A pretty great game. Great platformer which has fun puzzles that of course get progressively harder as the game further develops. I also liked the minimal black and white graphics combined with darker, fitting atmosphere. There's almost no storyline, no intro and everything is kept very minimal in this game. All in all I'd rate this game about 8.5/10, and would absolutely recommend it to anyone that likes puzzle and platformer games.

Limbo is a puzzle game set in a black-white coloured world which tends to get harder and darker the more you progress. The controls are basic, so you can get started right away without a big learning curve.

As I said, the puzzles you encounter get harder the further you are into the game, which is a good way to introduce the player into the type gameplay that Limbo offers and how the players can interact with the world and the environment.

More about the puzzles; They are quite unique and the sometimes disturbing or gruesome solutions for them are not what you'd expect. This in combination with the perfect matching atmospheric audio (Which are even a must to complete some puzzles. Dont turn them off!) can/will give you some moments of scare. But that only makes the game feel more alive.

The only thing that bothered me was the fact that you can not set the audio volume lower. The loud audio at some chapters of the game became pretty annoying a few times.

Overall, this is a great game where you have to set your mind to. It is worth the price if you are into these kind of games. But even if you aren't. It is still an amazing game.

Even though I already had the PS3 version of LIMBO, when it was free on steam I decided to play it again. It's rather short, but the gameplay and the atomsphere are amazing. For the $10 pricetag I'd say it's a bit steep, but if you love 2D platformers/puzzle games and don't mind some eerie stuff, this is the game for you.

LIMBO is a very interesting game. Instead of telling a story, it just plops you into the game with puzzles that you think might be easy. But in reality, it requires some thinking and some critical timing. LIMBO is also an intersting game for it's visuals. Instead of going for a colorful world it goes with this black and white textures with very little bright colors.

If you love puzzle games. I strongly recommend LIMBO. If your unsure, you can try out the demo.

great game worth getting! the art style and feel of the game is unique and interesting. However, don't expect this game to hold your hand! I often got stuck multiple times and had to look online for clues on how to solve the puzzles. If you like puzzle platformers this is the game for you. Even if you don't (like me) this game is still an amazing game that has so many secret meanings.

At first I though it's a lovely little puzzle game, but when I saw guts and gore and dead body flying around I changed my mind. Puzzles are fun at start, at the end they become much harder. I had problems with knowing that something is usable, with precise timing of actions and with necessity to watch how boy's body is dismembered.
The game is not bad, so I can't press the "Not recommended" button.

I've always heard of good things about Limbo, but it never piqued my interest enough to buy it until I got it from the HB Store. It's an atmospheric platformer with a minimalist approach to just about everything. When you start the game, you're just shown a little boy in the middle forest, and from there you take over. The main character can only move around, jump, and do certain actions if they're near certain objects such as pull a lever or press a button. There isn't much of a story and it's mostly left up to interpretation but I'm sure that was done on purpose.

If there's one thing that I can truly appreciate about this game it's overall look of the game and the atmosphere it's able to give off. The devs did such a great job making you feel alone as you travel throughtout the game. They did a good job making me feel anxious and even scared as I went through some levels. HOWEVER this is game is far from a masterpiece, it isn't perfect. I was enjoying the game very much until the later half of the game when it changed its approach on level design. They start introducing new gimmicks such as gravity which really put a damper on the game for me personally. It wasn't difficult, but it didn't mesh well with what the game did so well in the first half.

I got my enjoyment out of one playthrough which lasted me about 3.5 hours. I don't feel the need to go back for another playthrough unless I want to get the achievements or eventually forget how the scripted events go. I would recommend getting this on sale unless you are 100% positive that you will do multiple playthroughs for this game since the game is a bit on the short side for 10 dollars.

LIMBO is a side scroller puzzle game, developed and published by Playdead (creators of the spiritual successor, INSIDE). I cannot say much about this game's review so let's talk about gameplay, art style and theme of the game. I got this game for free when Playdead announced LIMBO would be free to celebrate their latest release, INSIDE (you should check it out, yo). You play as a lost boy who mysteriously arrived in the forest without explanation (You can interpret things what is going on). The theme of the game is monochromatic with minimalistic feel (no HUD or anything at all) and disturbing content. You come across with puzzles as you progress throughout the game and they are clever design that made stupidly easy and also required timing and reaction time. This game is very difficult than it would be. The soundtrack is well designed as well. The duration of this game is short (at least 3 and a half or less than that if you are speed runner player).

+ Pros
+ Level Design
+ Mystery Story in your own interpretation
+ Monochrome with minimalistic art style
+ Immersive Sound Design
+ Pacing

- Cons
- There's nothing negative about this game (unless you whinge about the difficulty of the game, so feel free to put that as a con for some)

Overall, this game is such a great game. The best platform game I have ever played. The level design, mystery story, the minimalistic art style and clever puzzle design made me push forward to finish the game. You can go back and start a new game again to find the secret eggs or finish the game at minimum 5 deaths, in order to get achievements. I highly recommend this game, it's a 10 out of 10, a highly recommended game to play.

Limbo started off as an experience. Similar to what you'd expect when seeing the trailer for it: an intriguing and relaxing theme of soft mystery through a peaceful environment. Distinctly stylistic, mostly lush and natural, industrial bits sometimes in moderation. Light puzzles are sprinkled in here and there. Nothing complex enough to ruin the experience or slow the progression.

Then the puzzles get complex. Water puzzles. Gravity puzzles. Magnet puzzles. Speed puzzles. Timing puzzles. The only good thing I can say about them is it'll start you right back in front of the puzzle you failed instead of make you do an entire segment over like most games.

LIMBO loses it's magic as the difficulty increases. It became just another puzzle game by the end. The lush relaxing environments largely became plain beam platforms and simple straight angle rooms. The magical relaxing nature disappeared because of the difficulty spike. The world's mystery theme vanishes entirely as though the story was only early bait made specifically for the trailer.

I honestly feel a little let down. This game had a magical feel for half of it. Then the second half dropped that. I wouldn't be surprised if two different people designed separate halves of the game.

Limbo
Child Death Simulator 2011-2016

What is it? A dark and brutal 2D puzzle platforming game.

Gameplay: Puzzles are smart and rewarding but can be frustrating, they are very trial and error based. Often using physics very well.

Story: The story is not told via cutscenes or dialog, a lot of it is for you to figure out from the occurances and backgrounds of the game.

Controls: The controls can be rather annoying at times on the keyboard, but would probably play better with a controller.

Aesthetic: The style of this game is beautiful, the black and white colour palette is pleasing to look at and also adds to the dark, unknowing atmosphere of the game.

Graphics: The 2D art of this game still hold up today (in my eyes) and the background looks great too, making you feel even more alone.

Running/Bugs: The game is easy to run and i did not come across any glitches, framerate drops or really any broken parts of the game.

Verdict: If 2D trial and error puzzle platforming and child death is your thing, then you sould definitley
pick up this indie release. The death scenes will definitley scare younger audiences.

7/10

For me it was too brutal but I still enjoyed the intellegent puzzles and aesthetic.

A++++++ would play again.

No BS like long/boring story or cutscenes. Just pure unadulterated gameplay.

Challenging and frustrating but highly enjoyable.

Its a really nice game but I think some of the timing puzzles are a bit irritating near the end.

The concept is really good though.
