Good storyline, slightly complex gameplay, decent characters, awesome locations, open world, ok soundtrack, good combat system, 5 difficulties to choose from.

Bad touches: i had a couple problems with display resolution which were bad enough to render me unable to play the game, multiplayer is dead

Game would run on a broken calculator just fine. I loved it in 2006 when i was a kid, still love it today -- wow, how the multiplayer was fun.

8/10 overall, 10/10 nostalgia. "would take damage from implant overload again"

An old open-world FPS from 2003. It has a few problems with today's systems: movement is a bit broken - it feels like you are skating on ice, but from memory it didn't play that way on slower computers. You need to force VSync ON in your GPU control panel, because the game doesn't offer that and runs very fast. Only offers 4:3 screen resolutions.

It's hard, but you'll live longer if you hit the deck (hold Ctrl) when you come under fire. Don't judge it by the Prologue. The story is interesting enough to make me suffer the issues. The game has always had problems with enemies hitting you through cover. If you're getting hit and can't find the shooter, turn around - they're behind you. Again.

Weapon zoom is offered as a time-limited powerup once you get past the Prologue. You can change shift/ctrl to toggles under key binding, so you can stay crouched/prone without holding them down. Also bind keys for Binoculars and Health packs.

Open world missions really give you the feeling that you are in charge of the mission, and you can choose your own approach. A lot of encounters are scripted though. Watch out for dinosaurs.

this game is a supriser. my expectations werent high when i installed this game. it looked like a basic, a little cheap looking old fps game. as i started it, i put on medium difficulty, and it was suprisingly hard. the first level was hell for me, but on second mission i started already getting the hang of it. its a tactical shooter. you are supposed to play it the right way, not like any basic fps game. It can be super hard if you make it super hard. surely this game is not for everyone, as we can see in negative reviews stating that this game is impossible. you just have to take your time when playing this.

No, this game is not perfect. not even near it. the accurasy of ai is a bit too high, which is probably the biggest reason why people may not like this game. i have experienced it, but i dont mind it to be a overwhelming problem. interior sections are very repeative and boring, and usually the hardest parts. also moving feels like running on ice. Not game breaking problems but problems still. i could state all the problems of the animations of the cutscenes and voice acting, but as this a fps game, it isnt the games most important thing. and we have to remember how old this game is, when judging.

So, overall, this game is good. although if the devs would have worked a little longer on this, and fixed the problems i mentioned, then this game would have been Game of the Year material at the time. Still this version is a fun experience and i recommend it warmly. For 50cents on sale, its well worth the money. it may not look much, but the gameplay is much deeper. just approach it the right way, and you may enjoy it. 4/5
