Limbo's selling point is definitely the art and the atmosphere it conveys.
The puzzles are also quite good, but you can realistically finish the game in three to four hours.
It doesn't offer much aside from that, you can safely forget about the story.

Buy it on sale if you like this kind of short and artistic game.
If you're looking for a good jump'n'run, platformer or puzzle game then your money is better invested in an other game.

Limbo is depressing, yet beautiful.

The gameplay is some of the most basic platformer, with heavy emphasis on puzzle element. The graphic is simple but sometimes can be a bit scary. Story is where Limbo shines, even without naratives Limbo manage to deliver some deep emotional journey, that in the end will left you wonder about the death itself.

This game is a 2D game, a simple game, but it's a masterpiece. This game makes your brain work, it makes you be concentrated, sometimes panicked, sometimes calm.

I recommend this because:

> improves your concentrations
> improves the speed of thinking
> it makes you think abstract
> improves your agility
> calms you down
> not very colourful so you eyes are resting
> it worths 10 euros even if it seems a simple gameplay

If you got this in your library then play it and if not buy it!

This is a work of art. Every little aspect of this game matters so much and is critical for relaying the most perfect, dark and chilling atmosphere. For example, if there was no soundtrack, this game wouldn't be nearly as good. This game will leave you really wondering what you just played. 10/10 would teach kids to never play with sawblades again.

I got it for free, but if I didn't I would definitely get it on a sale. (I never pay full price)

Movement and control are great and sound/graphics [aesthetics] are superb and perfectly match the story. Acheivements are fun even for casuals and people who suck at games like me. Except for the last one (finishing the game dying five times or less). This one is hardcore AF.

10/10 would fall in a spiked pit again

During most of this game I didn't felt scared, but I felt with an empty sensation like, something inside of ME was missing. Maybe that's what the game tries to make you feel.

At first I though it's a lovely little puzzle game, but when I saw guts and gore and dead body flying around I changed my mind. Puzzles are fun at start, at the end they become much harder. I had problems with knowing that something is usable, with precise timing of actions and with necessity to watch how boy's body is dismembered.
The game is not bad, so I can't press the "Not recommended" button.

I've always heard of good things about Limbo, but it never piqued my interest enough to buy it until I got it from the HB Store. It's an atmospheric platformer with a minimalist approach to just about everything. When you start the game, you're just shown a little boy in the middle forest, and from there you take over. The main character can only move around, jump, and do certain actions if they're near certain objects such as pull a lever or press a button. There isn't much of a story and it's mostly left up to interpretation but I'm sure that was done on purpose.

If there's one thing that I can truly appreciate about this game it's overall look of the game and the atmosphere it's able to give off. The devs did such a great job making you feel alone as you travel throughtout the game. They did a good job making me feel anxious and even scared as I went through some levels. HOWEVER this is game is far from a masterpiece, it isn't perfect. I was enjoying the game very much until the later half of the game when it changed its approach on level design. They start introducing new gimmicks such as gravity which really put a damper on the game for me personally. It wasn't difficult, but it didn't mesh well with what the game did so well in the first half.

I got my enjoyment out of one playthrough which lasted me about 3.5 hours. I don't feel the need to go back for another playthrough unless I want to get the achievements or eventually forget how the scripted events go. I would recommend getting this on sale unless you are 100% positive that you will do multiple playthroughs for this game since the game is a bit on the short side for 10 dollars.

Caveat: Steam offered this program for free sometime during or around the last Steam Sale. That's the only reason I have it. It's a platformer, and, in general, I don't like platformers. I don't like the time pressure the game puts on me at various locations. I don't like the jump/miss/die/repeat activity to get through the puzzles. I don't like the "discovery by death" methodology used in the puzzles.

But, realizing that those are personal preferences, I've got to admit that from a technical perspective, it's a well done game. The visuals, though basically a shadow-play, are all good, the controls (once you figure them out) are simple, and the checkpoints are close enough that the constant dying isn't too onerous. At a technical level, my only real issue is that there's no explanation for why everything and everyone in the game is trying to kill the player.

It took me 6.3 hours to play the game with all Achievements except for the final big one (play it through in one setting with 5 or fewer deaths). Since I don't like platformers, I doubt I'll ever try to get that last Achievement. So, at my dollar an hour metric, I'd say anything below $6 would be a great price (and since I got it for free, I can't complain). So, I'm recommending it (with reservations).

LIMBO is a side scroller puzzle game, developed and published by Playdead (creators of the spiritual successor, INSIDE). I cannot say much about this game's review so let's talk about gameplay, art style and theme of the game. I got this game for free when Playdead announced LIMBO would be free to celebrate their latest release, INSIDE (you should check it out, yo). You play as a lost boy who mysteriously arrived in the forest without explanation (You can interpret things what is going on). The theme of the game is monochromatic with minimalistic feel (no HUD or anything at all) and disturbing content. You come across with puzzles as you progress throughout the game and they are clever design that made stupidly easy and also required timing and reaction time. This game is very difficult than it would be. The soundtrack is well designed as well. The duration of this game is short (at least 3 and a half or less than that if you are speed runner player).

+ Pros
+ Level Design
+ Mystery Story in your own interpretation
+ Monochrome with minimalistic art style
+ Immersive Sound Design
+ Pacing

- Cons
- There's nothing negative about this game (unless you whinge about the difficulty of the game, so feel free to put that as a con for some)

Overall, this game is such a great game. The best platform game I have ever played. The level design, mystery story, the minimalistic art style and clever puzzle design made me push forward to finish the game. You can go back and start a new game again to find the secret eggs or finish the game at minimum 5 deaths, in order to get achievements. I highly recommend this game, it's a 10 out of 10, a highly recommended game to play.

Limbo
Child Death Simulator 2011-2016

What is it? A dark and brutal 2D puzzle platforming game.

Gameplay: Puzzles are smart and rewarding but can be frustrating, they are very trial and error based. Often using physics very well.

Story: The story is not told via cutscenes or dialog, a lot of it is for you to figure out from the occurances and backgrounds of the game.

Controls: The controls can be rather annoying at times on the keyboard, but would probably play better with a controller.

Aesthetic: The style of this game is beautiful, the black and white colour palette is pleasing to look at and also adds to the dark, unknowing atmosphere of the game.

Graphics: The 2D art of this game still hold up today (in my eyes) and the background looks great too, making you feel even more alone.

Running/Bugs: The game is easy to run and i did not come across any glitches, framerate drops or really any broken parts of the game.

Verdict: If 2D trial and error puzzle platforming and child death is your thing, then you sould definitley
pick up this indie release. The death scenes will definitley scare younger audiences.

7/10

For me it was too brutal but I still enjoyed the intellegent puzzles and aesthetic.

A very nice platform game, the artwork, the puzzles and concept is good but not great. Quite nice sounds, blends quite nicely with the environment. Played it on both Android and PC.

8/10 : One time go, satisfactory and yes i received this game when it was free for a day, so no hate.

Peace
