Decent storyline, good gameplay, ok characters, cool locations, semi-open world (*1), ok soundtrack, good combat system, 3 or more difficulties to choose from. "Its like and early Crysis with slightly less features"

Bad touches: i had a couple problems with display resolution which were bad enough to render me unable to play the game, multiplayer is dead -- *1: semi-open world because most of the time you are following a partner

Game would run on a broken calculator just fine.

7/10 overall, "would waste hours organizing my inventory again"

Its pretty interesting how the prequel is even MORE intense than the original. Not to mention its more fun than the original as well. The original Chrome game is still a challenge though nonetheless. This is less difficult than the original, but has some changes that allows us to get through easier, less frustration when playing on the highest difficulty.

Here are some changes i noticed while playing.

Crosshair is smaller, easier to shoot from far distance.

The abilities are less and no longer rechargable, you have to find an item that recharges your blue meter. Instead of worrying about it raising it up, you have to worry not to lower it (as in waste it), but you dont lose damage if you waste it.

Some abilities made a return, and there are some new ones.

The eye ability is no longer in this game, instead it'll happen when you aim down sights on non scope guns, easier for you to kill from long range making the fight fair.

If you played the original and worried about the changes, dont worry. Its not as bad as you think as i completed it much quicker than the original.

Keep in mind, this game is a prequel. Not a sequel, you play as the same character as well, which is Logan (Pointer returns as well).

Buy it, it'll be worth your time playing this. If you played Chrome, you'll enjoy this.

As a "prequel" follow up to the first Chrome, Chrome - Specforce holds up surprisingly well. Many of the annoying glitches I had with the first game were non-existant with this one, in addition to simply feeling much better mechanically.

It may not have as much variety in the campaign as the first game, or as good a story, but it has better controls and it does what I consider the core of the game better: shooting. It is also a little more forgiving in terms of difficulty than the original is.

Definitely worth a grab on sale.

If you enjoy FPS's, and don't mind the dated graphics? This is an old school shooter that's well worth a play-through. You're able to use various weapons, drive various vehicles, and operate different sized mechs with rockets and machine guns. Once you learn the controls and menus it's actually a really fun game for the money. You don't have to have played the first game "Chrome", but it is also a fun, often overlooked game. The music's good, the graphics are also good for the time, the voice acting is alright, and the story is decent also. The sniper parts in the game are good, but the ability to operate the mechs is what I wish they had done more of. I actually saw a couple of dedicated servers running multiplayer with around 10 people playing. I saw a patch to update the graphics to HD online, but I didn't look further to do that since I was almost finished with the single player campaign. If you can snag this for under $3.00? I have games that can't even compete with quality, and just plain fun that I've spent more on. Get it. I really don't believe you will be disappointed. And it never, ever, crashed even once on me. I'm running a Win 7 64bit rig. If you do have trouble getting this to run on yours? Check my solution on how I got mine to run. Very easy fix! Boy I wish they still made games that keep you glued to it like this one. You will invest time in it quickly and not even realize how much has passed.

A shooter that came out in 2005. A standalone expansion to an apparently acclaimed game. Graphics have come a long way from then. Gameplay is archaic, and map flow doesn't stand up like Deus Ex does. It is one of those games where you get a game over for accidentally shooting your ally. I think I am too spoiled by modern gaming to go back to games like this. It has implants and an inventory similar to Deus Ex, but the characters are not as interesting and I got stuck before finishing the game.

Throwing grenades in these old games is so awkward.
