Good times here. but be ready to spend a few hours at a time. Even with Ubi Soft DRM it's still a sweet game.

Gameplay is like Simcity meets Global-Warming.

Pretty decent, only problem I have is that I had to go through 5 front-ends to get to actually play the game.

Steam->Ubisoft Authenticator-> Uplay Patcher->Ubisoft Uplay Experience Login and then In-game patch.

Why do companies insist on doing this? Lol

I was craving death after the third patch led me to yet another screen that wasnt the actual game.

But aside from that the game itself was actually kinda fun. lol

This game reminds me of Caeser, Pharoah, and the other economy-based city-builders of the 90's and early 2000's. I haven't played any other Anno games so I cannot comment on if this is a good or bad Anno game, but I've really enjoyed it. You have to build a city while managing a bunch of different resources, which are used to upgrade your city and advance up the technology chain. You can only get certain resources from some islands, so you need to either expand your empire or trade with other players. It's a little complex, and it can get very overwhelming in the late game when you are dealing with many islands and every resource, but it's really satisftying when everything clicks into place and you have a functioning chain of islands.

The big downside is the Uplay DRM. It's actually problem-free for me, but I can't deny that it is utterly useless. It runs in the background for no real reason, and you need to sign up for a Uplay account. If you're lucky like I am, that's all the interaction you'll need to do with Uplay. I know some people have an avalanche of problems, so your mileage may vary.

Get the Deep Sea expansion, because it adds a whole new faction to the game and it feels incomplete without it.

I'm not sure if the campaign really goes anywhere, and the bulk of the game seems to be based around the sandbox-esque continuous game mode. So, if you're looking for goals and missions, you might want to look elsewhere. If you like managing cities and supply lines, and micromanagement is your game, you'll probably have a great time here.

Beautiful, Smooth, and Enjoyable. Unlike other strategy games like Civilization, Meridian: New World, Starcraft, etc, this game focues on more realistic ideals. Economy, Citizens, Resources, and the Environment are the main aspects. Now you may say that this game sounds like any other, but it focuses on these aspects greatly. You can't just build a mine on a resource and expect it to instantly be accessible and have the resource flowing to your city. Time el facto is one thing, it takes time for resources to go from point a to point b. Citizens have needs and there are different demographics for citizens. They level up as you fulfill there desires earning you more technology and resources. The economy is based on your tax income and expenses. Unit maintenance, citizen's needs, tax rates, and trade all affect tax income. The important part is the environment. Disasters, cities, units, and resources are affected by how polluted or clean the environment is. Great game, Co-op is good, everything is good.

Would you like to see yourself building your own Empire in the year 2070?
Thanks to this game, now it is possible. Rise from ammong the 2 Factions,
through industrialisation, trading and citizen infrastructure you will prevail
and, sometimes necessary agressive military action will grant you victorious.
Whether you expand on the islands or underwater, it is a promise that you
will enjoy this game and learn how a society grows from zero to the most
advanced ones known to man.

P.S.: This game might be a little time consuming, but is extremely enjoyable.

This might be a good game. I sure don't know - dealing with Uplay and Ubisoft's DRM is too painful for words.

This may be a good game but I would not know, I cant even get it to start. No matter what I have tried it will not load past the Uplay login screen. I will prob keep trying from time to time but I would rather just have my money back.

Uplay won't let me start the game because their login server is down, or so says the message. I do not recommend any game with UPlay.

Some uPlay thing pops up forcing you to login. After logging in, it crashes, and the game cannot be played. 100% waste of money.

Uplay launcher has stopped working.
No idea if the game is any fun... The installation process is certainly not.
Thank you for keeping us back in 2004 Ubisoft. ;)

Anno 2070 is a real-time city builder with strategy elements.

Because of global warming, the ice caps are melting and slowly the earth is flooding.
Your task is to re-populate and rebuild a small piece of earth.
Recources are limited and you aren't the only one trying to survive.

There are three factions in this game; Eden Initiative(eco's), Global Trust(tycoon's/polluters) and S.A.A.T(tech's).

Pro's to this game:
- Long play time
- Very nice graphics
- Futuristic but not completely over the top
- Speed-up ability (which you will use allot)
- Missions for other factions can be done for rewards
Con's:
- Once you have a good strategy, you will just repeat this for every map
- You can build an army, but it is not really suggested since it is better to cooperate.

If you want a strategy game with violence; Command & Conquer might be for you.

Simply put this is a game were you have to face consequences for your actions.

The goal is build a city, but with that city you must meet needs such as food, drink and activity only after you balance the production web needed for that city.

There is no single end-game task, more of less goals to achive along the way. If you turn on ramdom enviromental event your city could suffer from anything from a tornado to a volcano and there is always a chance your city might have arson and mass illness so you have to plan your city to deal with these issues as an ongoing concern.

Overall a great game, easy to get in the ways of profit, easy to master (once you understand the process) and not an easy ride like Sim City.

Very fun game, fairly simple mechanics if you're new to the Anno series like I was. However if you are new to RTS/Resource management games in general this may be quite daunting as the game does not have a basic tutorial as such, though it does teach you some mechanics. The game always has new scenarios even when you're done with the basic campgains (though they do feel slightly short). I liked the voice acting and story elements the campgain has, very well done and the graphics quality is excellent, the game looks beautiful at times as the building designs are fantastic.
Also the underwater elements are very very cool, something I have never seen in an RTS or even Turn Based game before, being able to build underwater bases is very very cool, which I think the DLC focuses more on (though I am yet to get that).

Anno 2070 is a great game that takes elements like city building, food production to air and sea combat with a futuristic them. The campain is ok, but doesn't utilise all the interesting things that vs ai does or multiplayer does. I personally don't like how certain AI wont attack each other at all and a wider variation of AI personalities would be cool, Overall it's learning curve is good and takes a few hours to grasp.. great game if you like RTS, city building, and combat.
