About This Game

Need for Speed Hot Pursuit launches you into a new open-world landscape behind the wheel of the world's fastest and most beautiful cars. From Criterion, the award-winning studio behind the Burnout series, Hot Pursuit will redefine racing games for a whole new generation.

You'll experience stunning speeds, takedowns, and getaways as you battle your friends in the most connected Need for Speed game ever. Through Need for Speed Autolog and its innovative approach to connected social competition, your Hot Pursuit experience will extend beyond the console onto the web, constantly moving your gameplay in new and unique directions.

Loaded with action, this game will challenge you to become Seacrest County's top cop or most wanted racer. For the first time ever in a Need for Speed game, you'll be able to play a full career on either side of the law. Whether you're a lead-foot speeder or a cop with a mean streak, make sure your aviators are spotless and your driving record is anything but.

Key Features

  • Career – For the first time in Need For Speed history play full careers as both cops and racers. Whether playing online with friends, taking on friends challenges or the single player career, players will earn bounty that levels them up and unlocks new cars, weapons and equipment.
  • Need For Speed™ Autolog – In Need for Speed Hot Pursuit, your friends drive your gameplay experience. Autolog is a system that links friends directly to each other’s games, enabling them to compare and share all their experiences, pictures and challenges. Autolog instinctively delivers challenges based on what your friends have been doing, creating a hugely dynamic, socially competitive experience.
  • Cars –In Hot Pursuit, the cars go from hot to hotter. Experience the thrill of driving the world’s most desirable high performance cars at incredible speeds. Feel the power of busting suspects in supercharged cop interceptors like the Lamborghini Reventon or outsmarting the law as a racer in high performance supercars like the Pagani Zonda Cinque.
  • Weapons and equipment – Take down suspects with a variety of cop weapons like spike strips and call in extra support including road blocks as the chase intensifies. Racers have a range of evasion equipment at their disposal to outsmart the cops including jammers that block cop communications and jam their weapons.
  • Seacrest County – Explore a world inspired by the California coastline with desert, forest, seaside and mountainous regions. The open world of Seacrest County helps deliver the most intense cop pursuit moments ever.

Hot Pursuit comes with great graphics, good looking race tracks and bad ♥♥♥ cars.

The game offers you two perspectives. You are either a racer or a cop.

As a racer you need to create chaos. You are rewarded for destroying cars, speeding and destroying the enviroment.

As a cop you need to catch the racers using your high tech equipment. It is possible to call out blockades and back-up which is cool since in most of those games you are the one getting ganged up on.It's nice to have help for a change.

Both the cop and the racer have similar game scenarios. As a racer you either race and try to get first with cops and other racers on your back or you try to get to a point in a limited amount of time.As a cop you need to catch all the racers or you need to get to a point in a limited amount of time, same thing as with racers.

Both have some kind of ''skill tree''.As you move on with the game you unlock new and better equipment for your cars.Spikes,EMPs and speed boosts..just to mention some. You also unlock cars along the way.The game has a fair amount of cars both for racers and cops.

I enjoyed the game but I found it really lacking that it didn't have a storyline to follow and it has no open-world at all.

It's a game with nice cars and sweet gadgets but nothing more.If you are only interested in racing, this is a great game to pick up.

After playing NFS:HP 2010, I realized this game still retains most of it's awesomeness from it's predecessor. The graphics are visually stunning for a 2010 game, with an open-world linear hybrid feeling. There is an endless variety of cars, ranging from the most fastest cop car, to the most expensive race car. The environment gives you a touch of the countryside, with familiar places from NFS: HP2. Equipment and cars can be unlocked through the progression of the game, rather than purchasing them or unlocking them. The extensive array of cars, environment, equipment, and even traffic gives amazing detail onto the game.

Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit is one of the best racing games you can get on steam. you can play as both cops and racers and both sides are a joy to play. It's sad to see that few people play online though. 8.5/10

Favourite game on Steam and the most played game. There are two storyline. The cop or the racer. If you like races and outrunning cops, then choose the racer path. If you like busting racers, then go for the cop path. You can always play both paths if you want to experience being a cop and a racer. Luckily, there is no penalties for going one path then changing paths. Highly recommend the game if you like racing games

I haven't played a lot of Need for Speed games before this one, but I can say that this is the best Need for Speed game I've ever played before. Really enjoyed it!

Maybe not a real racing game, since it has cops and stuff like that, but it's fun to see something a bit different from other racing games.

I would give this game 7/10

Hours of fun. Good graphics, decent sound track (needs more metal) and I enjoyed playing a cop and a racer. Heaps of fun racing mates online too.

I used to play this on Xbox 360 all day when I was a kid, only used the Crown Victoria whenever I could. Wonderful game on PC too. Very few Police oriented games out on the market though.

This is a good racing game...
It adds some nice features that aren't in other racing games; my favourite is the choice of playing as the police!

This is my favourite Need for Speed game!

For the first time the NFS series has hit a new low. No shifting. How are you jam it around turns? This is probably at best a game for user's who are too young to drive & don't understand that gear shifting is a major strategy in racing. It is more concerned with the social club aspect than a legitimate game. I am truly sorry I bought this.

It's a great simulation. That is, it has a great engine which feels good to interact with. The driving simulation also clearly and immediately rewards players who anticipate the actions of the other drivers as well as anticipating the effectiveness of their own vehicle within the environment. However, I can't possibly recommend this game to anyone. Nobody asked for this. It's a really cool concept but NFS was not the franchise to be taking on such an endeavour. The cops vs. racers factions systems actually detract from both gameplay modes equally. There is way too much going on, and despite the incredible presentation of different gameplay concepts through means which most often don't feel artificial and forced, no amount of player comprehension of Hot Pursuit's gameplay mechanics will make the game experience less chaotic. It's photo realistic Mario Kart. Each gameplay scenario is all complexity and no depth, something which must have been difficult to achieve for a driving simulation.

On a scale from rent to own I would rate this game as neither. This game could be easily passed up and you would not have missed anything. At all. Like even a little. I think that all I learned from it is how not to make Mario Kart.

I wouldn't spend more than 5$ on this game, and thankfully I didn't. NFS Hot Pursuit is actually kind of entertaining for a short period, especially due to the amount of polish that this game has and the initial novelty of the game mechanics. I'm pretty sure that there is a saying about polishing a turd though. At least dumb fun is still fun.
