Welcome to the char-grilled world of Burn Zombie Burn, where the best type of undead is barbequed undead.

The goals are simple: keep Bruce alive, as he tries to keep Daisy alive, and get the highest score possible. Standing (well, ambling) in your way is a never ending horde of the rotting, stinking and stupid undead. Fortunately our mild-mannered hero Bruce can get hold of some tasty weaponry. Burn, batter, shoot, maim, blow up, mince, and obliterate as many zombies as possible before they make Bruce their dinner…

Flaming zombies are faster and more dangerous than regular uncooked zombies. But burning zombies drop better pickups and act as a score multiplier – light ‘em up, score big, and have fun.

Key features:

  • A hoard of zombie types – dancers, exploders, armored, infectious, and fire-farting super zombies
  • An arsenal of weaponry – bats, guns of all sizes, chain saw, flamethrower, lawnmower, brain gun and groovy dance gun
  • Big red button – use weapon combos to enable the big red button and trigger unique level events
  • A healthy range of explosives – upgrade your everyday TNT for increasingly destructive explosives and mines
  • A truck load of pick-ups – ammo, defense for daisy, rampage, speed, time, TNT, TNT range and type upgrades, and junk food health boosters
  • 6 infinite play arenas – The Woods, Graveyard, Suburbia, Drive-in, Army Base, Secret Lab
  • 3 game modes – Free Play, Defend Daisy and Timed
  • 10 challenges with alternate styles of play
  • Super un-lockable bonuses including multiple game rendering modes
  • A coffin full of in-game achievements to complete

How many zombie murderfest games are there on Steam now? Probably enough that you don't need to worry about one that came out over 4 years ago. Burn Zombie Burn has exactly one interesting mechanic, and that's that you get a melee attack that sets zombies on fire. Every zombie currently on fire adds one to your score multiplier, and killing a burning zombie can yield better powerups. However, burning zombies move faster, hit harder, and if they burn to death award you no points. So if you want to be grandmaster of zombie murder, you have to balance setting zombies on fire against mowing them down.

Outside of that, you have a standard assortment of guns and chainsaws and bombs. There are some unique zombie types you've seen before like exploding ones and armored ones. You can trigger a special event for each level like the zombies doing the Thriller dance if you get high enough combos with a single weapon. The graphics are ugly cartoony, and the blood spray particle effect wouldn't render for me so I got black boxes every time I hit a zombie. Your character's hair looks like poop. Seriously, play something else.

An hectic little top down zombie game with huge hordes and over the top weapons. Fun for a half hour or so, but otherwise, not worth the dosh.

I ♥♥♥♥ing hate this game for purely one reason.
No matter how great or cheap a game is when you do the tutorial you make sure you state what the controls are. The tutorial goes as normal until you realise they never told you which key does what. Also playing this need a gamepad/controller, want to play with a keyboard and mouse? You might as well just bash random keys.
That being said this game have some enjoyable moments, it is quite challenging after a while but at the same time it can get quite boring. This is also the only game where I want multiplayer.
No matter how cheap this game is it's not worth it.

I've felt strongly compelled to try and rescue this title from some undeserved criticism.
When I see something developers are doing right I like to try and encourage what they did right before cries of what they've done wrong inevitably toss the baby out with the bath water.

Let's get out of the way what is wrong with Burn Zombie! Burn! first.
Simply put the point goals have been set way too damn high and even the best of players have gone over ten minutes of enduring one level just to achieve a Silver.

Also, per Vyrastas extremely informative point scoring walkthrough
He mentions that the R1 button feature has been removed from the Steam release. Holding down the shoulder button allowed for manual aiming apparently using one of the analogues'

From YouTube playthroughs I have also noticed the Lawnmower weapon turning up more frequently in the native PS3 version and it is that Lawnmower + Zombies on Fire which scores and drops dynamite upgrades the quickest.

But despite the painstaking goal ahead of Steam gamers, Burn Zombie applies good old fashioned thumb-active game play and this is to be as heavily pointed out as it is commended.

On release there were many cries for twin stick shooting (unfortunately offered in sequels) thus ignoring that such unsophisticated controls not only take away much of the challenge but also removes the feature of each weapon having it's own unique manner of use: ie; rapid pressing of the fire button while holding the pistol offers quick but weak bursts while shorter and harder presses release less bullets but those shots do more damage.

In this wave shooter the number of zombies released at one time is perfectly balanced. The controls (despite missing the R1 option) are enjoyable for those who love getting thumb exercise on game pads and it is this alone that makes BZB worth purchase.

However the value should be taken into consideration before purchasing. With the flaws mentioned above I wouldn't suggest spending over $5 for this title and only recommend the game to those gamers who don't mind exhaustive thirty minute runs to try and accomplish only one goal.
