Breaking News: Anno 2070 Trading Cards discovered in time capsule from the future!

S.A.A.T. scientists have been left scratching their heads after the unearthing of a mysterious object at a Global Trust mining site near Jorgensen Plateau.

The discovered metal capsule is emblazoned with an image of the Moon and the number “2205” - prompting speculation about its origin “from the future”, to quote Dr. Wallace Breen, administrator of the operation. Inside, a set of impressive paintings was found, depicting everyday life scenes and vehicles of the year 2070.

Message and purpose of this baffling find remain a mystery so far. We contacted S.A.A.T. director Dr. Salman Devi for comment and invite our readers to enjoy reproductions of these mysterious pictures we have prepared as Anno 2070 Trading Cards.

Very good game. I spent so much time playing it. Still love to play it from time to time.

The negative part is that you need UPlay and UPlay is bad. Also, there is a lot of DLC.

I really like the building system that Anno has, it has a really nice focus on development and expending. It has beautifull music and graphics (even now). I would have liked it if there were factions to choose from but that's ok. I really enjoyed the multiplayer (when it worked). That is also where the games problems lie, UPlay is just so bad that it ruins the experience of playing this game. I had several problems with getting my game key to work propperly (so did many of my friends). Adding friends didn't work propperly as did inviting friends to join your multiplayer. That is why I can't recommend this game.

Good, but not as magic as 1404. Perhaps because that was the first in the series I played, but this didn't steal as many hours from me. Still, it's very pretty, and being able to choose between green energy or modern culture works well.

This game is not bad, in the beginning when you learn how to manage a city.

After a while, like my 18 hours playing this, I started to feel really really bored of this game, as the gameplay is repeating itself, and there is just not much interesting things happening anymore.

If you're bored and have no games to play, and you like building games, you can spend a little money to kill 15 hours of your time for the week. If you really want a good building game, maybe not this one.

Awesome city builder game that has a tad bit of entertaining combat.
Honestly when I first played this game I hated it, but I spent 4 hours on it so I couldn't really return it. Therefore, I can back to it a few days ago and actually payed attention and managed everything properly. Hell what do you know it was actually pretty fun. The game offers a lot of variety and plenty of replayablility. The factions always create wars and things turn into complete messes if you don't get involved in foreign relations or you cause them.
Once you learn about the supply chains of the game and actually stop to learn everything it becomes very fun. It's awesome seeing your civilization grow and daunting when it begins to collapse and you have to save it. It's as addictive as CivV and I recommend to all

This game, first and foremost, is the most expansive, intricate city-builder I have ever played. The number of structures, units, etc. is stunning. There are three different, largely unique buildings tracks, each with their own style and appearance. The fun part is mastering each and then using them together. While the diplomacy and combat are somewhat rudimentary, they are adequate and add a further level of complexity to already intricate gameplay. Moreover, it is a gorgeous game. You will play this game for one hundred hours and still be amazed by it.

The problem, of course, is getting past the first 5-10 hours. This game has a very large learning curve and has almost no tutorial. What tutorial exists is a very bad one. I believe this is why this game has received bad reviews in the past.

Overall, I would recommend this game highly, if you have the endurance to learn its gameplay. And I am writing this having not even purchased a single DLC. I can’t wait to do so.

And now im going to pirate it just out of spite. I suggest you do the same.

The game is not intuiative at all, and i found myself being beyond frustrated knowing what I needed to do and why it needed to be done, howevere I did not know what keystokes/mouseclicks on what menus I needed to go to to do those tasks

I purchased this game in 2011. I have never been able to launch it (I can get into the main menu). I have tried numerous times in five years. Ubisoft DRM stops me everytime. You can see I have 3.5 hours of time in-game. That's time spent attempting to connect to Ubisoft's servers, and also time the game (at the main menu) has been minimized while I've been troubleshooting. Nothing. Numerous support tickets over the years have not even yielded a single response. I have one open now that's been unanswered for a few hours shy of a week. Worse, I am not an exception to these issues. 62% of ~7000 reviews are positive, and quickly scanning the negative reviews shows that a large number of paying customers share this problem. That's at least 2500 customers that Ubisoft has basically written off over the years, and it doesn't even include the customers who don't own the game on Steam or haven't given it a thumbs up/thumbs down. That's bad. I wouldn't chance this if I were you.

Edit: For anyone that's curious, after ten days I finally received a response from Ubisoft support. I was told I need to activate the game on Steam. In fairness, I'm not sure I made it perfectly clear in the support ticket that the game is installed on Steam, so I messaged them back. We'll see where it goes. It is worth noting I think the ticket classification which is essentially "key is already in use" corresponds with an error message you get in-game that tells you all the same. This is why I didn't specify in the ticket, as I thought it was obvious. If I was having an issue activating a game on Steam, I certainly would be contacting Steam. Ubisoft's prescribed steps don't even seem to work, as the Steam Product Activator doesn't recognize the CD key string as a valid string. Indeed, given the sheer number of reviews complaining about having the exact same problem I am having, you'd think Ubisoft would... well...

the game was OK, I feel like it gets overly complicated the bigger you get, like I lose steam the further I delve into the campaigns sometimes when you're busy micromanaging colonies you already setup that you've already moved past. that being said, it was well thought-out with resources and trying to find resources needed on other islands etc is a supply chain puzzle that's fun to solve. looking forward to the new space one, but only when it goes on sale.

I bought this game ages ago. I made sure it worked, but I only played it for about 30 minutes. Now few years later I wanted to give it another try. It doesn't even start anymore. All it does is start the autoupdater. The game got updated on my first attempt to start it. It showed me a loading screen and crashed without any error message. Since then it doesn't even get to the loading screen after the autoupdater closes down.

I absolutely cannot recommend a broken game. Searching the forums and reading other reviews, I came to conclusion that this is fairly common problem. Way to go Ubisoft.

Pretty clear the Ubisoft no longer supports the game as I have gotten no help in solving my activation key issue. Uplay and the Game ask for the Key twice, when entering it again, it says it's invalid. I am not able to play the game at all.

When I COULD play the game, I had a lot of fun and would have given it an easy recommendation. At this point, I would turn most people away simply because the maker is Ubisoft.

Not the game i have an issue with but UBISOFT they are the worse gaming platform ever! i purchased this game and a couple of others. I made an account with UBISOFT i loaded the games and could not sign in. When i finally could sign in the server says my games keys are already in use and won't let me play the games. I have tried reaching UBIJUNK many times by opening a ticket and by email never recieved a replay after weeks of trying. I wish steam would drop UBIJUNK for good they are NOT needed steam is far better. I wasted my money with my purcheses. NEVER again!

I don't usually like to write reviews. When I write them, its hard to put my thoughts into words because my understanding of a game is almost always different than another person's understanding. Nonetheless, I need to write a review for Anno 2070 because i've spent enough time with this game to put my thoughts into words. TL;DR is at the bottom if you want it.

I'll start with what most people consider the deal-breaker with Anno 2070, which is Ubisoft and their toadies Blue Byte and Related Design. Ubisoft, in their *infinite* knowledge, decided to shoehorn in their UPlay DRM for what seems to be no reason. In fact, all it does is break the game for some and make another hoop to jump through for others. Either way, its annoying. But reviews on Steam aren't gonna stop them, so I won't drag on about them.

But I will drag on about Blue Byte and Related Design. If these guys weren't owned by Ubisoft, I can make a safe bet that if these guys were runned by a more consumer-friendly company, than we wouldn't see issues like losing integral parts of the game overtime or having to jump through hoops to get the game running. But the problem is that these developers are too afraid of telling Ubisoft to shove-it, so we end up with all these issues in their games. I know that both of these developers can produce very amazing games, but because they can't be self aware we end up with carcasses of games overtime.

Enough about the people, let's get to the game. It is basically the mammoth of the Anno 2070 franchise. More factions, more AI competitors, more goods, more everything! This was my first Anno game, and although it was a little overwhelming at first, I got the hang of it after a while. This game is luckily very well polished, and has been updated overtime to make a better experience. The soundtrack, graphics, and mechanics are all top notch. I couldn't have asked for anything more. I'm not gonna get into the gameplay, but once you look on YouTube or you play the campaign it'll become easy to get the hang of. I do want to warn you though that certain features are just plain different from when the older videos were made or when the campaign was made. As of writing this review for the game I am in the works of creating an updated tutorial/let's play for anyone who wants to get into this game now. That may be available at some point.

Let's just address some new things before I end this review. The DLC is certainly worth it, and expands the game so much you can't resist. It will make your life easier. However, the only DLC you may want is the Deep Ocean expansion. The rest is just little cosmetics or things that will be a minor benefactor in the end. As for the current state of the game, they removed the 'World Events' system, which is a little bit of a pain, but you'll probably still be okay. The best part of Anno 2070, in my opinion, is the experience building and nuturing a whole civilization. That won't ever be going away, so if you wish to share that experience, then this game is certainly for you.

TL;DR: Although Ubisoft and their Toadies are a pain, the actual game is a breath-taking experience that will be a staple of the city builder for a long time.

Took a leap of faith with this one. Never played any of the other Anno games but was intrigued by the concept. Lucky I did. The gameplay was fantastic, graphics were beautiful. The story was short but good. One thing I really love about the game is the replay value. Trying to get your culture to the pinnacle of society and combining the other factions to help was awesome. The game can be lengthy which in my opinion is great. The combat could have been done slightly better. Not a fan of requiring the Tech's airplanes to finish off islands or waiting for your boats to starve them out by taking out the ports. Overall a very great game
