About This Game

Awesome game, it deserve to be bought. Great story, but is short. Easy gamplay and combat system, and it really looks nice. Can't wait for Warmastered Edition

There are many flaws into Darksiders 1 that did not make the Franchise "begin" it's glorious series that we know of so far.

Darksiders 1 felt more of a God of War remake with a new slap of paint, however, the combat system appears smooth and not clunky but it's "directory" of you knowing what to do and such is at a poor rating. I've been stuck at the Black Throne area and it's mainly the reason i quit, no way to continue and the enemies at the start litterally waste your HP potions. There's TONS of errors and mistakes within the levels and they're never going to be fixed, now i know there's this pathetic "Warmastered" Edition for Darksiders 1 but that's the worst mistake ever. Darksiders 2 feels like it is what actually brought the Franchise to light, not the first which the first game SHOULD be bringing it to light.

The story is half and half good, however a few gimmick and cliche in it. It's based in a 2000's Modern World Post-Apocalyptic city, probably New York or somewhere else, but that's also generic so it levels down it's design a tad since you always see Modern World Post Apocalyptic games which are now, tired and boring, but Fallout 4's 1980 or 70 or so style is what brought the ideas that true Post-Apocalyptic games can be based in almost any timeline, like Red Dead Redemption or such.

Even though there's still little to say, i'm suprised to how many people like it, maybe it's sympathy because in litteral terms it's merely a copy of GoW with a new coat of paint, even though i find that game/franchise to be vomit disgusting, the Darksiders franchise truly started with the SECOND game, and the FIRST games of a franchise should be the one to START it, so it's obvious that Darksiders 1 had many flaws to not achieve this.

Overall:
World - Arts and Concepts: 6/10 - The use of a 2000's, generic, Modern World Post Apocalyptic City. Run by Demons.
Mechanics and Combat - 8/10 - It's Smooth and Isn't Clunky like the other games like GoW.
G.D.D - 9/10 - The fact, despite it's time of origin, is a very Well Done game in Graphics, Design and Detail.

Ultimately, Darksiders 1 will still leave you hollow and you'd probably get stuck in a part of the game forever, but Darksiders 2 is what truly started the franchise and made it noticeable, respected and so on.

This game is fun for the first one or two chapters but after that it becomes a continous slog of trying to get to the end of the game is puzzle after puzzle then a fight and figure out how to kill a mini boss or large boss, its repetative and boring after a while.

its more than just hack and slash its puzzles galore and the last chapter is such a drag that im on the edge of giving up.

i have to get the beams to the angel of death, and after doing one i thought i was done, but oh no thers is another one to do and i have got my head in my hands, ive lost the willpower.

is it a good game in any other way, well yeah kinda...

it makes you think a bit with the puzzles and if you like hack and slash and easy peasy bosses once you've figured out their routine and how easy they actually are then go for it.

but this is not a game that can be finished in a weekend, ive tried. Now im fed up with it.

The kind of games I would like to see more often!
- Awesome atmosphere
- Badass character designs (By Joe Madureira but not only)
- Excellent Boss fight
- Cool voice acting
- Smoth and fun Gameplay

Darksiders is a great game in my opinion. The story is great, controls with the keyboard aren't too difficult like, say Dark Souls, and it is as fun as it is challenging. One issue with the game that I have become aware of is that sometimes the achievements will bug out. To fix this, you need to make sure every time you launch the game through Steam, your Steam app on your PC must be exitted completely (as in log out and exit). Other than that, I haven't come into any major problems. The game makes you feel like a badass, and that alone should be enough to play it.

Awesome Game. 9.9/10 because gameplay is kinda repetitive at the end. If you don't own the game, wait til' the remastered edition is out. Enemies and bosses are great.

The start of this game is fairly slow, introducing you to combat and the world and therefore drags a bit as there's really not much you can do in terms of combat initially. You earn more weapons and techniques for them throughout the game and the battle system eventually becomes quite well fleshed out. While not on par with Bayonetta or the later DMC titles, it's still got enough to work with that it can be fun.
Once the game introduces you to the dungeons it becomes a lot more fun and interesting and the first two dungeons are great, rivalling some of Zelda's best with some good bosses to round off the experience.
Unfortunately the game begins to fall flat at around the halfway point with the latter two dungeons being much less interesting and the bosses being a bit lame. There is no final dungeon and the final battle isn't very challenging or engaging at all. To top this off, there's a bit of padding before the final dungeon which is really just backtracking and busywork, not aided by the poor map system.
The story is there but it's not something I was really invested in. I don't really care much about the characters and there weren't any great moments.

Overall I'd say this game is probably worth a play if you're into Zelda and want something that's similar but changes the formula up a bit. While it does dip towards the end, I feel that the first two dungeons at least are worth playing the game for if you get it cheap.

What a beautiful game with all of his means.. The lore of this series it have with the 4 horsemans and the apocalypse with the 3 kingdoms and the kingdom of the man falls, from demons and angels hands and then for man its come an end and then the chaos comes.. but 4 horsemans needs to bring balance on earth and we starting with the little one the War our playble character on darksiders 1.. Give it a try dudes, its worthing your time if u loving a action hack and slash games with amazing storyline..!

One of my all time favorites.
To sum it up, it's an apocalypse Zelda where you explore the mystical land of Detroit as Red Arthas, a.k.a. War.
You get touched inappropriately by Vulgrim who is the Genie to your Aladdin, and also by the Watcher who is the Navi to your Link.
You mission is to find the president's stolen rubies, restore Satan's nemesis to his older glory and to find the true meaning of Christmas. The usual.

Pros:
- Cool story. You're a horeseman who's so strong that you serve as the law, balance, and order between Heaven, Hell, & Earth.
- Awesome Hack & Slash gameplay. The combat looks great and feels satisfying.
- Progression: There's lots of gear, combos, special moves, upgrades, etc. to unlock.
- Good graphics, cutscenes, and voice acting

Cons:
- Puzzles are required to reach the next area.
- Puzzles are required to reach the next boss.
- Puzzles are required to reach another puzzle.

The game may show a large amount of mechanical similarity to God of War, that is really where the comparison ends. Darksiders drops you into a post apocalyptic nightmare of a world that is an amazingly organic blend of Heaven, Hell, and the modern world. The game contains many beautifully designed levels that have you running down city streets one moment, and fighting in a Hell spawned cesspool the next, with one flowing beautifully into the other. Character and monster design leave nothing to be desired either, with wonderfully detailed nightmares and angelic warriors coming at you from all sides. This game definitely has the eye candy taken care of.

As far as the mechanics go, as I said, think God of War and you've pretty well got the idea. You're going to collect souls in order to level up. You'll learn new skills, get new toys, and those toys will need to be leveled as well. You'll run around unique, artistic maps solving complex puzzles. Combat is largely combo based versus multiple opponents, with multiple weapons to choose from. One of the amusing additions to combat is the ability to use just about anything in the environment as an improvised weapon. Street signs, street lamps, cars, you can use them all as either projectiles or beating implements. When the boss fights come up, you'll be working to beat them down to a context specific cut scene finale. If you enjoyed the GoW's gameplay style, you'll feel right at home here. And honestly, there is something to be said for that. The familiar mechanics mean that there's no time wasted figuring out how the game works, and more time spent actually playing the game.

Darksiders can be challenging at times, particularly some of the boss battles but the best advice as always is to persevere and you will find the solution. If you can overcome those minor issues then Darksiders has much to offer with a good storyline, many hours of gameplay, and some of the best action sequences you are likely to see.

Though influences from other games are clear to see, Darksiders still manages to excel on its own merits. If you're looking for an action/adventure that will keep you busy for hours then there is no need to look further.
