Good 2D platform puzzler. Some puzzles are quite challenging and the game does not hold your hand or help you in any way, however the quick respan and frequent autosaves after each puzzle allow you to keep trying until you figure it out.

Look, I know this game is super-popular and everything... but I dunno. I kinda found it a little boring and tedious? I'm two or three stages away from finishing the game, and am having a hard time summoning up the willpower to slog through the rest of this repetitive bore of a game.

Sorry, guys. File this away under "Not For Me."

So, I've been raving about this game on other platforms as I played it… I still need that one last achievement for bragging rights, but now that's I've basically finished the game I thought I should sum it up for all to see…

The ONE and only reservation I have isn't even a fault of the game: it's just that the creepy atmosphere, especially the gruesome (quite fequent…) death animations might not be to everyone's taste. If that's a major turn-off for you, this is probably not a game you should buy.

But.

Otherwise: run for it. No hesitation.

I love how the puzzles work: a few are timing-sensitive, but most allow you the space and time to think things through, without the usual stress I get from games where I'm going to lose everything if I don't get it right instantly;

I love how the game saves at each new puzzle, so you don't get annoyed with having to replay what you already solved over and over again, just to get back to the last point you failed. Again, it makes the game much less pointlessly stressful, and more engaging. If I had to rerun everything ten times when I come across a more difficult obstacle, I doubt I would have gone through the whole thing so avidly…

I also loved the ambiance, both the black & white theme that makes the gory deaths less in-your-face and distasteful, nd the sounds-but-no-music… which became so OBVIOUS a choice in the very last chapter. <3

And finally: I LOVED that last chapter. It really feels like a reward, an encore for players furstrated to have reached the end. You want more? Oh boy, here's more… and then some. It's like a hot cup of good coffee after a luxurious meal.

In conclusion: I absolutely, wholeheartedly recommend this game to all who like situational puzzles (kind of like in Zelda games, but more elaborate since it's the core of the game), as long as watching your cute little dude getting smashed, impaled & decapitated every two minutes or so doesn't bother you. (Or, you can try avoiding deaths… but good luck with that on a first playthrough!)

This game is a 2D game, a simple game, but it's a masterpiece. This game makes your brain work, it makes you be concentrated, sometimes panicked, sometimes calm.

The only thing that bothered me was the fact that you can not set the audio volume lower. The loud audio at some chapters of the game became pretty annoying a few times.

Overall, this is a great game where you have to set your mind to. It is worth the price if you are into these kind of games. But even if you aren't. It is still an amazing game.

Amazing Game completed it in 4,7 hours could probably be faster if i would give it a second try because some of the puzzles were really hard tho :P and to figure them out took me a long time xD. But anyways loved the gameplay, story, puzzles and music so much. This is probably one of the best indie games made by a great company, who i heard released another indie game called INSIDE (which im definitely going to buy now), if you like indie games and especially ones with great a great story and with great and challenging puzzles you should definitely give this game a try, I'm telling you, you won't regret this decision :)!

10/10 Would defintely play it again! :)!

If you play LIMBO, you will want to smash your keyboard, screen, mouse, everything! That's how I felt about the game. Jokes aside, this game is amazing, you will be frustrated by every puzzle, but you still enjoy yourself.

The chapters are really great and they are always changing, the best one however, has to be the bonus level/puzzle, collect all 10 eggs with the help of a guide and see for yourself.

Limbo is an incredible achievement. Very few games are as original, atmospheric, and consistently brilliant. It belongs in everybody's collection. The journey may be over too quickly, but you will be entertained every minute. This is one of my favorite games.

The primary character in Limbo is a nameless boy, who awakens in the middle of a forest on the "edge of hell" (the game's title is taken from the Latin limbus, meaning "edge"). It is a place in Latin Mythology, in which there is a heaven and hell, and Limbo is a place between those two destinations. It is a place that is believed to be reached if you sin, but not enough to be determined to go in Heaven nor Hell. Ergo, they aren't bad enough to go to Hell, but not good enough to reach Heaven. The idea is supposed to be mild punishment; hence all of the obstacles and puzzles. Whilst seeking his missing younger sister, he encounters only a few human characters who either attack him, run away, or are dead. The information above was eventually confirmed by the creators. Nothing more, nothing less.

I love this game I hate spiders and I taught one a lesson
I am literally the worst at puzzles by far, but this game actually made me feel good about myself for about 2 minutes time, which was nice lmao. The dark atmosphere is a bit frightening at first, but you get used to seeing it after a while.

Even so, the black and white tints make it a really unique experience, and I always feared for the next puzzle. The puzzles were actually really well done, and definitly made me think to the point I may or may not have gotten a headache, and the achievements were satisfying to get.

I just wish this came with some steam cards to collect, since it would be pretty cool; but otherwise I can't complain too much. Totally going to get their next game: INSIDE next, and you should too.

Honestly, this game changed my opinion on the word "limbo" now. I like it :>
10/10 would Limbo again

TL;DR Limbo is a Puzzle / Platformer that is quite tricky
Rating: 7/10

Pros:

+Short: Doesn't overstay it's welcom
+Interesting Mechanics: Each puzzle starts fairly simply, then eventually ramps up into something quite challenging
+Aesthetics: The black and White aesthetics is consistant and quite thought provoking
+Achievements mean something: The achievements can be quite tricky to get to, even if you know where they are, especially the hidden achievement

Cons:
-Short: The game for me quite abruptly ends after You crash through the wall at the end and find your sister under the tree which sort of made me feel underwhelmed at how the ending played out and disappointed in how the game loops back around to the forest quickly after the factory area
-Non-intuitive Puzzles: Some puzzles require knowledge you can only gain AFTER you have died a few times in an area, which makes it extremely tricky to get the under 5 deaths achievement on the first playthrough without resorting to a walkthrough

NOTE: I got this game for free as part of the give-away on the Steam Store page

Limbo is a puzzle game set in a black-white coloured world which tends to get harder and darker the more you progress. The controls are basic, so you can get started right away without a big learning curve.

As I said, the puzzles you encounter get harder the further you are into the game, which is a good way to introduce the player into the type gameplay that Limbo offers and how the players can interact with the world and the environment.

More about the puzzles; They are quite unique and the sometimes disturbing or gruesome solutions for them are not what you'd expect. This in combination with the perfect matching atmospheric audio (Which are even a must to complete some puzzles. Dont turn them off!) can/will give you some moments of scare. But that only makes the game feel more alive.
