Worst than first Chrome

+ bigger inventory
+ more missions with vehicles

- no cutscenes.. just text briefing before mission
- more linear
- same noob AI than first game, but now you have team.. (when your dumb teammate die game is over)
- cannot choose your equipment before mission anymore
- game is short

4/10, go play Chrome

This game is a pretty nice follow-up to chrome

the good:
-great gunplay and powers
-bullet time
-very good graphics for its time that still look good today
-challenging

the bad:

-you need to manually save a lot
-still kind of unbalanced at times
-big pacing issues, especially at the tutorial level, which lasts long but is quickly forgotten.

Most of all, this and chrome both look great once the widescreen patch is applied and can easily downsample from 4k. My biggest problem? Dying so much that I have to save. It's a very hard game, but still has the charm and campiness of the rest of the european shooters, like Chaser, Ubersoldier, etc.

Ran into an open cupboard and died.

10/10 - Would run into one again.

Review:

Although I only have about an hour on this game so far, I like it. It is a good typical old-skool FPS which has action, stratagy and stealth. For it's date the aniamations are amazing and they have included rag doll physics. You can drive vehicles which have multiple slots, Eg. Gunner/Passenger, driver.

I am on a Windows 8 and have not had any problems so it should run on W7, WV too.

Pros:

-Great Animation (For it's time)
-Good Enviroments
-AI that actually works!
-Cheap (Especially during sale)
-Resonable selection of weapons (Which you can also loot off enimies)
-Vehicles

Cons:

-No full resolution

If you don't mind the old graphics, you will find fun in this game. Its elements are cool and i was suprised that such old game ( originaly released in 2005) has so much features. Remember by that time we were still playing WW2/WW1 games. I like the style of the game and its features such as various mechs, "cars" ( which remind me alot of Borderlands' buggy). Atmosphere is good, game is good. Get it, have some fun.

★★★★☆

If you enjoy FPS's, and don't mind the dated graphics? This is an old school shooter that's well worth a play-through. You're able to use various weapons, drive various vehicles, and operate different sized mechs with rockets and machine guns. Once you learn the controls and menus it's actually a really fun game for the money. You don't have to have played the first game "Chrome", but it is also a fun, often overlooked game. The music's good, the graphics are also good for the time, the voice acting is alright, and the story is decent also. The sniper parts in the game are good, but the ability to operate the mechs is what I wish they had done more of. I actually saw a couple of dedicated servers running multiplayer with around 10 people playing. I saw a patch to update the graphics to HD online, but I didn't look further to do that since I was almost finished with the single player campaign. If you can snag this for under $3.00? I have games that can't even compete with quality, and just plain fun that I've spent more on. Get it. I really don't believe you will be disappointed. And it never, ever, crashed even once on me. I'm running a Win 7 64bit rig. If you do have trouble getting this to run on yours? Check my solution on how I got mine to run. Very easy fix! Boy I wish they still made games that keep you glued to it like this one. You will invest time in it quickly and not even realize how much has passed.

A shooter that came out in 2005. A standalone expansion to an apparently acclaimed game. Graphics have come a long way from then. Gameplay is archaic, and map flow doesn't stand up like Deus Ex does. It is one of those games where you get a game over for accidentally shooting your ally. I think I am too spoiled by modern gaming to go back to games like this. It has implants and an inventory similar to Deus Ex, but the characters are not as interesting and I got stuck before finishing the game.

Throwing grenades in these old games is so awkward.

Nowhere near as interesting as Chrome, but it's still fun to shoot guys with scifi guns. That's about all you do though.

This game is just awesome I had so much fun laughing at the monstrosity which is this game. Now before I go any further this game is a hell of a lot better than chrome the gunplay feels a lot better and it actually looks quite nice considering. Now to rip the hell out of it, I think this game was hilarious in more ways than one for example the voice acting was awful but it was so funny I did not mind too much the AI basically kills you from halfway across the map with an SMG but again I think the devs were trying to make a good game and playing this after playing crysis just shows me how far we have come in game design like this felt like low rent crysis but it was so endearing I could not stay mad at it so I resorted to laughter in conclusion buy it if its on sale you will not be dissapointed.

Great game, much better than the first one, however there's still issues with FPS, Steam really needs to fix this for those who have newer PCs.

Chrome SpecForce is the surprising follow up to Chrome, surprising in the sense that nobody really expected a game that mediocre would get a sequel. Yet here we are, ready to take control of Bolt Logan once again against the evil corporations of the future.

Right off the bat the disappointment starts to set in, while Chrome was not much of a game one thing it did have going for it was the beautiful lush outdoor scenery that made an otherwise dull experience a little enjoyable at times. SpecForce on the other hand looks dated in just about every way imaginable. Everything from the character models to the 2D inventory icons looks like they belong in a different age.

In terms of gameplay SpecForce is your average shooter. You run around with your gun of choice killing bad guys with little variety. An occasional vehicle or turret segment breaks up the monotony a little but the experience still feels bland all around. The weapons feel weak and act weak as well, enemies often take half a magazine to bring down while your own character dies in only a few shots. The enemy Ai is utterly static as well with hostile guards refusing to move regardless of the situation and shooting at you the second you step around a corner with pinpoint accuracy. This lack of AI in the enemy NPCs might have been a deliberate choice however as the AI for your NPC squadmates leaves much to be desired when they act suicidally half the time and gets stuck on terrain features the other half.

In terms of sound is where SpecForce does gain some points however, not because of the mediocre soundtrack, or the lackluster weapon sounds, or even the repeating ambiance. No, it is your character's voice that will bring a smile to your face because for all the wrongs that the developers did with this game they did one thing right, they hired Jon St. John to voice the main character, and that man can bring a little life into even as horribly written a character as Bolt Logan.

All in all Chrome SpecForce manages tries to accomplish exactly what the original did, a mediocre shooter with some Deus Ex elements thrown in for good measure. However it tries to do so without the few qualities of the original Chrome and without those it's simply not worth a second look.

Polished, fixed version of Chrome - it's a prequel, actually. Lots of assets are either reskins or direct ports, but it's pretty fun. At least there're no stealth missions here. TIP: when doing anything with allied bots, do NOT stay in front of them. Or besides them, for that matter.

An Obscure Polish Fps, really fun to play and suprisingly detailed. Plenty of guns, inventory managment and enviornment interaction. Plus its pretty cheap. As an old game it still looks good. If you liked the original Red Faction you will like this.

More of the same crap. Chrome was absolutely horrible, but this tries at least to make amends... The movement is the same ice-glidy CRAP feel, but the gunplay somehow feels better. It's still utter ♥♥♥♥♥, don't get me wrong, but somehow less utter ♥♥♥♥♥ than Chrome's was.. The AI has the same Aimbot feel, picking you off from 10 km away with an SMG.. and I somehow managed to get myself killed by just standing in front of my teammate and getting shot 10 times by his sniper, so yeah, the same "smart" AI, dumb as a ♥♥♥♥ing brick *FACEPALM*. I got this in a bundle with the first Chrome for 1.5 euro... While on the last one I said you were better off throwing those 70 cents at birds, one by one, would be more fun, with this one I'm feeling extremely indulgent and say it's just barely worth 70 cents... Might be fun for at least 5 minutes, while you tweak the settings...

If you can look past the graphics and the fact that it's an FPS I think you'll see the charm in the game, from what I've played the storyline is pretty good (old shooter, the story generally had to have SOME hook). Nothing special, but it's a good and cheap experience that's likely to pay off.
