I love this expansion! Exploring the tombs is really fun, and I really love being able to take pictures of things and display them. Plus I am a sucker for achievements/collections, so being able to collect a bunch of different subjects is great.

Careful EA, this DLC has what some of us might call "gameplay". Wouldn't want you to stray too far from your comfort zone.

Ok serious review time
Pros:
-Like I said before, this Sims DLC actualy feels like it has some gamplay value (as compaired to other DLC packs that promised cool stuff but it was all done eaither off-screen or automatically). There isn't much in here that the player doesn't have some amount of control over.
-The tombs are actually challenging some of the time. The bigger the treasure and tomb size, the harder the puzzles are to solve it. I actually found myself looking up walkthroughs for some of them that had me stumped. Completing them actually feels like an achievement
-The worlds are large and have hidden secrets.
-The newly added clothes and furniture create even more immersion.
-Location music is AMAZING and can be played even when you're not at the location.
-The opening cinematics are beautiful and set the tone for the location
Cons:
-Remember what i said about challenging puzzles? Yeah the problem is there’s only about 2 or 3 per location that are actually challenging. The rest are pretty cut-and-dry. Bumping up the difficulty a little would have added to the overall exploring experience.
-The photography skill is impossible to level up in unless you have the personality trait, and even then it’s one of the hardest skills to get ahead in.
-I would have liked it if we could actually move to the locations. I know that would be hard seeing as the locations have no school, jobs, or emergency services. But I feel like they could have made work arounds for that.
-A bit laggay at times, but that’s to be expected in an expansion this big.
Overall, I would recommend this DLC to any Sim players looking for a bit more gameplay. It’s immersive, fun, challenging, and has good replay value. 7.5/10

This DLC is freaking AMAZING! There is so much to do! I have yet to visit France. Egypt and China are so beautiful! The tombs you explore are always full of surprises! I hope the mummies don't mind me taking their stuff lol.

I really have no idea why people dog on this expansion so much. This is the most fun I've had out of a Sims expansion! I really do enjoy the atmosphere of discovery and adventure that this expansion gives. The promise of loot at the end of the tomb, accomplishment of quests to extend your visa and stays at locations, learning native skills and songs; there's just so much to do! This is a must have for any Sims 3 player out there.

i loved this expansion. the idea that a sim could become a master explorer and explore china, egypt and france was pretty sweet. i also liked that each area had its own set of artifacts, recipies and special abilities to learn. i liked being able to travel to new places and doing the challenges.

The dungeon exploration system is cool. I love the collectable relics and but the worlds themselves just lack the entire vacation feeling, and the experience lacks the consistency of content that was prevalent the Sims 2 equivalent. Cultural differences are hardly visible at all. All three countries feel and function pretty much the same, except the fact that you can buy some different stuff, explore different buildings, or learn a couple of different songs. Gone are the variety of hotels, spas, local dance styles, quirky encounters, fun activities, etc. It all just lacks flavor. I also personally miss having a tropical island option for my vacations, though I suppose that's a matter of personal preference.

All in all, would not recommend as first priority if you're looking to buy DLC.
