Extremely addictive. The overwhelmingly best life simulator game series there is to date, this is a solid addition to The Sims game franchise. The only annoying thing is all of the expansions, but as The Sims 4 just came out, maybe the prices will drop on some of those. If you can't afford The Sims 4 and don't know if going back is worth it, trust me it is. This game is very fun, very addictive, and is overall just a great, memorable game.

Sims 3, for all it's faults and troubles is probably the best Sims game to date.

The open world provides a sense of immersion not achieved by earlier games. This is a feature that was missing in previous games.

There are a wide variety of expansion packs to provide additional functionality for just about anyone.

You can pretty much play the game however you want, you can make your sim an upstanding citizen, a socialite, an excentric recluse, a crook or anything inbetween. You can have your sims befriend everyone and be known for being nice, use them to express your darkest desires to ruin all your neighbor's lives, or even ruin their own lives if you so chose.

That is not to say the game doesn't have it's problems. It is probably the buggiest game ever released by EA, and that includes Sim Copter and Streats of Sim City. It is using an archaic branch of Mono which makes the Mono releases chosen by Unity3D look new, and has a severely garbage collector that leaves unnecessary cruft everywhere and instead vacates other objects from memory as soon as you leave the lot they are on. It seems either the core programmers didn't know how to mark something as a cached asset, or just didn't bother. Despite the size of the game, there is no attempt to use either a disk heap, or a secondary virtual memory segment to store cached assets, and until recently it didn't even support over 2GB of game memory space.

Tech support is nearly non-existant, but fortunately the game has finally stopped being update to support expansion packs, which would commonly break the game completely for older expansion packs, so there are fewer issues.

To put it simply, the game itself I give a wonderfully positive rating as a near perfect game for it's category. It is everything a Sims game should be. However, the backend is flawed at best, and often downright broken, while tech support is downright non-existant. Frankly, I think EA could care less about technical support or keeping their older games functioning on newer technology, and I think recent reports of having the worst customer support in the video game industry are not only accurate, but an understatement.

Still, if you can put up with these faults, The Sims 3 is certainly worth your time and frustrations.

First off, this game is good. It's very good. You can do a lot of things in this game that can't really be done easily in real life, like electrocuting Taylor Swift or something. Do I recommend it?

Depends.

The base game is good, obviously, but what ♥♥♥♥es you and me off is Egoistic ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥s (EA)'s decision to release about more than 20 DLCs separately. Now this isn't exactly the worst thing, but the costs of each individual DLC is astronomical. $34.99 for an expansion pack, even if it is Into the Future (which is kind of cool), is just ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Whoever sets the costs have to be high, drunk, and mentally challenged at the same time. That is more than 3 times the price of Goat Simulator, for example. Also, most of the expansion packs cost $24.99, which is also "coincidentally" the same price for each Stuff pack. Yeah, they do bring a lot to the game, but wouldn't it be just nice for Maxis (or EA?) to put at least some of these features, such as Pets and Seasons, in the base game? Now I have to wait for the sales.

I would want to recommend the base game, but the problem is that the lack of features WILL make you want to buy the DLCs. It is really good marketing strategies, to be honest, but it is morally criminal.

to start off the sims 3 is just as you expected it's a people simulater dont worry its not boring its actully really fun to play you can get lost at hours at a time building house and creating community lots now im reviewing the base game with no dlc's included so i wont be talking about seasons or ambitions just the base game when you first start off you get to make your sim their is not much clothing or hair if you dont have any dlc's but thats fine because with the all new create-a-style option i can make my sims hair brown with blonde strickes so it does kinda feel like a new hair style that i selected and unlike the sims 2 the graphics are so much more better looking the sims look like real life people almost and the world is no longer foggy in the background speaking of that the sims 3 is now open world so instead of being stuck on one lot you can now go anywhere with no loading screens (except for the starting up loading screen when you first start playing) you can also build other stuff to like downstairs yes i know this was in the sims 3 but it was hard to do not no more in sims 3 since they give you a better option. do i think that the sims 3 is worth it yes it is so much fun i give this 5/5 stars

This is a great game. I love the sims and what I can do. But Their is just two things that really bug me....

- You have to get all these life points to unlock the good stuff. You only get one town if you haven't purchased other towns with Life points. And I paid $20 for this game EVERYTHING should be ulocked.

-The DLC is just as expensive as the regular sims 3.

But the detail in this game is amazing.

Would play more if there was a better deal than spending $400 on all the expansion packs. Game needs at least 3 of them to make it fun.

The Sims is a game where you simulate life, you get promotions in your work, make friends, workout. Every single thing you should be doing in real life instead of playing this game. You're pathetic. 7/10 Good Game.

Basically one of the best games you can get from EA's 2000s era, try finding anything else? Good luck

Forget about The Sims 4, stick with The Sims 3. It has everything you could think of and then some. My roommate died so I took her tombstone to the science facility and resurrected her. I botched it, and now her ghost haunts me. You can garden, swim in your pool or the ocean, fish to your hearts content, build all kinds of custom homes, there is something for everyone here.

My only complaint is that the add-ons (DLCs) are way over priced. Most of them are twenty bucks, and they are not worth that. Seasons is good, Amitions is good, Pets is OK, Supernatural is lame, but NONE of them are worth twenty bucks. Wait until they are on sale, and then load up on DLCs.

And for you Linux fans, The Sims 3 works well with Wine.

Highly addicting, but also easy to burn out on. I still end up coming back to it after I've had some time away, however. While I find the DLC prices offensive, the core experience is fun and light-hearted.

The Sims 3 is a very fun game.
It is a family making game where you control your Sims (Sims are the people) and get friends, Gf, wives, etc.
You have the option to build a house, are live in an already furnished house. I would say it's a bit overpriced, but if you have £25 leftover, you should get it.

GET IT NOOOOWWWW. It's fun.
If you get stuck, there are millions of YouTube vids to watch to understand the game.
Sims 4 is out, but it's BLOODY $50!!!!
