About This Game

From Valve (the creators of Counter-Strike, Half-Life and more) comes Left 4 Dead, a co-op action horror game for the PC and Xbox 360 that casts up to four players in an epic struggle for survival against swarming zombie hordes and terrifying mutant monsters.
Set in the immediate aftermath of the zombie apocalypse, L4D's survival co-op mode lets you blast a path through the infected in four unique “movies,” guiding your survivors across the rooftops of an abandoned metropolis, through rural ghost towns and pitch-black forests in your quest to escape a devastated Ground Zero crawling with infected enemies. Each "movie" is comprised of five large maps, and can be played by one to four human players, with an emphasis on team-based strategy and objectives.
New technology dubbed "the AI Director" is used to generate a unique gameplay experience every time you play. The Director tailors the frequency and ferocity of the zombie attacks to your performance, putting you in the middle of a fast-paced, but not overwhelming, Hollywood horror movie.
  • Addictive single player, co-op, and multiplayer action gameplay from the makers of Counter-Strike and Half-Life
  • Versus Mode lets you compete four-on-four with friends, playing as a human trying to get rescued, or as a zombie boss monster that will stop at nothing to destroy them.
  • See how long you and your friends can hold out against the infected horde in the new Survival Mode
  • An advanced AI director dynamically creates intense and unique experiences every time the game is played
  • 20 maps, 10 weapons and unlimited possibilities in four sprawling "movies"
  • Matchmaking, stats, rankings, and awards system drive collaborative play
  • Designer's Commentary allows gamers to go "behind the scenes" of the game
  • Powered by Source and Steam

THE SACRIFICE

"The Sacrifice” is the new add-on for Left 4 Dead.

"The Sacrifice" is the prequel to "The Passing," and takes place from the L4D Survivors' perspective as they make their way South. In addition to advancing the story, "The Sacrifice" introduces a new style finale featuring "Sacrificial Gameplay" where players get to decide who will give their life so the others may live.

In The Sacrifice for Left 4 Dead owners receive "The Sacrifice" campaign playable in Campaign, Versus, and Survival modes.

Why did I buy this game? Why did I buy it knowing that it was an incomplete game, knowing that Left 4 Dead 2 is everything this game is, plus more?

I'll tell you, I got it for one reason. Because I want to see my own ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ legs! And that's worth all the money in the world!

When I was realllllllllllly young, I thought lfd 1 was the scariest game ever! LOL I'm not the kind of person to play scary games, but something about this game interested me. This addicting coop game was once my most played game and was one of the 4th games I had ever played. I guess me and my friends kinda grew up with this game. Then lfd 2 came out with new weapons and even melee weapons! Suprisingly, they kinda have simular yet different ways of playing! For anyone who has Left for Dead 2, I would consider getting the classic to get a new feel in Left for Dead! *drops mic and leaves stage* hehe

While they ported all of the maps to L4D2, I would still prefer this over the 2nd game for so many reasons, NO JOCKEY AND CHARGER, I wouldn't suggest getting this unless it's on sale, you're far better getting L4D2 because it has more players but I think Valve would have done a better idea if theyonly ported No Mercy at least people who doesn't own L4D1 can play No Mercy as a "demo".

Valve also promised that this game will still get update and support but we only got Crash Course and The Sacrifice and their reason as to why they it has to be another game instead of making it a DLC is because it is just too big to be a DLC, it is not impossible and someone had proven it (look for L4D2 on L4D1 on google) but then again I would like to remind everyone that this review is not a hate against Valve or L4D2. It is just quite sad that porting the campaigns from L4D1 to L4D2 really killed the game.

I've had heaps of enjoyment with this game, also met several people years ago but most of them have been offline for over a year and also lost contact with some.

DO NOT MIND MY SHORT PLAYTIME, I've had a hundred of hours on my old account.

I go the bundle game on sale, so I really can't complain. However, the price should be lowered.

Here are my personal pros and cons of the game, but I'll start with cons, so as to end on a high note:

Cons:

- Not many people play anymore
-Mods are limited
-Short campaign
-Too expensive when not on sale
-Singleplayer AI is ironically uniteliigent sometimes

Pros:

-I CAN SEE MY LEGS!!!
-Amazing sounds (soundtrack, sound effects, music, etc.)
-Graphics are good for the time
-I CAN SEE MY LEGS!!!
-Truly well done zombies (I like when they look like they have a hangover when they're not running after you)
-Nice game mechanics
-I CAN SEE MY LEGS!!!
-Cool props
-Visuals are nice
-No stupid invisible barriers on objects such as desks and barriers (invisible barriers disallowing you to jump on objects)

9/10 would do parkour while looking at feet again.

The mother of Left 4 Dead 2. Without melee weapons, this game is all about teamwork with firearms.
While there is less kinds of special infected, less numbers of them drops ingame, making the game pace slower, which is quite good for me.
However , the special infected bots are also more stealthy and , yes , stupid than L4D2. It is harder to spot them, but as you catch them in your vision , they can be defeated without much sacrifices.
One more thing, there is no more official servers which hosts online lobbies of this, as L4D2 became the majority of Zombie slayin' in Source engine. Only recommended if your friends already got / going to get this game, so that you or your friends can host a local lobby and play together.

High adrenaline horror! Interesting survival scenarios, original zombies, perfect shooting. Made for co-op but still enjoyable solo.

Casual Except When There's Tanks

Nah, but honestly this is a very fun game at times, yet recently I just haven't had the time to put into it.. If you can pick it up for very cheap then I would defiently reccomend it. Even if you are low-spec, as I am, since this game will run on just about anything.
