air Forte, although I strongly assume it wasn't made with me in mind.

Wow, this game is a work of art, It has graphics far superior to the crysis series. Its story is far better than titles like "The Last of Us" and has huge plot twists that will leave your mind spinning. Emotional characters that will get you attached to this game, I just CAN'T put it down. However I will say the game is NOT for the faint hearted there is a very high amount of blood and violence and intensive sexual interaction and even r@pe. Please do not miss out on this spectacular game, purchase it as soon as possible and you will not regret it. This game will move you in ways a game has never moved me before.

This game is the closest thing I've found to word ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥s or number ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥s from back in my elementary school days. The geography sections were new to me and the concept itself is pretty fun, though for adults or anyone that is looking for a "real game," you may want to move on. If you have a youngling that could use a boost in their math, vocab or geography, then this may be worth a buy.

It’s an edutainment title with a very short (20mins) adventure where you practice maths, vocabulary and geography by flying into the right answers. I like the presentation and you can have four people play at once. It’s just a shame that there’s so little content. The breadth of what is tested is very limited e.g. maths is just about the twelve times table and there’s no ‘learning’ element e.g. a map to study geography or explanations of what nouns or verbs are.

It’s clearly a game that was made very quickly, even using sound and music from Atom Zombie Smasher. It's clearly not worth the full asking price as is, but with a bit more time put in, it could have become a fairly good game for young children.

After a fresh install, the game consistently crashed on startup. I switched to Win 7 compatability mode as suggested on their site's FAQ, which did allow the game to run, but it was unplayably slow and choppy (on my 1.6Ghz i7 with 4GB RAM). I could spend more time trying to get it up to speed, but after playing a few rounds it didn't seem like it was worth my time.

Why is this so great? It's just an homage to simple, old educational games, but it's more fun than it seems like it should be for the 20 minutes it lasts, thanks to the goofy story and oddly appropriate music.

This game is great! It was stuck there in my library for maybe a couple years, and it never picked my interest at all. Then today I thought "hey, let's see what the hell is this Air Forte", and turns out it is a hilarious little game by Blendo Games :D It is a simple educational-airplane-game with a funny story going on, and filled with these guys quirky humor. The epilogue is priceless! Plus, I learned where Honduras is, and greased my math cogs. Recommended!

A game aimed at GCSE or equivalent grade minds and while it would probably make a rather fun teaching or revision tool for those studying maths geography or english language at that level it still is able to be fun those who have grown beyond such humble educational beginnings. Overrall it is a fun game that wont take up much of your time.

This game is educational. It's for younger kids to learn math. A very easy game, you just go around hitting into the numbers to get the ones you need. It is a bit annoying tat some of the achievements did not unlock. This game is okay, but it isn't very fun. I imagine kids who need to learn math would like this game.

Trademark Blendo weirdness in full effect. The style and some assets apparently were reused for Atom Zombie Smasher, so if you played that first, this'll feel very similar. The game itself combines are-you-smarter-than-a-4th-grader material with twitch-tank-control steering. Play with friends!
