I only have 15 hours.... but BOY IS THIS HYPE. I have a level 9 journalism carrer, a wife, soon to be children. An AMAZING house I spent an hour renovating completly and the list goes on and on so I'm gonna talk about one of my favourite features....

When you start the sims, everybody has the same town of people, but it changes. If you didn't know already, in this game sims age and even DIE. What happens if you're sim dies? you play as your son or daughter growing up. Then play as their sons or daughters and it goes on and on. The npc's also have children, die and live their lives.

If this helped influence your decision about getting this game, please give it a thumbs up! i DEFINITELY recomend this game

Ok my play time doesn't actually show how many hours I've sank into this game just how many I'v accumlated to buy extra content from steam on the cheap. First off your sims 3 codes you buy off Steam now works with EA origins. This is important if you previously own sims packs. Steam makes you buy another copy of the Sims 3 to buy the extra content. Not cool steam its livable. On the good note; during the steam mega sales you can pick up more content for about 4.99 - 9.99. I have all expansions all store content and am missing only one world and a handful of stuff packs.

In general I love this game. I've owned it since it came out. Purchased most of my content pre-steam and amazed how cheep you can get stuff for now. I've scored most of the store content by watching adds on EA and about all my content was purchased for free. Now that steam has its new controller I am slowly migrating my content onto steam.

This is the only sandbox you will ever play that lets you actually make your own video game in whatever style you want. You download the world creator tool and you have hours of interesting things you can do with your game. Program in story lines and challanges for your sims and you have a whole new game. You have the ability to generate maps and new worlds. You get mod content and the sky is the limit. Lets face facts the sims 3 is just wierd and its not for everyone. How many games do you know that allow you to have ninjas who work as a perfessional jockeys riding unicorns and only eat tofu cheesesteaks?

Now for some of the negative reviews I'm reading. I'm running a top of the line graphics card I play the game on highest levels. I do not have the new nvidia pascals. Only a 970. I have no issues at all. Most of the people who are griping do not realize that there internet cache actually plays a roll on how well the game runs when its in online mode. You donot have to use online mode unless your working on showtime achievements or your planning on buying something in game. All players need to regularly clean out internet explorer even if you don't use internet explorer to maintain a healthy game. Because it is how the game originally connect to EA. Most of the lagging etc comes from IE beeing the worst of all the browsers and no ability to change this in your code. Another issue is too many expansion and stuff packs on at one time. While I run all expansions and all my content most pcs are not capable of doing this. EA suggest limiting how many packs if you want quicker load times. I don't bother because I use a special mod called Overwatch that peserves the integrity of my game by optimizing the game in other ways that EA didn't think of. Mostly by removing lost sims stray horses and animals and cars that your sims careless forget to drive back home to there houses. This makes the who game run much smoother and keeps the game from becomming currupt do to user neglect/error. Mods make this game you can find nearly any type of mod you can imagine. I highly recommend anyone who has ever played minecraft or similar games to give this one a try.

Sims 3 is a competent life simulation. it's somewhat heavy on the cleaning, homework, bad smells and bad moods for my taste, but that can be modified through programmed in cheat codes, along with money, housing, etc.

the reason I do NOT recommend the game is because the game constantly pushes the player to buy stuff inside the game for MORE MONEY. CONSTANTLY. Any time you add a couch or flower pot to your little sims' house, five much nicer options are presented that you have to pay real money for. This is very irritating and completely unnecessary.
Also, the player must purchase DLC for BASIC simulation areas like weather, beach visits, careers, etc. The whole thing is a pretty annoying money grab.
It's completely annoying that the player spends anywhere from $20 to $60 on a game and the game constantly pesters the player for more money.
I own many games and DLC that never pester the player for more money. Sims 3 is VERY unusual in this regard.
If you buy this game, do NOT spend more money for clothes, furniture, houses, etc. there are plenty of sites that offer free downloads of stuff that is much better than what is sold inside the game. Also there are many mods that improve this game for free.

I am done supporting this greedy company.
Reasonable Price:
Sims 3 vanilla $5
Sims 3 with all DLC bundle $60

Actual Price:
Sims 3 Vanilla $20
Sims 3 all DLC roughly $400
wtf is this?

Delete Micro payment option or give players at least the option to unlock new stuff by completing challenges.

This is a classic act of the Canadian Devil (south park reverence)

The Sims 3:

Review changed from positive to negative since the game cannot recognise my newest graphics card (GTX 970). It's choppy as hell and the graphics are downgraded to the lowest possible, despite my high end PC.

If you have an older computer and are interested in this, go right ahead and read my analysis of the game.

Positives:

+ Purchase a house for your family or build and design your own with hundreds of customisation options. Buy pools, spas, outdoor living areas, decorative garden plants, televisions, exercise machines, kitchen appliances, cars....the list is huge!
+ Work as a master criminal, a journalist or even a detective. Go travelling to...Egypt, France and China (with DLC). This game is packed with plenty to do.
+ Many different skills for your sims to level up, from science to cooking. So you can have a very varied gameplay experience.
+ Several neighbourhoods to play in, each with a unique layout.
+ There's a large amount of playtime in the Sims 3 for players of all sorts. I managed to get about 100 hours out of it.

Negatives:

- While I acknowledge graphics aren't a major focus of Sims gameplay, it could definitely be improved. Aesthetically, this game is disappointing.
- Despite the vastness of Sims 3, it can become boring after awhile. Once you're earning a high wage, built a mansion filled with valuable items and had a family, there's really not much else to do. This game has a cycle of repetition, whereby you continue to do the same tasks over and over, just in different ways. Sure, the kids in your family grow up and you're able to control their lives, but it's like starting from scratch again, where's the sense of accomplishment in that? It's the balance between fun and repetitive content which Sims 3 suffers from.
- The game is quite expensive, even though it's now 5 years old (as of 02/03/2014). DLC is also pricey, so make sure you absolutely want this game before paying in full, or wait for a sale.

Overall Score: 7/10 for those with older systems
0/10 for those with state of the art PCs

The Sims 3 is a nice, relaxing game with many interesting features. For fans of the series, it's really worth checking it out. For those that are new to the game, I recommend grabbing this too, but just be aware of the many flaws.

Cannot recommend until there is a known fix for version 0.0.0.0 launcher error, which prevents further download of custom content and expansion registration bonus items.
