What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“SOS: Shout Of Survival is primarily a multiplayer game with online play. Early Access is especially important for games with a strong multiplayer component, to ensure a robust online experience, but also to balance and tweak the gameplay. The only way to achieve this is by getting feedback from lots of players.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We're aiming for a 2016 release for SOS: Shout Of Survival, but it won't be released until we're completely happy with it. The release date will be locked down as we go through Early Access and start to learn more about what needs to be done to complete the game.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

  • Extra Levels
  • New themes possibly with new mechanics
  • Better Animations
  • FINISHING MOVES for Monsters
  • Tweaks and polish across the scope of the game
  • Music tracks and sounds

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

  • Unique gameplay that focuses on sound. Better use your headphones!
  • Different playstyles as a human and a monster. Being the hunter is always different than being hunted!
  • Easy to learn gameplay. Learn the controls and start playing right away!
  • Online Multiplayer: Play with random people from all over the world.
  • Play with friends: Or you can play with your friends by inviting them to your matches.
  • 9 fun levels and more with updates.
  • 3 themes each with unique mechanics and more with updates.
  • Unique art style.
  • Customize your characters with A LOT of combinations.

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“At the moment, there are no plans to change the price after release. There might be a release discount. However, what we are sure about is that the price per unit will still be cheaper if you get the 4 copies deal (11.25 USD/Game compared to 15 USD/Game if you get a single copy).”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“The backbone of community involvement will be the game's forum. Every post will be read by the developer and some, where appropriate, commented upon by the developer. Whilst this will be a good way to gauge community response to aspects of the game, we will also run polls whenever that makes sense to get consensus on specific features.

For the multiplayer, we will organize weekly coordinated play sessions, to make sure there are enough people online at the same time to properly test the multiplayer systems. The community will be free to play online whenever they want, but these coordinated sessions will hopefully be useful to make sure there are enough players online at the same time whilst the user base is still growing.

There will be a bi-weekly cycle for version releases. As much as possible, these releases will be done on the same day so that players know when to expect new features. The release will be accompanied by a project update showing what's new in this version, as well as what is coming soon.”

Introducing Monster Dash! The new way to catch humans! Version 2.8 Alpha

Hello everyone, we are proud to announce our latest update 2.8 Alpha.

Introducing the Monster Dash!

This is a feature that has been requested multiple times. In older versions, monsters catch humans by just getting close enough to them. However, now we changed it so that monsters need to Dash in order for them to be able to catch the humans. When you dash, you can only move forward, so there is a chance that you will miss the human. If you miss the human, you will have a penalty on your movement speed for few seconds before you can run at full speed and dash again. Dashing happens by pressing (X or ▢ or Q) buttons.

We also improved the UI. Abilities, powers and dash will pop and have a sound once they are ready to use again. This is specially useful when you are absorbed in locating another human or running away from a monster. It is always good to know when your tools are ready to use!

Here is a video showcasing those features:

The latest update to our latest game mode (Monster Transformation). Version 2.7 Alpha Patch Notes

Hello everyone, we are proud to announce our latest update to our latest game mode (Monster Transformation). We added a time limit for the match. A match used to take 12 min+. Now there is a 5 minutes limit. In order to win, the humans need to meet for 15 seconds. When the time is up, the game goes to overtime. In overtime, the game ends when humans meet for 2 seconds only.

Also, when humans meet now, multiple meetup orange waves will start shooting, indicating the location of the meetup. You will also see the countdown of the meetup in the game’s log. The meetup waves will help the monsters locate the humans for a chance to catch either of them before the 15 seconds run out.

We also improved the human AI. Now the human AI will recognize the other human footstep sound and will try to reach the other human even if there are walls between them.

For better gameplay, we increased the human meetup range from a radius of 2 to 4 meters. This will help in improving the play experience specially when playing online.

Lastly, we did some changes to the UI for things to be clearer. We increased the game log size and flipped the item and skill UI and added the timer.

Here is a new video showcasing the gameplay:

About This Game

What is Shout Of Survival?

A multi-player SHOUTING (not Shooting) game where 2 monsters hunt down 2 humans that are trying to reunite.

In the darkness with minimum vision, Humans shout out to each other. They will know their corresponding location by hearing and following the sound direction.

However! The monsters will also hear them and will run to the humans before they reunite as they can also hear them.

The Monsters have a constant scary sound ongoing, so humans will be able to hear monsters incoming and will be able to also assess the direction from their scary sound.

The Monsters have a special ability where they can HIDE their voice for few seconds, AND THIS IS WHERE IT IS FUN for the monsters. As soon as they think they are approaching a human, they can hide their sound and close in to the humans to give them the scare (and death) or their lives!

Where did this project come from?

Shout of Survival is based on our critically acclaimed game jam winner (Reunion). Even YouTubers like Markiplier played our original game and had positive feedback. After observing the positive vibe that Reunion generated, it was clear that a game about hearing works very well. As a result, we decided to take it to the next step.
