Take command of your army and expand your reign in Medieval II - the fourth installment of the award-winning Total War series of strategy games. Direct massive battles featuring up to 10,000 bloodthirsty troops on epic 3D battlefields, while presiding over some of the greatest Medieval nations of the Western and Middle Eastern world. Spanning the most turbulent era in Western history, your quest for territory and power takes you through Europe, Africa, and the Middle East, and even onto the shores of the New World.
You'll manage your empire with an iron fist, handling everything from building and improving cities to recruiting and training armies. Rewrite history and conquer the world. This is Total War!
  • Bigger and better real-time battles. Improved combat choreography, larger armies, quicker pace, and spectacular finishing moves make this the most visceral and exciting Total War ever.
  • New epic campaign. The ambitious single player campaign will span three continents and let players sail across to the Americas to confront the Aztecs on their home soil.
  • Greater accessibility. An enhanced user interface and optional shorter campaigns make the Total War experience faster and easier to enjoy than ever before.
  • Over 40 new features. An advanced terrain system, enhanced weather effects, and more will help you divide and conquer.
  • Intense Multiplayer Battles. Wage war against other players in 8-way multiplayer games across the Internet and LAN.

NOTE: Because the Kingdoms expansion uses core game elements from the Medieval II: Total War game, it is required that you use the same method for purchasing Kingdoms as you did in purchasing Medieval II: Total War. If you purchase Medieval II: Total War from Steam, then please use Steam to purchase Kingdoms.

Yet another amazing addition to the franchise! What Rome: Total War does, Medieval 2: Total War does better. The first thing I would like to talk about are the graphics. They have tremendously been enhanced from Rome: Total War, and you don't need much of an upgrade if at all to play this game! Shining plate, and mail armor. A great amount of new units, and weapons. Even improved animations! Unlike Rome: Total War, many of the combat animations of the units have been synced with the enemies attacks and deaths as well. No longer is it a slash at the air and instantly killing the enemy, now it's a fluid stab to the ground that makes you feel like they are actually fighting. One of the features I found quite neat are the types of armor your unit has for their armor rating. Now your unit gets the look of their armor rating! If you have bronze, it is usually padded armor, silver is half-plate (Or mail, depending in unit type), and Gold is full plate (If your unit can be upgraded to gold)! Their weapons however, do not change, or at least I have not seen a difference. Combat is also quite different than Rome: total war. Your units take a second to actually respond to a command which makes more sense to me, and it is also much slower. The campaign map is nearly the same as Rome: Total War except it has some minor changes. Overall, if you like strategy games this is a must have in your library.

Too long didn't read: Feature improvements, better animations, slower combat, new types of armor. Good game, buy.

Medieval II:Total War used to be one of the single best Medieval warfare games that has ever been made, but now thanks to the "patch" they made for it here on steam recently, it is now bugged to hell.

Much of the Sound within the game is either bugged or gone entirely, and many of the mods that were made for this game, that took alot of work and effort to create, have now been made useless and broken.

If you have the game in disk form, I suggest that you use that if you still wish to enjoy the game as it was before this mess, because CA has caused this game to only be fit for the digial trashbin.

Never trust CA again, Ladies and Gentlemen, apprantly all they can do anymore is create mediorce games like Rome II and break the older games they made that were still great. like Medieval II.

And above all else, KEEP YOUR DISKS! Because when insane stuff like this happens, you can always fall back to the disks and keep your fun.

This game is a must buy for a strategy gamer, the best Total War game to date imo. Ofcourse the game is quite old now, but it still looks quite good. It's pretty much a Rome Total War (award winning game), with better graphics and more features.
