The end of the year and the Max Discount policy

Hello everyone!

Good news: 2016 is (almost) over!

As usual, at the end of the year Steam goes crazy on big sales and discounts, so I wanted to take this chance to explain how I will approach discount seasons from now on.

I feel that on Steam there are a lot of niche/experimental games that (because of their very nature) struggle in terms of sales. They usually start at very reasonable prices but end up destroying their perceived value by embracing extremely high discount rates (60-80% OFF) for the sake of making more sales.

While I understand why some devs would do this, I am personally not a fan of this approach. To me, the value of something I create has a higher importance than the profit I make out of it. This is enforced by the fact that - in the case of Memoir En Code: Reissue - the full retail price is only 4.99$. That's the price of one single coffee at Starbucks.

Max Discount policy

I have decided to establish a MAX DISCOUNT policy set to 20% OFF for Memoir En Code: Reissue. This means that the game will never be sold on store-front for less than 3.99$ (the current sale until the end of the holiday sales). This excludes the possibility of joining game bundles in the future (even though I don't really see that happening anytime soon).

3.99$ (20% OFF) is the lowest price you will ever buy Memoir En Code: Reissue for.

If you already bought and played the game, thank you so much for your support. If you bought the game but didn't play it yet...well, I'm sure you can find an hour of your time during the holidays! If you know anyone who might like the game, consider gifting them a copy, or just sharing the game page on your social media accounts.

Finally, if you didn't buy the game yet, this is your best chance :)

Thanks for your support throughout the year!

Alex

About This Game

Memoir En Code: Reissue is an autobiographical game album. Designed to be experienced similarly to a music album, this short experimental game explores different bits of the author's life.

Divided into different interactive tracks, the game leads the player through the exploration of very personal moments, from the struggle of keeping together a long-distance relationship to the exploration of childhood memories.

Memoir En Code: Reissue was designed, developed and produced by only one person in the attempt to explore autobiography in games.

Features

  • 9 interactive tracks with unique gameplay and mood
  • Sad moments and happy moments
  • All new graphics, sounds and user interface
  • 9 keys to obtain
  • 1 message
  • Developer commentary

Recommendations

  • Play multiple times to fully experience the game. ~40 minutes for a first playthrough, to be extended in order to reach the game's ending.
  • Use headphones for a better experience.

F.A.Q.

How does Reissue differ from the original Memoir En Code released in 2015?
The game features all new graphics, interface, and parts of it have been re-designed. Reissue also includes a new final track to give closure to the game, plus the dev commentary. Take it as a sort of HD Remaster Extended Director's Cut edition.

Should I buy this game?
If you like experimental games, yes.
If you don't like experimental games, maybe.
If you give more value to content than length, yes.
If you give more value to length than content, no.

Can I put a Let's Play video on YouTube?
Yes BUT, considering that the game is fairly short, I'd appreciate if you could at least avoid recording the new (last) track called Lei Disse as well as the solution of Memoir De Code.
