Thank you for bearing with us!

Hello fellow detectives,

Time for a tad of updating. Thank you for all the positive feedback, we are very happy that you are enjoying the game. Also kudos to all the bug reports we have received. Although we tested the bear out of it, you were able to find some fluffy stuff that we never encountered which helped us greatly to solve it ASAP.

If you are wondering why your game was updating on Steam, here’s why, we:

  • fixed a bug where you could exit Amber's Room without Ted E. Bear
  • fixed the achievements, all are now obtainable as intended (Missed Opportunity)
  • fixed Ted's hints, they were not working as intended in some situations
  • fixed the subtitle encoding, some special characters were not being displayed correctly
  • fixed some minor spelling errors
  • fixed an error in which the Clock in the Hallway did not have the proper animation enabled
  • fixed some other minor pesky bugs

Some of the first impressions are arriving on various gaming web sites, if you enjoyed the game you can help us spread the word and share them with your fellow friend snoops.
  • "The story and characters are extremely well written, and the inter-character dialogue is a joy to behold” - 93/100 Pixel Pop Network
  • "Bear With Me is a wonderful point-and-click adventure game which crosses the cute with the serious. This chapter starts a wonderful story that I hope to continue exploring in the future.” - 8/10 OK Games
  • “Bear With Me oozes style and humour, and we’re looking forward to seeing how it will unfold and which other characters we’ll meet along the way.” - 4/5 Click Online

Bear With Me is clearly a passion project and a labor of love, but it doesn’t use this as an excuse but rather puts in the work to deliver a well-polished experience and and an overall satisfying return to form for the adventure genre. Misgivings about some artistic choices aside, I liked what it offered and found the concept of imaginary playtime itself to be a clever framing for the story. It has a very cohesive style, clearly knows what it’s going for and I’m looking forward to playing more episodes as they show up. In fact, I can bearly contain myself.

Fun Noir atmosphere, some of the puzzles didn't make sense (tack for clock, how to make a stamp) But i enjoyed this nonetheless.

Just an ISsue with Nvidia cards, it won;t display (at least not for me) unless i'm recording.
Switching cards to onboard fixed the issue, just a heads up to the devs there.

Extremely cute with wonderful child-like puns, pretty art and sillyish noir overtones. As for the gameplay, it's a classic point and click. You talk to people, pick things up, combine with other things and look for that wonderful combination where you push the story forward. Everyone who likes point&click adventures should definitely play it.

Pros:
-Comedy
-Has all of the lines voiceacted
-Music and sound effects are surprisingly well balanced
-A hidden object game with replay value (as rare as they come)
To say any more would be to spoil all the fun I'm afraid.

Cons:
- Mediocre voce actors (not a big con though, didn't stop me from enjoying the jokes)
- The art style is really good but I would have prefered not to look at monochrome images for hours on end.

This game is definitely worth playing.
The art is based on Film noir and it really gives the player a feeling of watching a mystery/crime movie.
Story and characters are interesting, especially the main ones.
The thing that I loved the most is the humor. The game is full of funny dialog, references to some TV shows and easter-eggs.

If the first episode was this funny and interesting, I can't wait to play the second one.

Great job Exordium Games team :D

Short, but enjoyable. There's a few quirks and imperfections, but nothing that really ruins the game. For anyone who's ever enjoyed 'Calvin & Hobbes' or likes cheesy noir, the game atmosphere will feel right at home. I'd definently recommend it.

My video review https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ngrp5MRkeQ

But if you want to read my review then keep reading.

Story
In Bear with me is you play as Amber. You and your ex partner Ted. A retired old detective that is a teddy bear. Are
trying to find Amber's Brother after he has disappeared. With a mysterious "Red Man" Being the prime suspect. The red
Man has been going around asking about Amber and fires have been started every where he goes.
The story is written really well with a lot of 4th wall jokes and references that will have you laughing out loud a lot.
Bear with me is Funny, Dark and entertaining from beginning to end.

Gameplay
Bear With Me is an episodic noir point and click adventure game with horror elements. With a really great
Noir style. Its a fantastic point and click game. Almost everything you can click on. Some of the dialogue when you click on something is really hilarious. Bear with me doesn't innovate the point and click genre but
is entertaining from beginning to end. You can always ask your partner and he will give you little hints on what you can do if you get stuck. But with that said I still got stuck a few times. But only for a few minints. But that didn't take away from the gameplay because that will give you time to explore and here some of the funny dialogue Bear with me has to offer. The game is non liner. You make dialogue choices. But i don't know if it effects anything lateron in the story in future episodes but that would be cool if it did.

Sound and Graphics
The music in bear with me is good. Everything from the creepy song when your at the beginning of the game the the background Noir music is fantastic. The graphics have a really good style to them. All being uniquely drawn. Everything mixes together well with a fantastic Noir style that is unlike to bear with me. All the character designs are fantastic. With all of them are drawn with a cartoony look. The voice acting in the game is really good. With a bunch of talented voice actors that don't sound out of place in the game.

Bugs And Glitches
Through out my time playing thankfully i didn't run into any crashes, game breaking bugs or anything like that. The only glitch i had was the red man film effect I got in the game after I reloaded a save I had in the hallway.

Final Verdict
Bear With me is one of the best point and click game i a have played in a long time. But after i finished the first episode It left me wanting more of this fantastic game. And I cant wait to play the next episode whenever that comes out Thats why i give bear with me a solid 8/10 and a recommendation to buy it rather than wait for it to go on sale. The game is only $5 And its worth all of what its going for. And i can recommend this game to anyone that likes point and click games. The game is only about 3 to 4 hours long but i enjoyed it the whole time i was playing it.

What is Bear With Me?

Bear With Me is a story driven episodic noir point and click adventure game. It has been developed and published by Exordium Games and is released today.

The game tells the story of Amber who is awoken in the middle of the night to find that her brother, Flint, has gone missing. In order to find him she relies upon the assistance of Ted E. Bear, a retired detective who is also her beloved teddy bear.

Exemplary Character Writing

It is made clear at the beginning of the game that Amber’s relationship with her teddy has become strained. They’ve gone through a number of adventures together. As a result, Ted has become grumpy in his elder age. However, their bond is undeniable. This is the type of character and relationship writing that is on display from the start of the game. As a result of this and a continuation of the high level of character writing throughout the game I was suckered in immediately. There is a certain level of charm that is certainly not common place in adventure games anymore.

Sensational Voice Over Work

If the quality of the writing isn’t considered sufficient for a point and click adventure game anymore then the quality extends through to the professional voice over work. The immediate character writing acquired my attention but the voice over work sustains it. I am particularly fond of the voice over work performed for the Ted E. Bear character. The actor was able to perfectly marry the noir theme of the game.

I’ve come to expect surprises from small indie studios. However, to see the quality of the voice over work on a studio’s first ever adventure game – and their second game overall – is one of the most significant yet. I am thoroughly impressed with the majority of the work. The passion and the tone injected into each line is a driving force behind what should be a successful game.

Dark Comedy

If you are a fan of dark comedy then you’re in for a treat. The game is funny from start to finish with much of the dialogue using cleverly delivered puns and sarcasm. It is in my opinion that the script is a significant reason why the voice over artists are as enthusiastic as what they are.

Is it Steamified?

Yes. Bear With Me comes with trading cards and 27 Steam achievements. Some of the achievements are generally considered to be a little on the aggravating side (for example ensure that you click on every painting and lamp that you come across). Some of them contain references and easter eggs. For example, there is a lamp that humorously mentioned Resident Evil. There is part of an achievement in the study that deserves to be heard.

Verdict

For someone who hasn’t spent significant time playing point and click adventure games recently I was impressed. The genre is generally too slow for my liking and I don’t enjoy spending time trying to solve puzzles that don’t always make a lot of sense to me. However, Bear With Me is an entirely different story. The pacing is well done and the humor and the overall presentation was something that I was very surprised to see. I honestly haven’t enjoyed a game in the genre as much as this since some of Daedalic’s best works and before that games such as The Secret of Monkey Island. This may be on the next level below that but for an indie studio it is a wonderful achievement.

Fun little game for the price! The dialogue is well done on behalf of the Bear. Snappy, cocky, just like the old gum-shoes of the 40's. I am looking forward to the next episodes!

While it is not perfect Bear With Me was a surprisingly good point and click adventure. The game does a great job creating an interesting noir. The setting is pretty dark (not scary) but is balanced by surprisingly funny dialog. While everyone won't find the game to be funny I was surprised by how much I laughed while playing the game. The game's characters are interesting and the game's story shows potential.

Being an episodic game, Bear With Me is just one chapter of a larger story. It is a great start for the story but is on the short side. The game is only around two to three hours long. I would have finished the game in around two hours but I spent around an hour looking for an item in the background that you need to proceed in the game. The game ends just as the story gets going. Bear With Me is a good start but it is just the start to a story.

The only main issue I have with the game is that it isn't particularly challenging. The good news is that you don't have to waste time just guessing what you need to do next. The problem is that the puzzles are so straight forward that there really isn't much puzzle solving in the game.

At this point I would say that Bear With Me is a good start for a larger story. If the game's premise interests you I think you will enjoy the game.
