While it adds a few new weapons this game pretty much just more Half-Life. Luckily Half-Life is amazing so I don't mind more of the same. It's easily worth the asking price. Start with the original then come to this when you're hungry for more.

Half-Life: Opposing Force is an awesome expansion pack to the original Half-Life, but this time from the point of view of a Marine. The storylines of this game run parrallel to the original Half-Life. It is nice to see the different perspective of people in the incident of Black Mesa. The squad experience is fun at times since it adds a little more depth of the situation that there are some struggles that you don't have the expertise to figure out on your own. Some of the iconic moments are still featured with some new exciting moments. This is a must play game to the Half-Life Franchise to get the whole scope of what's happening.

HL:OP is a expansion pack to HL1 made by Gearbox. I recommend it highly, if the first version was not enough for you. This expansion pack adds more weapons, such as a Sniper Rifle and a Machine Gun. The plot is not completely new, you play as a member of the forces, that Gordon Freeman fought with. It happens at the same time as in HL1, you can even see Gordon! From my experience, the game is even harder that HL1.
It took me around 5 hours to beat it.

I highly reccomend to buy it, but only when it is on a sale, or buy the whole franchise.

Half-Life: Opposing Force is an awesome expansion pack to the original Half-Life, but this time from the point of view of a Marine named Cpl. Adrian Shepard. The events in this game run parallel to the original so it's great to see how the other storylines unfold from a different perspective. There are a load of new weapons added and also a few new enemies to encounter. At times you will also have a squad to help you out which really gives gives the feel for some epic battles when it's your squad versus a horde of monsters. If you're itching for more Half-Life then this is a must play and is an awesome addition to Half-Life series.

Half-Life: Opposing Force is one of the two standalone expansion packs for the original Half-Life. Both of the expansions are developed by Gearbox and overseen by Valve. I found Opposing Force to be better than Blue Shift, but that is just opinion. On to reviewing the actual game now. The game starts off with you being introduced to the character you play as Corporal Adrian Shephard, who is apart of the Hazardous Environment Combat Unit, or H.E.C.U. for short. You are riding a helicopter along with other members of the H.E.C.U. into the Black Mesa Research Facility, but then the helicopter is suddenly assaulted by alien aircraft. The helicopter crashes and you are knocked unconscious. You wake up in the Med Bay, with orders to hunt down and eliminate Gordon Freeman. The gameplay mechanics are the same as the original Half-Life, but with new, fun, interesting weapons. Brand new enemies, which require certain tactics to defeat efficiently. Plus new levels of course. You occasionally run into friendly soldiers on your journey throughout Black Mesa, but they are quite clunky and stupid at times. Overall the game is fun and exciting with a mysterious storyline just like the original Half-Life. It is also very fun to see the Black Mesa Incident from different a perspective.
TLDR: Fun, challenging, and mysterious like the original. This time from a different perspective. The better of the two expansion packs in my opinion.

i dont buy expansions/dlcs dat much cuz i don't really care
but this along with blue shift is great
cheaper than hl itself (cause gordon) makes it i guess good
eitherway the addition of lots of weps makes it even better
10/10 great expansion with blue shift

Half Life Opposing Force is a 1999 Expansion of Valve's Half Life, In this "Retelling" of the infamous Black Mesa incident a manmade catastrophe that took place in some vague timespan between 2000 to 2009 AD and would ultimately pave the way for Earth's invasion by the Universal Union or "Combine" during the seven hour war mentioned in Half Life 2. You play the game via the eye's of one Corporal Adrian Shephard a member of an fictional special forces unit within the United States military. The game starts with you and your "stars n stripes" squadmates already in the air over the desert surrounding Black Mesa debating what the purpose of their deployment is only to be shot down by alien aircraft. You wake up in an infirmary a few hours later to learn that the military incursion as seen towards the second "Half" of Half Life was failing and the high brass has ordered all personell to abandon the base. You make your way to the evacuation sight only to be stopped by the nefarious "Gman" who sees to it that you do not leave the base with your fellow soldiers. As the game continues on you encounter another military unit however this one unlike your fellow HECU marines are hostile. These are the "Black Ops" as their name suggests they are a Black Operations unit sent in to finish the job the HECU failed to do which was to contain the base by "Any means possible" in this case the Black Ops have brought along a nuclear bomb to destroy the compound and anything in it. Aside from the Black Ops theres also the "Race X" aliens a new group of hostille species tunneling their way to our lovely Earth in the "Last hours" of the resonance cascade. At the climax of the game you battle the Race X's "Biggest and baddest" member the "Gene worm" a gigantic monstrosity that according to the official Prima guide was sent to "Terraform" Earth hoewever you manage to defeat this thing before it can do its thing it exploding in a burst of portal energy similar to the boss fight of the first game. You awaken on a V-22 with the gman who promptly tells you that you have seen to much and you will be "detained" until further notice. Adrian Shephard has yet to show his face since his 1999 debut in the series and due to Valve's more recent titles suchas Team Fortress 2 Dota 2 and CS:GO it is unlikely he or "Any" of the actual Half Life cast will be shown in a future title. overall this game is one of my favorites in this series. My only wish is that gearbox had made more of these expansions aside this Blue Shift and the PS2 expansion "Decay" I give it an 9.5/10

What can I say? This game is absolutely fantastic not only in terms of gameplay and story, but lighting and the change of environments for its time. I can safely say this game is almost better than Half Life, if not better. The environments are much more varied, you have a sense of purpose and more of a 'clan' if you see what I mean. You can have your squad follow you (although they are relatively clumsy at times) and they are quite useful from healing you to opening doors and vents. The platforming is on touch, although the crouch-jumping is a bit awkward, but it's still a very good choice of gameplay. A perfect mix of puzzles and action. Compared to Blue Shift, this had an actual boss with weaknesses and it felt good to defeat it.

Also, I would like to add that I find the puzzles less complicated and frustrating, which may be because I've played all the other Half Life 1 parts but I see in general that they are made less complex, which is good for people like me because whilst I enjoy puzzles from time to time, I prefer shooting and puzzles should be easily solvable so you don't feel too frustrated, if you see what I mean. Still, they are perfectly challenging and it is not TOO easy to solve them, however this time I did not see myself going on the internet to find solutions. A very good game, despite a few glitches like the doors opening. The sounds are quite good for their time, but so is everything else really. A very good game that I would recommend to anyone, even those not very fond of puzzle and shooter games.

You are Cpl. Adrian Shephard, dispatched with the HECU to cover up the Black Mesa Incident. However, upon initial arrival things go heavily wrong and your squad pulls out, leaving you behind to fend off with the others. Taking a trip through hell, you must get out, and get out by any means possible available to you.

Have you ever wanted to be an HECU? Wait, you didn't? Well, now you can! Partnering with Valve, Gearbox Software made two expansion packs for Half-Life, which were Opposing Force and Blue Shift. We're talking about Opposing Force today though, so yeah. Opposing Force introdues Race X, a group of aliens that pass through Xen to Black Mesa and spread havoc, so you fight them too. You also get to see Gordon Freeman run into Xen moments before the room collapses and you nearly die but you follow him into Xen. So that's a cool scene. Opposing Force is an exciting game that won a GOTY by the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences (Impressive.) for its great gameplay. Definetely recommended for those who want more Half-Life.

TL;DR: Great game that won a GOTY award by the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences for its offers of andrenaline-inducing legendary gameplay with good plot that fits into the Half-Life universe and makes it fit.

CLOSING STATEMENT: Ranked 40 due to the fact that the retcons put MAJOR plotholes within the game and short singleplayer. The gameplay also feels lacking in some areas and like Half-Life has that 90s game thing, so yeah.

VERDICT: 40/49

Personally, I find this the weaker expansion pack, but it's still good. The combat is stellar, but the plot makes no sense in the latter sections - though this is largely due to retcons, and not necessarily the fault of Gearbox. A good headcanon approach is to only play up to the "explosion" and assume that everything afterwards is a death hallucination (or just not play it.) Or if you don't care about continuity, knock yourself out and go for it all.

Minha opinião se vale a pena comprar:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ekOwXPQr9L8

- Bom agora vamos ao ponto principal, vale a comprar a primeira expansão do Half Life 1 chamada Opposing Force ?

Compatibilidade: Windows 10
Multiplayer: Servidores Online (Poucos e Nenhum Brasileiro)
Jogadores: Nenhum Brasileiro
Preço Médio: R$ 10,49
Preço Recorde: $1.24 R$ 3,34

Considerando estas informações eu só posso dizer:

Sim!

+ Novos efeitos sonoros (E melhores)

Pontos negativos:

- Animações

You know that this contribution to the Half-Life legacy isn't gonna be TOO serious when your opening cut scene features a military dude doing an R. Lee Ermey impersonation, right before he gets unceremoniously sucked out of an airplane. It IS official Valve product, though, so while it's one of the "lighter" - and arguably less "essential" - forays into the Half-Life universe, it's still a very high-quality product by the standards of not only first-person shooters, but indeed video games as a whole. Sure it's dated more than a tad - especially graphics and sound-wise - but the gameplay is still very much there, and the story ain't half-bad neither. The word "solid" definitely comes to mind...and then some.

Maybe not the best place to start your FPS training - that'd be more like Half-Life itself, dare I say! - but obviously highly recommended to fans of the original who crave more. It delivers, plain-and-simple, in a way which a far more recent "mod" like Wilson Chronicles - look it up (no, wait, don't bother) - does not. Clever mapping, light-yet-interesting puzzles, crazy weaponry and gadgets, satisfying combat...it's all here. An absolute steal at five dollars, really...

Verdict: 9.5/10.

You play as Adrian Shepherd (definetly wrote his name wrong), the one and only not dumb as hell, and killable HECU Marine who doesn't kill the sciencists and security guards.
New enemies and new weapons in this expansion pack, it is the better one.
Play this game if you love FPS games what is actually great and not a copied garbage.
Don't play if you hate the high damage, high HP enemies.

A solid story driven first person shooter with puzzles and platforms. Just like all these elements made half life great. However, Opposing force is nowhere near as good as the original title.

And the reason is because the level design is entierly different than valve did, and it's not the linearity like these classic games but there isn't any rewarding hidden objects, weapons and ammo. By instinct I looked out for corners, crates, vent shafts and it didn't really felt like half life for me. Still, this is a classic.

G-Man you f*ck!

I really enjoyed both of these DLCs. They were better than the main game imo. And I can't really decide which one of these was better. Blue shift was short and sweet and opposing force longer and neat.

The nice new things were:
spooky new enemies D:
more military-like weapons. the deagle (if it is a deagle? well, the other hand gun) was really nice.
more dialogue and sguad things (the ai still sucks)
g-man trying to ♥♥♥♥ you up in every turn

It was better than the main game and longer than Blue shift. Really good (get it if you like HL).

If you can forget about the graphics it's actually a really fun FPS! And I say that even though I play this 1999 game in 2016 for the first time, man I love the Half-Life universe!

The ONLY negative things I experienced in this game are some game breaking bugs, that force you to load an older save (being stuck in an elevator, health station disappearing, etc...) and the really dumb soldiers that you need to advance further in the game. They stop following you, run into enemies and once one of my own squad members started shooting at me and I died..

Half Life: Opposing Force is the first of two DLC's paired with the original Half-Life, but the last one I played. It takes place shortly following the Black Mesa incident, and runs a little bit further into the storyline than the original game. It is shorter though, at a runtime of 4-5 hours. You play as the badass Corporal Adrian Shephard, sent into the Black Mesa facility to eradicate the Xen invaders and silence witnesses. You never really get around to the latter objective though, due to certain events that occur at the start of the campaign. However, you'll be happy to know you will be doing a whole lot of the first goal I’ve stated.

Now that the scene has been set, let's get a little bit more in depth with Opposing Force. For one, it adds a lot of new weapons and enemies. You will also occasionally get some squad mates that you can direct in battle at key parts of the game. Moreover, you can achieve further insight on what the militaries' objective was during the main campaign, and further explanation of the overarching mysterious narrative of Half-Life can be derived by those who pay attention. While this may seem like cause to wrap up and say it's wonderful and of the same quality as the original, I really can't say that it is. The new enemies are pretty poorly thought out, and not much fun to fight. The AI of your squad members is dumb as a box of rocks, which gets them killed almost immediately in any combat situation. My final complaint is that the last half of Opposing Force felt extremely rushed, and is thus paced horribly when nearing the end. It does a lot wrong, but it's still Half-Life. The flaws don't take that away. I enjoyed it the majority of the time, and can still whole heartedly recommend Opposing Force to anyone who loved the original. Simply be aware that it has more imperfections than the base game, and Blue Shift too for that matter. Other than that, close to all I've stated in my review of the original Half-Life applies to Opposing Force aswell.

Personal Rating: 9/10

A Semi-Sequel to the FPS Hit "Half-Life" (Takes place near the end).

You have expectations being a US Marine Corporal, it's going to be fun and highly likely to kill alot of things. But you have to kill anyone who is a witness to the Black Mesa Incident. And guess who you're target is... it's the one scientist named Gordon Freeman. But the Marines don't know why they're there. And you don't know what's the cause.
