How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Depends on the feedback from the community, but here are the things we have in mind:

* Multiplayer
* Make as many elements as possible on the boat interactive
* More locations to sail in
* Better AI
* Implementation of racing rules
* Changing weather”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Sailing is working. Very basic controllers support.

Very naive implementation of AI. No multiplayer. No (real) racing rules.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We plan to increase the price as the game becomes more polished.”

“We will be looking for your input on forum, reddit and twitter.

We've just shipped an update to our sailing game :-)



Change log
  • New starting area - your own relaxing sailing hut
  • New islands system - lots to discover
  • Completely reworked our sound system - featuring spatial sound and sounds we had recorded specifically for VR Regatta
  • Ability to adjust sitting height
  • New compass - on a sailing dinghy showing you directions
  • Completely rewritten underlying engine - this will make adding new races and boats easier in the future

“My kids are incredibly interested in the whole sailing thing so I put the Vive on my 8 yr old and loaded up VR Regatta to teach her some of the basics (tiller use, mainsail adjustment, tacking, sail luffing). We went out on the water this morning and she was able to immediately recognize when my sail was luffing because of the distinctive sound it made. She also got the hang of the tiller pretty quickly.”
