Breaking News: Anno 2070 Trading Cards discovered in time capsule from the future!

S.A.A.T. scientists have been left scratching their heads after the unearthing of a mysterious object at a Global Trust mining site near Jorgensen Plateau.

The discovered metal capsule is emblazoned with an image of the Moon and the number “2205” - prompting speculation about its origin “from the future”, to quote Dr. Wallace Breen, administrator of the operation. Inside, a set of impressive paintings was found, depicting everyday life scenes and vehicles of the year 2070.

Message and purpose of this baffling find remain a mystery so far. We contacted S.A.A.T. director Dr. Salman Devi for comment and invite our readers to enjoy reproductions of these mysterious pictures we have prepared as Anno 2070 Trading Cards.

Worst Anno ever. To much water, to few factions and no pizza...even 2205 is better.

Requested a refund for this - as it will not start.
Spent hours, trying to get it working - trying every recommended thing from various forums - still no luck.
Windows 7 SP1 x64 - i7-4770K - 32GB RAM, GTX1070 - Not a system problem! - Every other game (many) - Working fine - and usually if there is some issue initially - forums and help - get it sorted....
Not so for this game.
So - Be aware - you many not be able to get this running!

Buy with caution - and I'll update this review with update if I get my requested refund - or if I get it going.

Note - Error message I get (from the game - not steam) is -

---------------------------
Problem starting the game. There was a problem starting your game. Make sure you have no other games running that use the Ubisoft Game Launcher. If the problem persists, try reinstalling the game.
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------

UPDATE - I got it working.
After much searching - I managed to find UPlay to download by itself.
I also found that I already had a Uplay account from years ago from some other game - so reset my password, jumped through a few hoops - stood on one leg, held my mouth at the correct angle - and now it is working.

Have removed my request for refund now - But I still stand by my original warning - If you're not tech-savvy or have the time, patience, google-foo and admin rights on your computer - getting this running is probably not going to work for you.

DRM (not pirates) - Is what is going to reduce revenue for this gaming company!!!

The game itself is awesome but it is slightly south of ****sville if you can not log in because it is asking for the CD which you already gave the first time you played and it tells you the key is already in use by another customer--yes the customer is me it was used when i bought the game. So now i can not log in and the customer service said oh here is a fix that of course does not work.

If you buy this game do not say no one told you of these problems because if you look at the reviews you will see I am not the only one and the company does nothing to help.

BUYER BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!!

I built a fantastic city and had many citizens and my economy was great.
Did not pay attention to the Eco-Balance and a Tornado destroyed it all.
10/10 Will Do Again.

On a more serious note however, it seems to me that a lot of people are having trouble with the DRM that is installed with the game. Now personally I have had absolutely no trouble with the DRM or UPlay, I installed it fine and I signed up for UPlay and there is even an option to have the game launch with UPlay, so you do not have to open UPlay with Steam then launch it. Like I said before I have had no trouble during the installation of this game.

I have played more than 40 hours and I have to say that I have barely scratched the surface of the surface of this game. So far the game has been very fun and enjoyable every single minute of it. It does take some time to learn, so if you are not the type of person that can handle learning a whole bunch of information at once, I would recommend not getting this game. However, if you are the type of person that can slowly dig into a game with patience and grattitude, I would highly recommend this game.

This game is a mix of a City-Builder, Economy/Resource Management, and Real-Time Strategy. I would recommend this game to you if you like games like Cities: Skylines, Age of Empires, or any other type of games like that.

Like I said before, I have had no trouble with UPlay or any other DRM issues that other people seem to be having. I do not know if it is a random chance that it works with some people or what, but it worked with me.

I recommend this game.

Don't get me wrong; Anno 2070 is an amazing game, and I've loved every hour I've put into it. But UPlay has made it completely unplayable. IF you could actually play the game, this review would be as positive as they come. But this is the third not-working key Ubisoft has sent me to try to make their game even so much as play, and I don't want anyone else to fall into the trap that is their "customer service".

Bought this game a year or two ago, while its a fun game it runs into some Ubisoft issues from what I know.
My key is inactive like so many others by the looks, making it impossible to play the game.
End of story is don't risk it.

I played about 43 hours of this game a year or two ago. Then today I felt nostalgic and wanted to play it again because I was feeling a bit city builder ish. I go through the install process then the Ubisoft login appears. I don't remember my PW or username; I'm sure I can just find it by doing a forget yada yada but I am already logged in on Steam, why do I need a Ubisoft account again? I don't recommend this game based on the sheer stupidity of Ubisoft's absolute need for DRM.

Bought game in Summer Sale (July) 2016. Game installed but would not let me play. Ran in background and chewed through play time. Writing this review just shy of my 120 minutes of trying to get it to run, and then getting refund. Tis a shame: seemed like such a sweet deal...

I enjoyed this game in Singleplayer. No complaints.
Then I convinced a friend to buy this game during the Summer Sale so that we can play it together. Well but other than you would expect it from a game that was released after the 1990s you just can't invite a friend and play together like in every ♥♥♥♥♥ single other game i have in my libary - that would be to damn easy for ubisoft.
You have to go through some router and firewall config to get this game working in mp. The webside that explains you how this works only shows that with a fitz-box. "What you have another router?" "Well have fun finding that ♥♥♥♥ out on your own, ♥♥♥♥♥♥!". The pictures that show you how to do it with the fritz-box are outdated as well and you cant see them either. Well Ubi doesnt seem to care enough for their community to keep a freaking picture online.
'Cause one Middlefinger in our face isnt enough for them.
Well here is my answer for that: Don't buy this game

I love the game (concept of it).

(spoiler ahead!)
Pirate it if you can, because DRM is cancer; its even worse its a desease which laughs at you, when you play.
So back to the topic did I mention that: "The Ubisoft ♥♥♥♥ is really annoying."?

I have setteled to just watch youtubers how they play instead of me, I've seen countles of youtube content about this game. just watch and eat popcorn.

I DO NOT RECOMMEND.

DRM is a blight to the industry and all I hear from the devs or publishers is all the whining about pirates stealing the game (which is all propaganda) and I'm NOT sorry to say that any game that uses DRM pretty much won't get a sell out of me (excluding this one, of course). I tried to give drm a try, you know give the dev/pub a shot but it is too ridiculous. As a steam client I should not have to deal with this. The Whole selling point of steam is to put all your games in a convenient library only to have to agree AND sign in elsewhere and pass those hurddles... ugh. PASS! And now unfortunately this game just sits in my library and does nothing. Well, actually thats not true... it stands as a reminder to never buy anything from this dev/ publisher again. Because you know, there is always another dev or publisher to take their place.

Graphics - 8/10

Story - 9/10

Gameplay - 9/10

subtract 10 for DRM

Final Score - 0/10

I spent more time installing this game - than playing it so I hear it was supposed to be pretty good. However, Having to install Uplay and then having to use my cell phone to activate a google authenticator. Even to access my online uplay account I had to get another code from google authenticator in order to log in online. I ultimately decided to uninstall this. If they are so worried about me stealing then it is not worth my time. I wanted something simple.. not all this DRM

On another note, I was not too keen on the futuristic one world order stuff in the game for sustainablity.. call me old fashioned but overall I just want a simple RTS like Age of Empires, etc.
