1.0b patch notes

Thank you for sailing with us!

We are very grateful for positive reviews, youtube videos and general positive vibe on social media after 1.0 release - it means a lot to us!

We’re super excited to see our VR Regatta community sailing together in multiplayer. Great to see so many new Petty Officers! Who is excited for future multiplayer races? :-)

We’ve just pushed a small updates improving some of the things in the game.

  • Easy Race - voice over tips on how to sail better
  • ( Oculus ) Snap-turn works in the boat
  • “-arcade” mode command line argument added

We are currently working on 1.1 patch that will improve tutorials and sailing instructions, so that VR Regatta is even better for non-sailors. Please make sure to let us know if you have ideas for improvements or if you notice any bugs.

PS. Videos show exclusive Petty Officers content in VR Regatta: Windy Islands and Opti sailboat.

Get out onto the water today with VR Regatta, full version out now! 🍾⛵🎆

Great news, virtual sailing fans!

After more than a year in early access, VR Regatta: The Sailing Game officially launches today. Get that champagne bottle ready to smash on the bow* because this baby is seaworthy!

We’ve had a great time consulting with our faithful early adopters, implementing their feedback and adding in new features. The official version 1.0 release that has launched on Steam today had a bunch of cool new features. These include a new boat, a cute-and-simple Opti that brings the total in-game boats to three, and a whole new area to explore, the scorching hot equatorial region The Windy Islands.

If you’ve already bought VR Regatta then all of this is already yours—just update your game to the latest version and you’ll be good to go. If you’ve been waiting for the official release before getting on board, then we have some excellent news: during the launch week, we’ll be offering a 15% discount! Instead of US$14.99, you can grab the game for just US$12.74.

As always, we are endlessly grateful to everyone who has supported us by buying during early access, reporting bugs, signing up to this mailing list, and helping to spread the word. We’re so proud of this game, and we’re looking forward to making it even better in the future.

Cheers from the team at MarineVerse!

* Please don’t actually smash a bottle of champagne on your computer or VR headset. You’ll void your warranty and make everything very sticky.

“My kids are incredibly interested in the whole sailing thing so I put the Vive on my 8 yr old and loaded up VR Regatta to teach her some of the basics (tiller use, mainsail adjustment, tacking, sail luffing). We went out on the water this morning and she was able to immediately recognize when my sail was luffing because of the distinctive sound it made. She also got the hang of the tiller pretty quickly.”

MarineVerse is an international team of creatives and advocates for sailing and emergent technology. Our mission is to inspire, train and connect sailors, and share the feeling of this amazing sport with a wide global audience.

Through our debut project VR Regatta - The Sailing Game, we bring entertainment and education together through virtual reality (VR). We create experiences to enable more people to sail through the creation of games, training experiences and more.

"I believe virtual reality can greatly enhance sailing training, be a great way for all ‘landlocked’ sailors to stay connected to their hobby and introduce more people to sailing,"
Greg Dziemidowicz, Co-Founder of MarineVerse

"What excites me about VR Regatta is how it can be used in an educational setting. For those who have never been sailing before, using VR Regatta allows them to learn the basics and put them into practice without introducing any potentially dangerous elements. This approach will give them confidence to take the next step in their sailing, whether it’s as a recreational or competitive sailor."
Stu Gilfillen, Director of Education, US Sailing

"VR Regatta is an exciting new development for the sport of sailing. We have utilised this technology as part of our Discover Sailing offerings at a number of events including the Australian Grand Prix, The Volvo stopover and Club opening and Discover Sailing Days. It has proven to be a successful platform to introduce new people to the sport of sailing in conjunction with real life on water experiences,"
Gavin Wall, Manager at Australian Sailing
