What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Early access gives you the ability to help shape Assault on the Necrospire. Your feedback will directly impact how the game is developed and the direction it goes in. While Assault on the Necrospire is in a playable state, the final floor is still in development and the game may contain bugs. If you would rather play a game that feels totally complete, please wait until further on in the early access period or for the final release.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Assault on the Necrospire will be in early access for around 6 months.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version of Assault on the Necrospire will feature controller support, additional items, rooms and secrets. It will also be released with an optional hard mode, aimed at players who want an extra challenge. Hard mode will alter gameplay mechanics such as room layouts and AI behaviours, rather than granting enemies flat damage bonuses. Venturing through the Necrospire will grant permanent unlocks so progression can be felt through different runs.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Assault on the Necrospire currently features all 9 floors, 140 items, 8 unique boss fights and over 110 room layouts. It also now includes co-op, whereby you and another player can venture through the Necrospire together. Additional content and features are being added on a regular basis. Whilst great care has been taken to ensure the game is stable, some bugs may still exist.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The game's price will not change after early access. All early access purchasers will receive the full game automatically upon release.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“With countless combinations of items, spells and relics, community feedback will be hugely important for striking the right level of balance in the game. New features may be introduced or existing ones may be removed depending on the responses from the community. Whatever your thoughts, please get in touch.”

11/06/17 - Controller support beta

Hi all,

Controller support is now available for testing on the beta branch. To access this branch, you'll need to take the following steps:

  1. Right click Assault on the Necrospire in your steam library
  2. Click on the betas tab
  3. Select beta - 1.2.1 from the drop down menu
  4. Your game should update and display a controller status on the bottom left of the main menu
Please ensure that your controller is plugged in before you start the game. As I've only been able to test this functionality on an Xbox controller, I am particularly interested to hear from people using other gamepads. If anything doesn't feel right or isn't working properly, please let me know. Thanks.

Edit 17/06/17
Controller support has been deployed to the main game branch as patch 1.2.1. Many thanks to those who tested on the beta branch.

About This Game

Assault on the Necrospire is a roguelike with an emphasis on interesting loot and character building. The Necromancer has destroyed the wizard order, leaving only you alive. You must venture through the ever changing Necrospire to bring him to justice.

Discover a wealth of loot
The Necrospire is brimming with loot, granting powerful (and sometimes unusual) effects. Mythical items await those able to reach the highest floors of the Necrospire, bestowing extraordinary abilities.

Define your build
Choose how you want to fight with an inventory system that allows you to change your build on the go.

Harness the power of magic
Equip spell tomes to modify your attacks. Slow your enemies, burn them to a crisp or even freeze them in time. Up to 5 spell tomes can be equipped at once, combining their effects together.

Up the challenge for greater rewards
Enable difficulty modifiers such as double bosses and exploding enemies, making the Necrospire far more dangerous but increasing your chances of finding rarer loot.

Equip ancient relics
Use powerful relics to summon companions to your side, teleport yourself across a room, fire deadly volleys of arrows and much, much more.

Face challenging enemies
Powerful foes await you as you climb the Necrospire. Use your equipment, spells and relics to even the odds.

A new experience each time
Each journey into the Necrospire is randomly generated; no two runs will be the same.
