What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“As a Virtual Reality online multiplayer game with planned competition features, it is important to build the game for the community, with the community.
Early Access allows a dialog with players and ensures that the overall game polish and UX is as good as possible.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“The game is expected to be in Early Access for a short while, between 2-6 months.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Our goal is to polish and improve the core experience, and gradually introduce rich social features such as tournaments, more robust in-match and out-of-match progression and more.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The PvP game loop with the best-of-three game mode is fully up and running, and while it will be extended, polished and improved over time, it gives a solid framework to build upon. Simple bot-style single-player to practice against is included as well. Various game play metrics are collected to help making improvements going forward.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The price of the game is expected to increase as new features and content are introduced over time and the pricing structure of high quality VR games evolves in the future.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Direct feedback from the community on game balancing issues and bug fixes is very important for us to react on. We hope that the community both provides feature requests based on their experience with the game, and then helps sanity check the features and their designs as they get implemented.”

Match making updates coming soon

Hi fellow Kaiju destroyers,

I just wanted to let you know that we're working on a better experience for finding other players in multiplayer, and it should be heading your way pretty soon.

Instead of sitting alone in the match waiting for someone to show up, which is utterly boring, especially in VR, you'll just be put in a queue, and you can go off playing single player, or twiddle with the settings, until another player also joins the queue. Then you'll both get notified and put into the match. You'll be able to leave the queue up until you get matched, but after that you're committed.

Once that's working well, we'll move on and add friend challenges, so you don't always have to play random strangers.

And in a couple of days, my colleague will drop a few lines here about the progression features we're working on, so stay tuned!

Wednesday hot fix

While we keep working on larger items such as persisted progression, we want to give you a small update with a couple of things you've asked for, and some for which you didnt!

  • Support for NVIDIA Multi-Res, which vastly improves performance on supported NVIDIA graphics cards.
  • You can now quit a match using the controller menu button. Single player matches can be quit at any time, while multiplayer matches can only be quit before another player joins.
  • Fixed the one-controller-sometimes-has-no-vibration bug.
  • Walk-over victory for remaining player if the other disconnects during multiplayer.
  • New options menu with Multi-Res, Graphics Quality, and Sound Volume settings.
  • UI button sounds.
  • A couple of other minor things that were bugging us.

Love this game! The visuals are absolutely incredible! PvP games in VR are still in early stages but I have to say I enjoyed battling my friends in Super Kaiju more than in Hover Junkers. The game is easy to new-comers to VR but also pretty in-depth when you start understanding the mechanics. It's still in early stages but the devs are hard working and constantly pumping out updates. I'm super excited to see where the game is going. 10/10

Hi really enjoyed this s great game. Fast and fun gameplay is a shooter. I thought it would be more movement and walking around like true robot combat. It is fun. The game seriously needs a small tutorial I didn't know what I was doing till about three games into it.

waves of enemys spawn in the middle, planes, helicopter looking things, and other flying objects. You stand on the opposite side from the enemy. Both of you try to kill the flying objects. when you kill an object you get stars... starts can be spent on barraging your opponent with missles or using a shield to defend against oncoming damage. The game is very basic right now, but it is a really neat and fun game. I love the idea behind the game and I cant wait to see it fill out more. There is no tutorial at this point and only one game mode, but its very polished and well done.. The game almost feels like the shooting in SPT, like your playing SPT against someone else head on and the one who kills the most gets the power ups. Right now ther are not many playing multiplayer so i cannot tell you how that works, but i do think this is a BUY NOW title.

I'm going to keep updating the review, as I build playtime.

Marketing feedback - was a bit dissapointed that the game didnt use the same soundtrack as the advert on steam. The music and advert were enough to convince me to dive in now.

After 2 games - like it! great idea and if there's depth to this gameplay I'm all in (I lost both of my first two games).

Could do with a very brief tutorial (how to pickup bombs etc)

Graphics and overall polish seems really good already, quality work so far!

The game is basically a shooter where you compete against someone else to try to lower their life before they lower yours.

I was surprised and disappointed at how shallow this game was. Especially for the price point.

I have since removed it from my library.

This is a fun little concept, the mechanics work well for VR, always facing in one direction at a primary target, there is no worry about tripping over wires. You still get a chance to play in a 360 degree environment with little targets buzzing around to hit for "star" points. Overall this feels like a fast paced, fun little game for those looking for a VR fix. Do not expect a whole lot in terms of features at this point, it has a ways to go to be a fully realized but if you don't mind investing a few bucks in neat little experience, by all means give it a try!

Nice graphics and positional audio. I don't have a problem with the ambient background music. The FX are important so you can zero in on the sounds.

This game is basically a high quality shooting gallery/shmup/vs. shooter. In a way it feels like a card battle game, where you're shooting enemies instead of turning cards. it's pretty fun.

I decided to give this game thumb down.
Becasue in game music is super dull.
it makes me furious.

Listen up guys.
this game is cool, game is fun.
but with this music, I feel myself flagging.

Devs definitely have good sense of game developing
Such as gameplay, UI Design, Font Design, Sense of Control
and Sound effect. Devs have good sense of these.

but, BUT!! Decisively, devs have no sense of choosing music.
this is super bad.

OK. you can buy this game if you never care about game music
and if you like dull music in trailer, I recommend you guys to buy this game.
because gameplay has potential, it is quite cool.
and except music, game is polished pretty well. it is worth for the price.

but, I will give thumb down, for developers and players.
with this feedback they will realize how in game music is important.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I changed my mind to give thumb up
because Devs promise me music will be updated very soon.
and I know how important the first feedback is.

but if they don't update or update dull music.
I will give thumb down again.

Thanx
