This is not a complex game. In fact, the whole sum of your adventures is this: follow your indicator to the next bank, kill the boss, and take his weapon.

It's all about shooting everything that's trying to shoot you in return. It's a small, simple pleasure type of thing, and the simplicity is a pleasure in itself.

So then, up front, the title and your likely first impression of the game are probably a touch misleading. This game is not any entry of the Grand Theft Auto series, and comparisons as they exist are entirely thematic. Frankly, on that note, the game's setting didn't have to involve bank robberies and a fight against the police at all. There's really no "State of Anarchy" to be found in the game, as there's no place to incite anything that the title might imply. It's a very simple top-down shooter where you shoot enemies who happen to be cops (actually, that's not even explicitly stated). It could have been about anything.

The basic shape of the game is a short jaunt shooting through fairly repetitive levels. Took about an hour and a half for me to beat the normal game, and you could surely do it quicker.
You start with a small gun, and you shoot guys and vehicles while you're in the 'town' area. There's nothing going on in this town aside from enemies (who all just head straight toward you and attack), static obstructions, and cars you can steal, which offer you protection while they last.
You make your way through the town to one of a handful of banks, wherein you attack an arena-type level of endless enemies and a target boss (basically just a rotating turret in the middle), who holds your next silly weapon upgrade. After you kill the boss, you spend your gained skill points on one of a few stats, and move on.
Your crime level generally raises as you commit your tomfoolery, which tosses tougher enemies your way. Money on the ground is added experience, and health kits are... health kits. That's basically it.

Graphically, this game is exactly what you see in screen shots. Models are just sprites that rotate and die. The finest point of the visuals is the very legible and helpful color coding. All shots are red. Avoid red. Green is money, health, and usable cars. Get green. Anything that moves is an enemy. You will never not know what is going on in this game, and that's kind of great.

The sound is... there. There's a jumpy ska song that you won't want to hear for very long. The sound effects are all basically beatboxed. Turn the sound off on the title screen, and load up a podcast, or your own music. "Fingerbib" is a winning backdrop, here. Give it a shot.

The thing controls butter smooth, save for driving cars, which drive in precisely the tank-turning control manner you expect. Would it feel right if cars were easy to drive in this kind of game? Somehow, no. You'll spend most of your time in cars just doing donuts over dozens of enemies and blasting out trucks to collect health, and why not?

Fun bit: shots ricochet, so kiting a bunch of enemies into a wedge or hallway shaped area is satisfying.

The only real gripe I have with the game is the 'hardcore' mode.
On glancing at the picture for the hardcore option, it shows your sprite against more, and tougher, enemies. So, I thought it would just be more of what it had already given on my play through the normal mode. Not really the case.
To begin with, I don't think I noticed an increase in enemy numbers. They didn't seem tougher, either. I could be wrong, or it may just not matter in the thick of shooting a lot of crap.
The differences I did note are twofold, easy to point out, and hard to like.
Firstly, it takes a weird roguelike swing at death in this mode. If you die, the only advancement you'll retain is your gun, as these are effectively tied to what stage you're on. So, you'll get to retry on that stage, as per the normal game, but your character will drop back to level one. Which, as you'll quickly surmise after your first death, is just irritating at any higher stage, being flooded by tougher enemies out of the gate. You can try to get back in it, or hole up somewhere and level up a bit - but, remember, you don't get the prompt to upgrade stats until you kill the boss of your current stage. Thereby, if you were to die on the last level...
And, secondly, it appears you have to complete it in one go. Your progress doesn't hold if you close the game.
These two things, in a game that is so obviously limited in what it does, didn't hold enough to warrant sticking it through for the hardcore mode, for me.

Otherwise, it was a fun short game, cheap as ramen. Shoot stuff.

Nice 2D indie game. The game consists of attacking banks to kill the bad guy inside and get upgrades for the character and the weapon. Basically, you arrive to bank, kill bad guy inside, pickup his gun (which is better than yours), receives a small improvement, run away, picks a car and return to another bank to repeat this once again under more difficult circumstances. As the game progresses, stronger enemies appear, and you have to do the same thing over and over. The engines and the mechanics are alright, the enemies move well and they tend to come from many sides to you. In the map atmosphere you'll find everything that a normal city has, alike: buildings, streets, cars and nature objects.
The gameplay is good but becomes a little repetitive. No is that game to play every day and i probably won't come back to this game often but I had fun playing it. The graphics are simple, two-dimensional and they look attractive. Soundtrack is really good. In summary, it’s a pretty action-indie with a good quality-price ratio as well as a level-based game.

I woulnt reccomend the only games I play from new reality games are pugatory 4/10 Project Startship 10/10 and City of chains 10/10 They are very lazy in game design and often just retexture things and pass it off as a new game such as AI Rampage and Rabiez: Epidemic they are virtually the same game and they are theives not to mention they stole the entire concept of Super crate box which is free and made it into a game called Dead6hot and is selling it for 99 cents and the worst part about it is its garbage its just bad super crate box is fun and the knockoff they made is borderline unplayable atonement scourge of time and city of chains are both rpgs and are both very similar point being dont buy anything from New Reality without looking into it first.

SoA... State of Anarchy is a Grand Theft Auto as seen by a 10 year old. AND ITS GREAT. Honestly, with the cartooning and simple graphics ( being top down) with a upbeat loop music of reggae beats, you rob banks and create, well anarchy. The story line seems to be just a guy wakes up some morning and with nothing to lose, goes on a bank robbing spree.... With a W,A,S,D , space bar and mouse controls to just move and shoot, (with getting into cars with space bar) its easy to pick up and cause, well anarchy. I personnaly like that the sound effects are all human made mouth noises. It's funny and adds charm to shoot a gun and you can imagine the guy going '' patwoo, patwoo. patwoo '' every time you fire the rocket launcher. There is a normal and hardcore mode to go through 25 bank robberies levels. Each level you get a diffrent gun to implement/use and kill the boss in the bank to well cause, anarchy. You also level up and get to choose outta of 4 improvements along with your new weapons. Life, life regen, movement, and shooting speed. Its simple and crude with doodle-ing at its best. It's a good one to let your inner psycho child go with.

A neat game, but still no achievements, sadly, and the overall depth of the game is pretty shallow. You have this repetitve gameplay with nothing to work with (at least, nothing that I've noticed in 1 hour of gameplay). No co-op, no multiplayer, no competitve environment.

Yes, this game has more or less polished core gameplay -- I didn't encounter any bugs, except weird AI pathing. But I don't think I'll return to this game after I'll mine the cards out of it.

Granted, the game's really cheap. But it currently has a quality of a free flash game from a site like Newgrounds or something similar.

And the saddest part is, devs are asking players to fund their game on IndieGoGo, in order to make new features -- I mean, come on, you've made this game in a timespan of less than a month, or possibly even less, juding by the amount of content in it -- it might've been made during a game jam or a hackathon of some sorts.

Would I recommend it to anyone? Nah, skip it. If you want some GTA+Crimsonland game, that was made in less than a month, go to some flash games site and play some.

This is a mid-tier Newgrounds flash game. That you pay $0.59 for.

There's no depth and about 6 minute's worth of fun. The trailer for this covers literally every aspect of the game.
