About This Game

Take command of your army and expand your reign in Medieval II - the fourth installment of the award-winning Total War series of strategy games. Direct massive battles featuring up to 10,000 bloodthirsty troops on epic 3D battlefields, while presiding over some of the greatest Medieval nations of the Western and Middle Eastern world. Spanning the most turbulent era in Western history, your quest for territory and power takes you through Europe, Africa, and the Middle East, and even onto the shores of the New World.
You'll manage your empire with an iron fist, handling everything from building and improving cities to recruiting and training armies. Wield diplomacy to manipulate allies and enemies, outsmart the dreaded Inquisition, and influence the Pope. Lead the fight in the Crusades and bring victory to Islam or Christianity in the Holy War. Rewrite history and conquer the world. This is Total War!
  • Bigger and better real-time battles. Improved combat choreography, larger armies, quicker pace, and spectacular finishing moves make this the most visceral and exciting Total War ever.
  • New epic campaign. The ambitious single player campaign will span three continents and let players sail across to the Americas to confront the Aztecs on their home soil.
  • Greater accessibility. An enhanced user interface and optional shorter campaigns make the Total War experience faster and easier to enjoy than ever before.
  • Over 40 new features. An advanced terrain system, enhanced weather effects, and more will help you divide and conquer.
  • Intense Multiplayer Battles. Wage war against other players in 8-way multiplayer games across the Internet and LAN.

Crusade/Jihad simulator. It might be old but it's still fun as heck to play. The modern warscape total war games lost some of the magic that made total war great. Definitely recommended.

This game here folks, is a masterpiece from God himself, everything is so simple and pure, compared to the new ones (including Total War: Warhammer) this is what RTS was always meant to be, keeping your generals to govern major cities and sending simple armies with only a captain to prove himself to his king, to be able to dominate the battlefield. you want all the buildings you can possibly suck out of the region, go for it, super military with super money making and population upkeep buildings, ♥♥♥♥ing go nuts on your enemies without consequence, the AI never fight your castles, they just stand there and hope they arn't first to get destroyed (destroy them all, conquer all land to be your own) factions based on loreful types of units, nothing is complex in this game at all. simply build all you can, and watch as the world crumbles before you.

10/10 would fight entire Total War staff to bring this system back to RTS

Not as good as Total War: Rome, but still a very good strategy game. Plenty of choices, difficult and a pleasure to play.

This is definitely a game I would recomend .
I have played all the Total War games since there release , like the original Shogun and rome etc. But medieval 2 is my favourite. I have completed the grand campaign countless times and still thoroughly enjoy it. 11 years on and still top of my list. I buy new games and can be fed up with it just 5 minutes in. Over that 11years i have purchased 3 copies of med2 as no Steam back then and discs etc got scratched . But even back then at full price was fantastic value for money for the pure gaming time you had, the price now is ridiculous for the amount you get back.

Our last king restored Hungary to it's rightful place in the Christian church. We must not let it fall!
My western border with The Holy Roman Empire is secured and christianty is almost fully restored, we must restore our eastern front! Many of our greatest builders were sent to build churches, chapels and Abbeys, we trained our greatest priests to become bishops and cleanse our eastern territory from the heretical thought. Our eastern border wasn't protected though, so we had to make alliances, Georgia came to us in request to trade, it was a perfect moment to make a diplomatic action and propose an alliance, gladly they accepted. We both had a common enemy of course, the heretics who call them selves "Byzantines".

They are nothing but a dying empire, after we aided Georgia in their wars and the world was shown the true strengh of Mother Hungary, the Russian and Polish embassies embraced our relations and proposed an alliance. Of course we agreed, now that we have Georgia in the east, Kievan Rus' in the north east and Poland in the north, we can direct our forces to the west!

The Holy Roman Empire is in constant war with our polish allies, but my advisor said that it's best to build up our economy. So we did, in a matter of years Hungary became the richest country in Europe and maybe in the whole world, soon we started buying cities from Poland and Kievan Rus', our borders grew and my kingdom strenghened. Our Polish friends were also getting stronger and our relations were better than ever. But Poland was too concerned with wars than with their own faith! The church has excomunicated them, and I had to declare war on my closest friend. I hasitated but I shudder to think that I could ever betray them...

The church was unpleased with my actions, but I can't betray my own friend, I still think there is hope for him, I just need to meet him once more, have a drink and discuss his issues with the church. But alas I was too late, he has fallen in battle trying to defend his lands, his entire city butchered, women and children.
And now I have to pay for my actions, I have been excomunicated. I am writing now as my whole kingdom crumbles to dust, what will happen to my subjects? Will they meet the same fate?

This is one of my favorite games ever.after 10 years this game isn't in its prime anymore , their is around 100-1000 people online per day which is sufficient. The reason people love this game is because of its simplicity and ease to master. I have put about 1500 hours. The1300 was before I has steam and was basicly just campaign this shows to the point of how good it

This is probably one of the BEST RTS games out there. It's definitely my favorite Total War game. It is old, but the community is still thriving, and I've spent so many hours on this game just screwing around. Definitely a buy, and if you get into it Medieval II: Kingdoms is an amazing expansion pack.

The two perfect works of Creative Assembly = Rome and Medieval total war.

Probably medieval total war has the most perfect tempo i have seen in turn based strategy games. The battle scenes, the horsemen, the catapults, the merchant and diplomat actions. It's just awesome.

-The only con of this game is diplomacy is kind of too agressive. You might get betrayed by 5 nations in one turn The Pope would'nt even care. But oh?! HOW DARE YOU ATACKING THE HOLY EMPIRE AS THEY ARE PILLAGING YOUR LANDS! this kind of diplomacy i'm talking about. Execpt that. The game is perfect.
