What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Guardians of Ember is the newest title from Runewaker, the developer behind Runes of Magic and Dragon's Prophet. Although the game is almost feature complete, we are still working on the English localization (mostly finalizing Act 5 and the 6th class which will be included in the final product), bug fixes and smaller balancing and polishing tasks. Instead of waiting for the complete localization we want to use the Early Access phase to gather feedback from the community by releasing Act 1 & 2 first (Act 3 was released during Christmas and Act 4 recently).”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We expect that GoE will be in Early Access between 3 to 6 months. At the moment it is planned to release new major content on a regular basis so that the release version will have the full content ready and polished. The sixt character class is currently scheduled for release in March and Act 5 in May. We are also working on new PvP options as well as harder difficulty in Dungeons and a "wave"-based challenge mode during Early Access.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Beside the localization issues (and the fact that we would like to provide a German and French version as soon as possible) the major difference is content wise as we plan to implement Act 5 incl. the related territories, dungeons, character levels and items as well as the 6th class and several new features and modes.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“As a previous version of the game had a beta in Asia before the majority of the features is already implemented (including but not limited to crafting, guild system, PVP, message system, randomized dungeons). From our own player perspective the current state is a very good open beta, but we need to fix several bugs and also don't want to go commercial without the full content! However, our servers did not have a stress test yet and they were initially located in Germany only with US servers added recently. We will provide local servers throughout EA based on player population and necessity.

We are working hard to improve the game but please only buy this product if you want to support the development and accept that the product quality is not final yet (and has bugs).”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“While the final pricing has not been decided yet, beside the fact that Early Access buyers have our eternal gratitude they also benefit from their early decision due to the several ingame bonus items and benefits that we put into the different packages.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“In the last couple of years our team worked with several online games and the most valuable source for the right direction of a product was ALWAYS the community.

This means:
We are happy to get your ideas and to discuss these!
Yes, it is not always possible to make all of the ideas real and we might refuse some of them, but we listen and want to deliver a great experience with your help!”

[Server Downtime] Dark Knight Release & 1074 Patch Schedule

Hello Immortals,

Our servers will be brought down starting at 9AM, CET on March 29th, 2017. The purpose of this downtime will be twofold: we will be releasing the Dark Knight in all its corrupted glory and will be patching the client to version 1074.

This patch fixes many issues and even implements player-suggested features. The list below may change as we are still thoroughly QA’ing all of the fixes and additions. That said, preliminary testing has been great. We will announce any changes before ‘go-time’.

Due to the length of our patch - and the content we are releasing, we cannot give a time-frame for the downtime. Please know that we will strive to bring the servers back up as soon as humanly (and inhumanly) possible and we will announce the up-time as soon as it happens! As Randy Pausch once said, ”We cannot change the cards we are dealt, just how we play the game”.

With that, we welcome you all to GoE 1074:

  • Adding the Dark Knight: a new class focused around corrupted abilities
  • Fixed an issue where the Compendium card, Death Defiler, was not dropping, yet the Death Defiler was dropping the wrong card
  • Fixed an issue where the crafting area was showing symbols instead of proper text
  • Fixed an issue where the Engineering Research Station minimap text did not fit
  • Fixed the floating, empty, brazier found in the Tunneler’s Crypt
  • Fixed truncated “contribution” text within the guild interface
  • Fixed an issue where the minimap would show incorrect character location
  • Fixed an issue where the Frozen Reach Plunderer achievement was completed, but not claimable
  • Fixed an issue with the following Mire of Scars cards that would either not drop or the mob could not be located:
    • Noxus
    • David Osmond
    • Swamp Giant Chief (Should drop from the Bodyguard Captain) - revised
    • Commune Member - removed & updated
    • Ghostly Skull - removed & updated
  • Fixed an issue with the following Disputed Plains cards that would either not drop or the mob could not be located:
    • Koro the Touched - removed
    • Cunning Haru - removed
    • Burning Gakira - removed
    • Tunneled Hunter Lizard - removed
    • Lu Daka - now drops the card as intended
  • Fixed an issue where an invisible wall was being randomly generated in dungeons, preventing completion
  • Fixed an issue where mounting certain mounts turned player’s character into Mini-Me
  • Fixed an issue where the contents of the ending chest rewards for normal dungeons was predictable (i.e. choose left chest for purple)
  • Fixed an issue where the game would crash to the desktop when clicking the ‘bug report’ button in the ‘esc’ menu
  • Changed order and frequency of skill unlocks with the Dark Knight
  • Adjusted Dark Knight Skills based on QA feedback
  • Fixed QA issues with the upcoming Horde Mode PvE Arena
  • Suggestion Accepted: Dungeon resets have been reduced to 15 minutes from the original 30
  • Suggestion Accepted: Housing Inventory Expansions are now tradable between other characters on account

We thank you for all your patience and support,
Your GoE Team

NEW: Demigod Edition

About This Game

After years of war the world of Olyndale has descended into chaos.
As a Guardian of Ember, your brotherhood marks the last line of defense against a dark menace. Sinister forces threaten the land and can only be stopped by the ancient Ember. The future of Olyndale lies on your shoulders. It is your fate - and your duty - to retrieve the magic stone and bring back peace to Olyndale.

Choose from six different classes and extend your skill set by selecting a secondary class after reaching level 15. A variety of 58 different regions with over 60 randomized and challenging dungeons await, where you battle against monsters, mortals and the living dead during your crusade to retrieve the Ember.

Developed by the hardcore gamers of Runewaker (the team behind Runes of Magic and Dragon's Prophet), Guardians of Ember combines Hack'n'Slash and traditional MMORPG with a focus on action oriented combat in PVE and PVP as well as near endless character optimization.

- Full 3D MMORPG with Hack'n'Slash Combat System
- near unlimited character optimization: 5 races and 5 classes (a 6th post launch) with over 300 of active and passive skills
- dual class system (available from level 15)
- randomized dungeons with individual difficulty settings
- crafting and enchanting system: Design your perfect equipment
- housing system: Decorate your own house with hundreds of items
- engaging story with hundreds of quests
- several mini activities to gather resources like Fishing, Mining and Planting
- various PVP options (1vs1, 3vs3, 5vs5 - ranked and unranked)
- NEW: Germany- and US-based servers, further locations might be added at a later stage based on player demand

Please note: The game is launching into Early Access. This means that despite two prior technical tests (CBTs) bugs and server issues are to be expected. We are working hard to improve the game but please only buy this product if you want to support the development and accept that the product quality is not final yet.
