What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“(Coming Soon, January 2017)
Although Warcube is not yet complete, the game is at a point where it could really benefit from a community of players exploring the world, testing out the combat system by bashing other cubes, and flinging themselves out of catapults. (as well as provide technical and fun-based feedback)

I'm personally a huge fan of the Early Access program. Having participated in a couple before they became more mainstream, I found that as an active player and fan I was more pumped to TALK about the game to others, and found a sense of ownership in the direction of the game. I still feel this way about those games, even though they've launched nearly a decade ago.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“I've estimated that Warcube will be in Early Access for approximately 9 months. Figure if a human baby could be made in that time then so could game, right? ;) As always though, that time's subject to change.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version will differ from Early Access in a few ways. From a sheer quantity standpoint it will have much, much MORE. More places to explore, more places to conquer, more factions and enemies to battle against and destroy in an explosion of tiny cubes.

There will be new props, weapons, specials as well easter eggs to find.

And of course, the holy grail, I would also like to possibly integrate multiplayer in some form, be that local co-op, explicit co-op modes, or something of the sort.

It's possible that the final release of Warcube will not play out exactly as it did in the Early Access version. Saves might not carry over all the way through, though I will definitely try to make them! :)”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Majority of the core systems are in place at varying degrees of complexity, and the game is fully playable. You can fight, get money, explore and conquer, just like the basis for real life! What's next though is not only the most time intensive part of building the game, but also the riskiest in terms of development without community input. It's the world building, the giant content crunch!

Gotta also mention, it's way more fun to work on this part of the game with community input :)”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The initial Early Access price will be the lowest price a person with be able to get the game. As new content and features are added the price will gradually rise to match that.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“This is always tricky, because ultimately a community will involve itself in whatever it finds the most value in. While as a game creator, I might value something totally different! That being said, my hope is that the community is able breath inspiration into the epic scenarios our brave Warcube will find themselves in, and offer clever personal input, that I'm able to act on.

For example, there may be a level where you're fighting on the roof tops of a town, and someone might say "it would be SO cool if you jump in a chimney and get shot up into the air", to which I would respond "That WOULD be cool!", and the following week you can jump into chimneys and get shot up into the air. To top it off, there's an easter egg in the level naming the person who suggested it.”

Release Update Announcement!

Hi friends! Yes that IS what I look like above ;)

I wanted to give an update on release! But before I get rolling...

TL;DR RELEASING JANUARY 2017

Why the delay? Who am I? EA or Ubisoft?! Not at all, just me!

It's been a wild past couple months since PAX and I've been really moving forward with the game. I can't thank you guys enough for the support :)

I had the awesome opportunity to go to Steam Dev Days a couple weeks back.

While there I heard some incredible talks from people who are WAY smarter than me. They recommended to stay away from releasing anytime from October - December. Instead, continue building the game, polishing what I have and releasing after the holiday madness.

And I believe that's the right thing to do :)

So I'm going to keep drilling away on the game, adding new things and am more excited than ever to get everyone playing in January 2017 :)

What better way to start the new year out, right?

Also I'm starting a new thing for updates!

It's called 'Community Shoutout'! Where I thank people in the community. This can come in a variety of forms: from encouragement, starting a popular discussion, even just leaving a clever comment ;)

I'd like to have something eventually to give people IN GAME, but am not sure what yet. Just one of the small ways I want to say thank YOU!

I've been having so much fun making this game, lots of sleepless nights and early mornings. But couldnt be happier :D

Don't hesitate to give a shout if you have any questions or just want to say hi, I've enabled my notifications on comments, so I'll be sure to get back to you :D

Also! I promise to have an initial release date soon ;)

And here's the promised little GIF of me putting it together - I'm always so entertained by these and I thought you might be too!

Reviews

“The first time you dash-attack a Warcube foe, then slow time down to nail an arrow attack while bouncing in mid-air off your first attacker, will leave you changed as an action gamer.”

“Just how much fun you’re having describing all this, makes me really excited for this game.”

“The simplicity of the art and style makes you appreciate just how much fun the action of the combat is. You’re not distracted...”

About This Game

WARCUBE is all about the combat.

It’s viciously intense, subtly tactical, and geometrically satisfying. Inspired by games such as Shadow of Mordor, Assassins Creed and Mount & Blade. But with more... cubes.

You've returned home after being on holiday for 3,729 years.
  • Be transformed from a Human, into a Warcube.
  • Wage war against the Strongholds of the Evil Redking and his army.
  • Capture outposts and explore the world's secrets.
  • Find treasures lost in ages past, as well as things not so treasured...
  • Launch yourself from catapults, to go places you probably ought not to.

While playing you may experience
  • Dynamic slow motion and speed ramping, similar to 300, but with cubes.
  • Highly realistic cube physics...very complex stuff.
  • A multitude of arrows being shot at you, as well as swords, axes and spears waved in your direction.
  • The severe desire to be transformed into a Warcube in your human life.

Never has there been a game with this many cubes, that wasn't a Minecraft knockoff.
These cubes were made for battle, not building.
