Why Early Access?

“After extensive development, we believe Mushroom Crusher Extreme is now ready to be experienced and enjoyed by players. However, there are still some features and tweaks left to be completed. The biggest addition yet to come is online and offline co-op multiplayer, both of which require substantial testing with the players. That is why we are entering Early Access. Valuable user feedback and extra financial support will help us make MCE the best game it can be.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We are planning, and will do our best, to release version 1.0 within the next six months.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Apart from polish, bug fixing and possible content additions, our main goal is implementing online and offline co-op multiplayer to MCE.
Among other planned additions are such features as the Dictionary (codex of in-game terms) and Music Room (a collection of all in-game music).”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“In the current state, MCE is fully playable. Most of the planned content is in and the game is roughly 70% feature complete. Players can complete all the levels in single player mode. Bugs and other minor issues can be encountered, and we count on the player feedback to help us identify and fix them.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Once the final version of the game is out, the price will increase.
All the players, who have purchased the game with the Early Access price, will be entitled to the final version and its updates for free.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We have a planned outline for bi-weekly updates for MCE. After each one, we will be posting a changelog, open for discussion. The update outline is flexible, depending on the issues that come up and, possibly, players’ suggestions.
The list of currently known and worked on bugs will be available for the community.
We’ll do our best to respond to the comments, but, even if we don’t get the time to answer - you can be sure all feedback is taken into account, one way or another.”

Hey, folks! How's your summer going?
We're putting out a patch with some bug fixes but also few nifty additions Accomplishments, Trinket stats and menus. Check the changelog below for more details.

MCE Version 0.97.4 - August 10th, 2017
  • Features
    • Enemy weakness damage is highlighted
    • Portions of the menu that are not in use, are darkened for clarity
    • Added a tips section in the beginning of levels to give useful pointers to players
    • There is a new Accomplishment for destroying Mycelium
    • New Trinket stat: Recon
      • Only used by Trinket #37 for the time being
      • Affects information provided by enemies, such as drops

  • Adjustments
    • Menu buttons animate more visibly
    • Level Select Menu now better indicates if you're missing some levels
    • Made spell demo entry animation three times faster in Equipment Menu
    • Players can no longer spam ingame chat with notifications
      • Notifications now replace the previous one unless certain amount of time has expired or there was a chat message in between
    • Added more sound effects to enemies' movements
    • Added some new UI sound effects
      • Entering pause plays a short jingle and pauses music
      • Exiting pause, when in online Co-op, plays the same jingle that's played during countdown
      • Receiving chat messages from other player plays a short beep
    • Massive buffs to Aqua Sphere
    • Area of Effect/AoE Spells are now simply called Area Spells
    • Made Terror's Return a tad easier
    • Tutorial tutorializes a bit better
    • Made a couple of Accomplishments less grindy
    • A few Dictionary updates
    • A whole slew of Trinket changes

    • Fixed Whirlwind collision detection
    • Fixed a bug where some longer sound effects would end abruptly
    • Fixed a bug where menu changes would interrupt chat
    • Zoom-in and Zoom-out keys no longer work when writing chat messages
    • Fixed Arven Shrooms collider
    • Gaia Strikes no longer rumble the controller when in victory menu
    • Equipment Menu updates bought items properly in Local Co-op
    • Fixed various Trinket bugs
    • Fixed UI icons using wrong sprites
    • Skeletons no longer spam teleport when stunned or jolted
    • Fixed enemy AI getting stuck if player damaged an enemy from too far away
    • Skeletons no longer get teleport crazy after knockback or stun
    • Fixed bug in game HUD where in Local Co-op, Player 2 global cooldown radial would fill the spell icon inaccurately
    • Fixed Local Co-op damage indicators not showing up for other player when using Split Screen

  • Adjustments:
    • Skeleton’s shadow fades away during teleports
  • Fixes:
    • Amnesia status prevents Trinket specials from triggering
    • Tutorial no longer plays main menu theme
    • Fixed a bug where spells would collide with enemies far away from them
    • Fixed various enemy AI's getting stuck when too far away from their target
    • Certain enemies can no longer jump over your spells
    • Fixed a bug where enemy defeating was not tracked, preventing players from leveling up their spells

Mushroom Crusher Extreme is a retro-styled arcade-action game, in which you take control of Zenon, a mage with a mission to repel an invasion of giant Shrooms on his native archipelago. Battle against time and use your elemental magic to vanquish the invaders before it's too late!

Along with retro visuals, Mushroom Crusher Extreme follows old-school gameplay sensibilities: simple on the outside, complex on the inside. Though unforgiving to beginners, understanding its mechanics will lead to a satisfying experience.
