I don't know why people are so upset about an old game.

The gameplay is absolutely horrible. I understand that this game was made in 2003, but the gameplay in 1994 when Doom was around, was better. I mean, you can barely move forward, without feeling like you're moving along in a game of checkers or chess. I played this originally, thinking all of the other reviews were bull ♥♥♥♥, and came to be proven completely wrong. The voice acting is a joke. I had to stop playing after the first mission, because it felt like a chore just to play this game. I can't begin to explain how horrid the movement is, without someone personally trying the game. I STRONGLY recommend that you DO NOT waste your money on this game.

Ugh. Horrible game.

You start the first mission with a stupid, ugly guy who yells at you if you do anything he doesn't tell you to do. Keep disobeying and he makes you restart the level.

Scout ahead? Restart the level.

Wait to loot dead enemies? Restart level.

Walk too fast acroos the bridge you were ordered to cross? Restart.

Don't feel like suicidally rushing the snipers nest head on? Restart.

Don't feel like covering Captain Crewcut from the sniper's nest? Restart.

Let even one single soldier go after Captain Crewcut? Restart (Apparantly he's defenseless and incompetent. Why was he allowed to accompany the player on a combat mission?)

And of course, if you kill him like the dog he is, then you get a big fat restart.

I somehow got through the first level only to find out that...well...the game really shouldn't have made me restart for gunning him down.

So yeah, waste of time, don't even bother.

a very old and outdated fps, the ideas the game has are great just like far cry 1 it has open maps, secondary objectives, overall it shows potential.
But it fails terribly on its gameplay mechanics, movement is like floating on ice, the Ai is unfair with hitscan weapons and super accuracy, the inventory system is kinda useless and limits your weapons to 1 or 2, the weapons have a lot of recoil and lack a "punch"
The voice acting will give you a laugh, but story is not the main focus of the game.
It also has some bugs, like falling through the map.
Overall this is not for everyone, but if you are a fan of the genre you might want to check it out on sale.

One of the worst games on steam, hands down, poor gameplay, no freedom, missions keep ending because you've wondered 3 inches away from a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ AI that doesn'te ven duck for cover. This is a really big disappointment to as I'm normally a fan of meridian 4 games, but this was a painful let down that I'm genuinely angry I payed money for (regardless of the amount, yes the game is really just that bad, unfinished, poorly coded and it's basically just a rail shooter that wants to pretend it's an FPS/RPG.

I could not reccomend this game to anyone that has a brain or at least an active nutron in their scull. This game is falling so short you need a microscope to see it's positive parts, of which there are none.

There is no autosave system so you HAVE to manually save so if you just got past a really hard bit and there was a cutscene, well too bad on you because you forgot to manual save so when you die, you start again

The game screams at you if you walk 5 feet in the wrong direction and it is trying so hard to be call of duty and Halo at the same time that I'm not even sure where to begin in the faults

There are no positives with this horrid game that is essentially torture.

The graphics are laughable, the level design is so anti-player you might aswell play Half Life 1 with two bricks shoved in your eyes.

The voice acting is sub-porn quality and we have duke nukem in a game about being serious

The story is so bad it's not even funny. There is no backstory as to why anyone does anything in this and it's all round just the worst story ever.

It does not innovate because everything in this has been seen before. The inventory system has been seen in Resident Evil 4 and many other games.

The guns are nothing new just a different way to file bullets under faces

You may argue that the graphics were good for their day and I may argue that Mirrors Edge came out a year before this game.

This is an atrocious game and unless you want to torture yourself through ♥♥♥♥ing endless hours of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ overpowered sniper ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥s who are 100% accurate and without the laser to tell you where their aim is, I think this is one to pass on. As in if you get it gifted to you, give that person Ride to Hell: Retribution in return.

First mission and the character immediately walks backwards on his own and can't open up any menus.

11/10, everything I expected and more.

Chrome..... A somewhat disappointing game to be honest. The graphics are what one might expect from this the time and are ok, and after adjusting to the way the controls work become relatively intuitive. But thats where the good points end. This games has some major flaws, without putting spoliers, the storyline is extremly skin deep only and is not involving in any real way, it is poorly deveoped and barely explained. The campaign itself is completely linear with no abiliy to affect the overall plot except in the absolute final mission (which determines the ending), and feels very rushed from the outset. Furthermore although each mission is different there's an unshakable feeling of repeatition. That brings me to the implants feature, which in all seriousness is not well designed and is not frankly needed or a particularly positive element to the game.
To conclude, a game which could have had some real potential but that fails to deliver, rushed and under-deveoped. If it's on sale then by all means have a go, if not, don't bother. Rating: 2/5

I know Logan (that is you) walks around like hes drunk and I also know that this stinks. BUT! Once you get past the few (minor) flaws this game has: older graphics, odd voiceactors, somewhat robotic animations and that actually covers all of them, you are in for a hell of a fun shooter. The setting is pretty cool, being a merc and shooting up facilities full of Corporate goons for example. It's a well done shooter by some polish guys (most of them named Pawel)

BE WARNED THOUGH: I'd almost referr to this game as old school, so I don't assume that 14 year old CoD fanatics will take alot of liking to this product due to a major lack of quick-time events, HD-explosions and superfast knive attacks.

This baby rocks every Sci-Fi caring gamers virtual life for very small money!

Chrome is stupid. Downright, undeniably stupid. I want to review this properly, but I really can't. Imagine if every trait of classic halo was stupid and terrible. That's Chrome. That said, it's so stupid, that it provides a nice laugh when you're with your mates, and for that reason, I recommend it. Not because it's good, but because it's so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ awful that you absolutely must experience it.

great game with open maps allowing the player to chose how they engage the enemy. Chrome is quite hard but has a brilliant story and gives the player open mission spaces, vehicals and the ability to chose their load out prior to each mission. Chrome draws influences from Daus Ex and System shock with the player gaining acessess to specal implant based powers to augment their preformance and a grid based inventory. with three possible endings Chrome is a real treat and if you can get past the dated graphical apearance you will likely find something you like in it.

Cool game:)
I am stuck at the part in the prologue where there are troops approaching the tower and you are sniping.
Not that it's too hard, I just run out of ammo.
First game I ever got o steam:)

tl;dr Duke Nukem: The Later Years

A silly, ambitious little shooter that operates well (for its scope) as it includes a multitude of aspects. Maybe it was big/semi-big back when it launched, but I find most of it laughable yet enjoyable.

As a game, it operates with some clunk, but thus far, it hasn't been anything serious. Movement isn't exactly smooth, but it works, and inventory system has proven less than ideal, but again, it works. The HUD looks nice, but I'm not sure it's all actually "useful." The vehicles could handle better, but then again, I wouldn't expect vehicles and sprawling environments in a corridor-shooter that this game appeared to be in the prologue.

Some of the aesthetics and concepts like the HUD were probably phenominal back then, but basic polish is also not present. Still, if you can overlook graphical oddities and over-the-top gameplay elements (e. g.: the pseudo-realistic jerking of bodies as they die), you might enjoy this title.

I'd save my recommendation for shooter fans, or possibly Rambo-action movie fans. I'll likely update this when I've played more of the game. In the end, at least initially, it's a cheap thrill and I'm happy I purchased it.

Straight to DVD Sci-fi Shooter. I enjoy the ragdoll like effects it tries to pull off and the vast world of nothingness (kind of reminds me of Halo: CE in a way). Most of all I enjoy the voice of the character you play as, Logan. To me it sounds like the same guy who does Honest Trailers. And if you don't know what Honest Trailers is, look it up on YouTube, your welcome.
