“A monster of a sequel.”
90/100 – Game Informer

About This Game

In Dead Space™ 2, you join Isaac Clarke, the Systems Engineer from Dead Space, as he wakes up three years after the horrific events on the USG Ishimura. The Ishimura was a Planetcracker-class starship besieged by grotesque reanimations of its dead crew, known as “Necromorphs.”

After unearthing a strange artifact known as the Marker, Isaac finds himself on the Sprawl, a giant space station in orbit around Saturn. Unable to remember how he got here and plagued with demented visions of his dead girlfriend Nicole, he must survive another nightmarish outbreak of Necromorphs as he fights his way towards an answer he hopes will end all the chaos.

Key Features:

  • Tear through space with full 360 degree movement.
  • Wield a set of devastating tools to bring the terror to space. Impale Necromorphs into the walls with the Javelin, use improved telekinesis to turn limbs into deadly weapons, plant powerful dismembering trip mines, or create a hull-breach to suck a group of monsters out into space.
  • Fire up Isaac’s suit boosters to rocket around in zero gravity like never before. Explore the depths of the Sprawl and encounter new weightless combat and physics-based puzzles with full 360⁰ movement.

Dead Space 1 and Dead Space 2 are some of the best games I've played.

If horror shooters are something you enjoy, then pick the both of them up! They really are as good as people say.

It has a great story, decent scares, well executed gameplay, and a general feeling of horror -- everything you could ever want out of a 3rd person shooter.

Don't play 3 though. In my opinion it's absolutely terrible in comparison to the first two.

What I liked:
  • Bringing back the Dead Space with more weapons( love the javelin and contact weapon, OMG so good)
  • More suit variety
  • New enemies that offer variety, with returning ones as well
  • No terrible PC port like the first game
  • It's the most similar to the first game, but way better in every single respect( unlike the 3rd game)
What You Need to Know:
  • No issues like the first one, controller works out the gate, and no 30 fps lock
  • I beat the game quicker than most people on their first time would( Already played the game on console)
  • No one plays the multiplayer, so don't get it for that. Plus who really gets this game for the online feature
  • On first launch, it wants to login with your EA account. I did, but don't know what singleplayer things you would miss out on if you don't use it. Think it's for the online feature
  • Does have the hardcore difficulty which is a really nice challenge for the "hardcore" fans, limited save counts :O

Compared to the original:
  • More weapons and new special effects when upgraded enough
  • Zero G is way more awesome now, you can move in 3D space, bringin in new challenges and fun
  • Issac does talk, so with that is more cutscenes, but overall it didn't bother me too much
  • No map, instead the stations are found the same way as the objective
  • Final Boss fight was not as cool as or hard as the first game
  • You can respec your power nodes for whatever reason now
My Score:
A+

Price:$5
Completed in:8 hours( This is alot faster than new players would get)

I played this game immediately after finishing the first, and was almost entirely disappointed with it.

Dead Space 2 takes the essentials of Dead Space 1, and then scraps everything about the first that made it immersive by giving the main character a voice. Issac can somehow make sassy remarks and sharp quips for comic relief despite being an absolute mess of a human that talks to himself and frequently yells at his long dead girlfriend. By sacrificing Isaac's anonymity, the game is able to produce story arcs where he can bond with whoever has his frequency, which pulls entirely away from the "trying to survive and not think about all the things I'm killing" vibe and brings it closer to the "I guess I'll help this crazy guy get get off this station." By giving Isaac a voice, the game becomes less of a game and more of an interactive movie: You are not Isaac, you are just in charge of his fate.

On gameplay, the puzzles are a little more interesting, and the minigames are reduced down to just one hacking-thing, which is a step up from the original. Combat feels almost identical to Dead Space 1, with one major exception: Kill Rooms. You will frequently find rooms in the game where you just back into a corner and kill 15 or so enemies as they file in, which is both tedious and frustrating. Enemies go from being a obstacles (DS1) to being switches you have to flip (dismember) so that the next room will open up so that you can do it all over again. The fighting can only be considered difficult if you find that managing your resources is also hard; as long as you have ammo, you're fine. I played this game on survivalist difficulty, and would definetly recommend that it should not be played so, as all it seemed to do was make me sell all my extra health packs for 3 clips of ammo to blow out at the next 15 dudes due to there being almost no ammo anywhere. Healing is never really an issue in the game, as more often than not when you are taking damage you are just going to die anyway.

As a side note, the game makes a whole bunch of side-grade weapons available to you in the shop for free, which is silly as the actual weapons are expensive and require schematics to be purchased. I only used side-grades if I had already purchased the standard copy, but there is nothing stopping you from grabbing high-teir stuff at the first shop.

I played this game with a controller, as all user interface and minigames are designed to be done using joysticks, not a mouse.

Relative to Dead Space 1, this is not a great game.
Ignoring Dead Space 1, this game is not bad, and probably worth playing if you enjoy some sci-fi horror in your linear plot driven shooters.

Expect about 12 hours of gameplay, with some replayability in newgame+ mode.

Awesome game, had the first one on ps3 and never got around to playing the 2nd and 3rd one. Hopefully can find 3rd on pc as well.
If you have not played the first one, you can still play this one because they explain everything to you anyway. I advise you get the first one though. Good scary games, with lots of action to boot.

It's like Dead Space 1 but controls are slightly different, things seem to be a tad more scarier and the story is better. Plus the creatures are actually giving me a hard time! Fun game, more to explore and items aren't in plain sight so you gotta go hunting for them, keeping a slow pace which I really like.

P.S I know there was 2009 bug with the save stations but everyone, including me, were just being really dumb. You got to put your weapon down in order to get the save station working. Took me about an hour or two into the game to realize this.

While it is a very linear game and honestly not as good as the first one, it is still very good and worth purchasing if you enjoyed the first Dead Space.
