Most people do not like With Fire & Sword. I see why this is true. The guns often one shot, the single player is often more based on caravan running than fighting, and it's in general a pain in the ♥♥♥. The only way to get any action is to fight a nation, as there are too many patrols in the game for bandits. However, the customization of mercenaries and the actual fighting is TONS of fun. If you can wade through all of the boring ♥♥♥ start of the game, you will find glory. I had fun with this game, but I reccomend simply getting Warband with Napoleanic wars, unless you REALLY want singleplayer with guns. 8/10

Fire and Sword fills the Eastern Europe of the 17th century with the gunpowder of muskets and grenades.
Mount & Blade and his revamped and more complex reprint Warband have developed within a committed community to tip, especially because of the many mods that come in all flavors: From the Hundred Years War between France and England over the Napoleonic Wars to Star Wars , Fire and Sword is based on its such a fan mod to original Mount & Blade. Which now appears to be completely reworked and more professional than alone executable addon based on the Warband engine.

A new feature of Fire and Sword that we can now follow an act within the framework of special missions. Here, we choose not only a fraction, but also need the power struggle between the respective throne holder and a usurper decide which fails even in the best case, the third in our favor. So we can ascend example, the Russian Tsar.

Could skillful players still massacred in Warband as a single knight whole armies single-handedly, so make the most penetrating and powerful muskets and deadly for riders pikemen nearly impossible. Instead, now is the protection of their own Musketeers at the top. How can an army that curls up with a car castle, beat numerically superior army clearly. And the rush to fortresses, it happens that even before climbing the ladders a large share of the attackers.

The rudimentary commands that we can give the troops thus obtained more importance, but the personal duel gets caught behind. For this purpose, we can still throw (outrageously expensive) grenades into the crowd or blow a hole in the rampart before an assault. The new war is not necessarily worse than the original, but simply strongly dependent on the taste of the player.

Multiplayer:

The changes in warfare become especially noticeable in the hugely popular multi-player mode. Up to 250 players struggle here in eight different modes to fortresses or wearing open field battles against each other. Again, it may happen that struck down, despite the large scatter of the muskets still on 100m of a bullet, before we came even close to the enemy.

The enormously long reload time makes the shooters extremely vulnerable to close combat. Who has cleared before hard-equipped and with a two-handed sword armed group of musketeers out of the way, you know what we mean.

Each troop type has thus continue its meaning, even archers or pikemen. And the grenades are not super weapons, but have (except for a direct hit) less damage effect, but are more likely to get the opponents of the legs and einzunebeln the view. As in the single player mode, the changes remain strong taste here.

I like Fire and Sword. I love the era (significantly more than the Middle Ages), I personally like the changed feeling in the battles and in multi-player mode, and I like the campaign of historical and realistic background.
Objectively I have to hold but: Fire and Sword is not as good as Warband. The little bit of story campaign, the game bought back by screwed complexity, the Captain-mode does not wake the expected enthusiasm.

Score: 74 / 100

Aye, over thousand hours have been sunk in Mount & Blade With Fire and Sword.
And why I've sunk so many hours in this game, you may ask,
The answer is: because I really love the time period of this game and I find it most interesting part of history.

But let me tell you what the game is:
The game is basically reskin of Warband with muskets with the singleplayer which is a sniper simulator in a nutshell.
Multiplayer is full of pike-spammers (is that even a real term?), badmins, musket snipers, horsearchers who can headshot you miles away and stupidly fast infantry (like Crimea and Cossacks) who can almost outrun a horse.

I have very negative thoughts of this game and only good thing is the time period of game.

Perhaps this is bit harsh judgment but buy this game if you are masochist, perhaps then you will find this game fun.

Edit: review updated with more explanatory content and (hopefully) better grammar.

So good! Watered-down crap graphics but the gameplay and combat is incredible! Sword fighting comparable to Dark Souls. You have the ability to have 500+ AI controlled soldiers in your army you build and train, you can give them commands and make them group up into formations! Very strategy based and with the introduction to Firearms it creates infititely more strategy decisions! 8.9/10.

Pretty similar to Warband, and still good, and the graphics are a very small amount better. However, I can't seem to get in to it as much as I do Warband..I would say just play Warband, its better than this one, with ♥♥♥♥ tons of mods that can mostly emulate what this game has. I honestly wouldnt buy this game, if you have the money for Warband. If you have the 20$ (or only like 3ish dollars on sale) Buy Warband, It's an excellent game. But this one is still ok, its basically the same concept as Warband, but for some reason I just can't get in to it like I can Warband.

Awesome combat system and immersive world. Even though based on a fictional novel it feels historically relevant as you battle in the name of your homeland.

Highly Recommended.

It is a very good expansion to the Mount & Blade series! Although the Napoleonic Wars DLC trumps this one in popularity, it is still worth the money to buy this DLC.

The Multiplayer has very few players (One or two active servers with a few dozen people) and in my opinion is ok compared to Native M&B Warband. However, there is no focus on ranged over hand-to-hand combat as both are used no matter your preference. There's archery, musketry, swords, shields, spears, crossbows, etc., etc.

The part I really like is the Singleplayer campaign, despite it being similar to the other DLCs. I just have a liking to this one in particular over the others for some reason, probably the guns (Since Mount & Blade Vanilla and Native Mount & Blade Warband don't have guns :D)

My rating, With Fire & Sword of course! :P

There is not a lot of games if any like this. it has battles that you can take part in battles between hundereds of troops, then eventually become king if you wish. this game is so good, i feel bad for buying the collection for 8$ on bundlestars. i have zero complaints with this game, its simply perfect.

Gosh, I will start this review with one sentence...no, better, one INQUISITION, YOU, YES, YOU, you there sitting on this chair, YOU. WILL. BUY. THIS, GAME. this game it's just...man...it's just the game, I mean it's warband, but with way improved well..."diplomacy" I guess I can put it in this way, and some handy options, as for example you can speak with the elder of a village just clicking with one button, instead of doing all that work to do so as in warband, I mean, don't get me wrong, Warband it's a damn awesome game and i'm not trying to say which is better, but this game as I have said is almost the same as warband...Oh and of course RIFLES and BOMBS

This is significantly more difficult than the original Mount & Blade which is good. I enjoy it more, but the troop recruitment and training is very confusing. Overall: 3 out of 5 stars. It's definitely worth it if you see it on sale.
