About This Game

Set in the zombie apocalypse, Left 4 Dead 2 (L4D2) is the highly anticipated sequel to the award-winning Left 4 Dead, the #1 co-op game of 2008.
This co-operative action horror FPS takes you and your friends through the cities, swamps and cemeteries of the Deep South, from Savannah to New Orleans across five expansive campaigns.
You'll play as one of four new survivors armed with a wide and devastating array of classic and upgraded weapons. In addition to firearms, you'll also get a chance to take out some aggression on infected with a variety of carnage-creating melee weapons, from chainsaws to axes and even the deadly frying pan.
You'll be putting these weapons to the test against (or playing as in Versus) three horrific and formidable new Special Infected. You'll also encounter five new “uncommon” common infected, including the terrifying Mudmen.
Helping to take L4D's frantic, action-packed gameplay to the next level is AI Director 2.0. This improved Director has the ability to procedurally change the weather you'll fight through and the pathways you'll take, in addition to tailoring the enemy population, effects, and sounds to match your performance. L4D2 promises a satisfying and uniquely challenging experience every time the game is played, custom-fitted to your style of play.
  • Next generation co-op action gaming from the makers of Half-Life, Portal, Team Fortress and Counter-Strike.
  • Over 20 new weapons & items headlined by over 10 melee weapons – axe, chainsaw, frying pan, baseball bat – allow you to get up close with the zombies
  • New survivors. New Story. New dialogue.
  • Five expansive campaigns for co-operative, Versus and Survival game modes.
  • An all new multiplayer mode.
  • Uncommon common infected. Each of the five new campaigns contains at least one new “uncommon common” zombies which are exclusive to that campaign.
  • AI Director 2.0: Advanced technology dubbed “The AI Director” drove L4D's unique gameplay – customizing enemy population, effects, and music, based upon the players’ performance. L4D 2 features “The AI Director 2.0” which expands the Director’s ability to customize level layout, world objects, weather, and lighting to reflect different times of day.
  • Stats, rankings, and awards system drives collaborative play

Love the game. it doesnt take that much of a good computer to run 60fps. 1280 x 720 is like an always 60fps experince. 1920 x 1080 is like a solid 30-60 fps, still runs flawlessly. doesnt need a beast computer to run. cheap, easy, and fun to play with friends. get stuff at the steam workshop for more fun!

If you were to compile a list of some of the greatest video games ever, this would surely fit in the top 10. This is because of it's revolutionary gameplay, which, sadly, has never been properly duplicated by any other game since Left 4 Dead's Inception. The series incorporates a level of teamwork unlike any other game out there, where working together with people actually works, and playing with others increasing the experience hundred-fold, rather than only slightly or decreasing the experience. It's multiplayer and replay value exceed the price you pay for this game--especially now. I could remember playing the first Left 4 Dead with my dad my Senior year in high school. He and I played countless hours trying to figure out how to beat each and every campaign, slowly but surely. I'll cherish those memories forever.

For those new to the series, there's a couple questions you might want to have answered:

Q: Do I need to play the first Left 4 Dead to play this one?
A: Heavens, no! Left 4 Dead 2 comes with the original 4 campaigns, plus 5 new core campaigns, and a few DLC ones trickled here and there. It's a lot of content, and all the campaigns from the original have been improved (and the weapons in 1 have been replaced with all the ones in 2).

Q: Can I play this game solo and still have fun?
A: Absolutely. I've done all the campaigns on my own and gotten through them pretty easily. You always have 3 teammates on your team, whether they're human or AI. The AI isn't that bad, despite some people's complaints. They have improved over the years--for instance, while you were stepping in goo, the AI would come over, force you to stop escaping the goo, and say, "Hold on, let me heal yo' ♥♥♥!". Is it difficult? I would say it's just the same difficulty with its own unique challenges than if you were playing with a team of 3 other friends. Is it fun? Yes, but the real fun is with other human players, especially your friends!

Q: Does the game have replay value?
A: Let me put it this way: I gauge whether or not a game is worth my time by assuming each hour I play the game is worth $2.00. By this logic, the game should be worth hundreds of dollars, if not thousands. But you get it for the low price of... Well, in NT (Taiwanese currency) it's NT$468, which is like 15 US bucks. So it's an absolute steal. Even if the game was charging AAA prices (which it did at one point), it is still worth your money. If you want to wait for a sale, fine. But at the price that it is, you're getting your money's worth. There are 3 reasons why this game has good replay value: 1.) The AI randomly generates items and zombies in different places throughout the map. So no two playthroughs are ever the same--even if you die and have to restart the mission the map changes. It presents unique situations you and your team needs to adapt to. 2.) The story is so minimal that you don't feel like you're playing for the story, so the replay value is a little higher. 3.) Once you feel like you've played enough of the regular campaign mode, go into the different modes, such as vs.: where there are 8 players (2 teams), which take turns as being the humans and the zombies. It's really a great party game if you have 7 other friends who play. Get everyone together and play vs. mode, and you won't be disappointed. There are other modes, too.

Q: Is the game scary?
A: Left 4 Dead 1 was somewhat designed as a horror. Some places included: A hospital, a sewer, an empty forest, a train yard, a factory, a subway, and a cornfield--almost all of which was at night, with creepy music and dark tones throughout the experience--especially if you're playing for the first time. Left 4 Dead 2 was meant to be more light-hearted (for, you know... a zombie game). Characters cracked more jokes, and you went to a lot of places that weren't as scary--in fact, you get to ride a bunch of carnival rides in one campaign, and one character gets really excited to see "Kiddy-land". Sure, there were serious parts, but it wasn't nearly as eerie as the first title. Either way, both games are fun and present enjoyable atmospheres.

In sum, this game is probably one of the best games you will buy, especially if you're looking for a multiplayer experience that will blow you away. MOBA's wish they could have this kind of experience for their players.

900+ Hours and counting.
This sequel is #1 on my list of Recommended Games. The Left 4 Dead Series is an instant classic, released 7 years ago and it still holds up. Play alone or play with your friends (or strangers), you will enjoy this game for countless hours. L4D2 is an improvement to an already fantastic and entertaining game. Make new friends, or lose some, the game focuses on cooperative gameplay that will teach you how to be patient and make you a great team player. You can download new maps and customize the whole game with mods from the workshop. This is the Best Zombie Co-op game ever!

Here are some pros:
+Easy mechanics, no boring story-line
+Community is alive and well (90% of the people on my friends list are from this game).
+Endless mods on the Workshop. It's like walking into a grocery store.
+Funny and witty Character Lines.
+Melee Weapons
+More Blood
+New Survivors, New Campaigns, New Zombies.
+Achievements that you will enjoy hunting for.
+Cool Easter Eggs and Movie references.
+Random jump scares every once in a while.
+Boomer is still Ugly

I only have one Con though:
-GOOD GUY NICK!!!

Left 4 Dead 2 is a pretty fun game, but i hate the fact that sometimes i join a game and i get killed by griefers. I usually make my own servers to have fun with and kick/ban players that dare to ruin the game.

Just beware of those types of people. :]

Convinced my mom to get me a Steam card for my birthday which I used to purchase L4D2. I had played a bit of L4D1 before, but it doesn't compare to this one. Every Valve game I've played has been fantastic, which includes Portal 1, 2 and L4D. The Physics are hyper-realistic, the textures are flawless, and on top of all that beauty lies the fact that it runs very smoothly on my computer. Not a whole lot of guns, but the realism and amazingness makes up for it. Valve is doing fantastic work, now all we need is Left 4 Dead 3!

Kick simulator 2009:

  • Don't have more than 100 hours in-game? Vote kicked.

  • Accidentally miss a charge? Vote kicked.

  • Don't help a pounced survivore within two seconds? Vote kicked.

  • Only incapacitate one survivore as a tank? Vote kicked.

  • Don't share your pills? Vote kicked.

  • Steal somebody's kill? Vote kicked.

  • Walk fifteen meters ahead of your team? Vote kicked.

  • Your team dies but you make it to the safe room? Vote kicked.

  • Didn't attack the survivors the nanosecond your team did? Vote kicked.

  • Accidentally shoot a team mate? Vote kicked.

  • Don't speak Russian? Vote kicked.

Don't get me wrong, this is an absolutely amazing game, if there was a "neutral" button, I'd totally click that, but if you really want to have a good time, play with your friends. Otherwise finding a server with decent people on is very hard.

Left4Dead2 is Left4Dead2!

One of the best. bloodiest and funniest zombie-shooter.
Unlike the previous part, now you have a variety of choices how and with what you're going to kill hordes of zombies. New special infected, new weapons (melee, shotguns, sniper, rifles and grenades), new medicine and of course new characters and new game modes. Also the large workshop with new campaigns, skins, sounds and a lot of useful stuff for any taste.

It is also great that there is an ability to play the campaigns from the first Left4Dead and there is a connection between the characters from both parts.

If you like zombie apocalypse theme, then this is the game you must play! Grab your friends and lets kill these undead ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥s!

10 burning tanks of 10.
