CreaVures is a platforming game mixed with simple puzzle solving. The puzzle part is to choose the correct creature to use in order to pass the level, or in order to grab all of the motes and essence laying around in the game. The graphics aren't great as far as creatures go, though the background are beautifully done with an Avatar style of night-life irridescence. Each creature offers a different option like a cat that growls at enemies (i.e. bats, birds, squirrels, monkeys, etc...) or hangs from fruits, a Porcupine that uses its quills to shoot the enemies or uses its quills to climb trees and leaves a ladder for others to use. There a total of 5 creatures that you will collect during the course of the game. The game doesn't take very long to beat, but the achievements are there to keep you playing if you're interested in that stuff. The animation and pace of the game is very slow and tedious. I felt that if the game allowed you to go at a greater speed that the game would keep your interest more, especially when you die and have to restart at the checkpoint. It's done well, so if this is your kind of game, go grab it. Overall a decent game to play with you children.

I wanted really hard to like this game, but I didn't get very far before decided I couldn't play anymore, sadly. Before I get to that, I'll lay out some positive things.

Pros
+ Relaxing pace
+ Pleasant music that meshes well with the world
+ Absolutely full of style
+ Competent platforming

Now for the unfortunate downsides...

Cons
- The CreaVures themselves do not follow eachother, forcing you to swap between them to progress, even in areas of little to no obstacles
- No co-op. The previous con could have been entirely nullified by this, though it would leave the single player experience the same. The setup is all but asking for local on-screen co-op

It makes me really sad that I have to give this game a thumbs down, but since those things were important to me, I had no choice.

However, if you can deal with those cons, this game is totally worth it.

This game is visually beautiful. I loved the backdrops and the designs of the characters. Gameplay was fun and pretty simple, though more than one playthrough is required to unlock all achievements.

A boring 2.5d platformer with cute character design, an atmospheric soundtrack, funny cut-scenes, cool bosses, frustrating controls, and repetitive gameplay. It's similar to Trine, but without the co-op and cool physics.

You can swap between two different creavure, each with unique BDSM abilities (e.g., having a long sticky tongue, being able of electrocuting partners, and poking others with spikes) to solve platforming puzzles. More of these critters become available as you progress through the game, and therefore opens up new ways to solve more puzzles.

This game could be recommended only for young and/or casual players.

From the first second Bitey appeared on the screen, I was hooked. It was one of the most relaxing experiences I'd ever encountered. The characters each have distinctive and charming personalities; they seem real, more so than many human characters in games. The rainforest is absolutely stunning, even at a lower resolution. The bioluminescence creates a soothing visual that relaxes the mind. The music adds to this soothing effect, with its mystical tone and flowing melody. The only negative point I can think of is its length; the game ends so quickly, while I want to explore more of the world presented in the game. But for this cheap price its really okay and worth it.

Pre-Release Review
This is one of those games which gets a free pass based on its artistic style. In this game you need to get some funky looking creatures through a black-light forest by using each of their special abilities. It would be nice if there was a two-player option, which I can't believe they didn't put in. CreaVures is nice enough that I was happy to put up with having to switch between two active creatures, making me feel like I was going back and forth quite frequently to accomplish the task at hand. Would I still buy it if I had the chance to reconsider? Of course. CreaVures looks awesome.

This is a cute platform game but I would definitely recommend it if you like adventure and working as a team. I really enjoy it but I'm stuck on a monster at the moment, lol. I will have to work harder to defeat him :)

The calm neon jungle look with an ambient soundtrack always playing makes the game pretty relaxing for a platformer. You end up with 5 well designed creepy/cute characters and you rotate between any two of them to use their abilities to get through the levels, similar to Lost Vikings and Trine. Kept me hooked enough to get 100% in one sitting.

The visual style is what struck me first. Its simply stunning.

The Creavures themselves are stupid cute, I mean, I want a Bitey for a pet right now.

The levels are creative, fun, and give you enough little puzzles to solve.

There is some back-tracking built in if you want to get 100% on each level (need certain characters), and the teamplay mechanic needs to be improved, but overall, the game is quite enjoyable.

Family safe, cute, & fun. A worthwhile purchase.

Fun! Not a difficult game by any stretch, but the atmosphere, music, and gameplay were very enjoyable. Provides several hours' worth of casual gameplay in a darkly-lit, surreal world. The cooperative aspect of the game was well-done. And the characters are adorable.

*Gnome Seal of Approval*
Platformer with a nice atmosphere. You control a group of creatures and have to navigate them all to the end of each level. Each creature have some special abilities which you have to use in order to help the rest of the group past obstacles.

The negative:
No customizable controls.

so... after playing some time i regret having paid any money for this. ask a friend to try this out before buying.

pro:

#that game is quite good looking at the beginning
#sweet characters
#idea/concept
#shiny colours

contra:

#no AI for other pet or however you call this little creatures (so you have to walk the same way twice, literally. except at "challenges" where really both are needed)
#didn´t see much story or background
#only destination: collect light orbs to save a dying forest - no why, where, what. no sign if it matters at all if you leave orbs behind
#physics and animations are really poor
#that short video sequences are kind of cute but the animations are way too slow... okay... little cat (bitey) coming out of some corner...5 seconds later... still standing... turning head ... 5 seconds again... (urf :/ )
#climbing animation of bitey totally unnatural
#restart at checkpoints after some unexplainable "deaths" (no obvious reason)

after all i will give this a second try where i´ll play a longer period of time but for this i likely need some beer and boredom - good concept, but i´d describe that as alpha or beta - much potencial not used - a pity

i quit playing after it was getting worse with every minute

its not bad but since u have to switch between 2 chracters with different abilities to reach the spots, it would make sense to make it a coop multiplayer game and not just singleplayer. its a neat game but it doesnt gimme the "wow this game is cool" effect

CreaVures is an attractice side scrolling action game cast in dark violets and purples. The game is more oriented around puzzle solving than direct combat and emphasizes strategic play by switching from one creature to the next in order to solve mini-puzzles needed to progess. The Steam Overlay and widescreen are both supported, and the music is appropriate for the overall atmosphere of the game. The one minor complaint about CreaVures is the less than perfect controller support. While the onscreen button tutorials and relatively easy control scheme make the game easy to learn, unfortunately the buttons do not seem to work on menus, requiring a switch to keyboard and mouse for that functionality. Minor gripes aside, CreaVures is a solid action puzzle title and I would recommend it to any player interested in the genre.

A beautiful game. This is where teamwork is proven by the animals you meet in the forest. Darkness is enveloping the forest and light is fading. Collect essences to help restore the forest. The conversations between the animals are cute. What else can I say? Beautiful, relaxing, and friendship.
