About This Game

In an open sand box world you choose your allies, your enemies, what provinces to conquer, what castles to siege and what quests to embark on. With Fire & Sword builds and expands upon the highly regarded combat system from Mount & Blade: Warband. Firearms have been introduced to the battlefield. Additionally, muskets and pistols can now be used as sidearms in hand-to-hand combat to quickly drop your foes. In addition to the enhanced singleplayer mode, With Fire & Sword also provides a host of original multiplayer content including the new game mode: Captain.

Key Features:

  • A storyline based on the cult novel, "With Fire and Sword", from Nobel-prize winning author Henry Sienkiewicz.
  • A new century of warfare that brings pistols, muskets, grenades, and other advanced weaponry to the battlefield.
  • Fully customizable armies; players can outfit their soldiers with each piece of weaponry & armor.
  • Additional quest types. More political intrigue with colorful factions. More adventure in a new land.
  • Multiple endings to increase re-playability.
  • Deeply researched historical component encompassing every aspect of the game's assets.
  • Ferocious new multiplayer action, bringing players the thrill of pitting old technology against the looming threat of firearms.
  • 3 Main Story-driven quest-lines for the player to delve into once they've become known in a particular faction.
  • Additional quest types.
  • Implementation of firearms, adds a whole new layer of strategic depth to the franchise's proven combat model.

You better be ready to be challenged.Number of bandits, looters and deserters is largely increased, there is no salt nowhere for the village missions, and you get sniped every single time. Its a refreshing experience from the normal M&B,really interesting to see how gunpowder really changes everything, new clothes, new weapons, cities, and names, and all of this on normal mode. One can only imagine the horros that await beyond this dificulty.

The tutorial is really fun :D

This game's mechanics are terrible, stick with mount and blade if you donj't want to rage at the game screwing you over (as it does many times).

Some examples of this:

Sided with Poland, we were doing well until two polish cities (one was Warsaw) mysteriously became Swedish (no siege, no reports of being conquered).
King constantly sieges city that is alternately taken by 3 other powers constantly, we lose all of our forces doing so.
Forces really want to siege a city in the heart of the enemy's territory on the other side of the map. So they do this, and it causes 1000 problems.
Have to do a part of the main quest where nobody from the country knows the location of the guy I have to visit (literally no one, talked to at least 10 people) and I have never seen him once. So I can't progress in the main quest at all which I need to do. Amazing.
Somehow 150 troops are faster than my army with only food supplies and half cavalry units. What the hell.

Tons of other problems like these can be avoided by playing native/modded Mount and Blade Warband. Seriously, don't buy this if you value your time at all. If you want firearms just buy the Napoleonic Wars DLC for Mount and Blade Warband (multiplayer only).

Very good game but only if you're into this type of games. It's cheap ♥♥♥ hell both on sale and off sale, right now it's like $1,24 which is a focking joke, even soda pop costs more than this gem. And I'd tell you that it is defintely worth even $20. But enough about it's value. Game has a lot of content as for such game, entertainment is almost endless, for example I've never finished any of main quests but still enjoyed it tremendously. I spend few hundred hours (off Steam) with this and never got bored. I would recommend it especially for people that aren't familiar with XVth, XVIth and XVIIth century Poland, Ukraine, Russia and Crimea - it's a great way to learn more about our culture and history. It might somehow clarify, for not acknowledged, why Crimean Crisis occured, what's going on in the Ukraine and why are these countries so important in present day world.

Graphics - even though I've taken under consideration the fact that is outdated, it still sucked for its times: 4/10 (doesn't matter much if you enjoy the game itself)
Music - stays in the climate of those times and those places: 9/10
Content - enough for such game: 7/10
Gameplay - many times I've had batter things to do (like study to not be a ♥♥♥♥ing failure) but I rather played F&S: 9/10 [disclaimer: difficult to stop playing once you get into it]

Dude just focking play it, it's 1.24 for focks sake

Good game but it's really meant for big M&B fans (Like me). Guns seem OP and there are many types of bandits that will try to kill you or capture you. Other than that if you're a big fan of the series its a must try. I recommend you get it on sale.

YEs! this game has everything that made Warband great plus early era guns and cannons! i put off playing it for a while, because i was worried the guns would be too overpowered and sometimes they can be. you can be mid to late game and be a super high level with tons of health and armor and get murdered by a couple stray bullets, but it's not something that's going to happen a lot. especially if you play smart. i think this game requires much more strategy than Warband. in warband, by the time i've level 40 or so, i can wade into a battle and kill 20-50 people on my own and it's much harder to do that in this one because of how much damage guns can do. you also tend to have more casualties during battle and numbers tend to matter more. it's like they took all the good parts about warband and added to it. more quests, a new world, new factions, more and different weapons (including primitive grenades). beyond all that, the various factions have their own storylines which i did not need, but kind of love. playing as the polish will have some different quests from the swedish which are different from the russians which is different from the crimeans. the addition of the story elements add some believability to the various relations between the factions because you learn why they like the factions they like and hate the factions they hate.
if you played warband and like it, you'll most likely enjoy this game too. if you haven't played warband, i recommend getting the mount and blade full collection and playing warband first, then coming to this, because there are some major differences in gameplay. i assure you the addition of guns and bombs adds much more depth and strategy to this game than warband had to it. that's not to say warband was bad or too easy, just that guns make it easier to kill than swords. which we all already knew anyway.
