I'm not one for playing fighting games but playing this game reminded me of playing street fighter 2 on the mega drive, i love the graphics on this game and the game is very pick up and play, there isn't a great deal of difficulty on the controls. I've been playing a short while and i've mastered most of the controls already, i'm looking forward to battling others on steam.

i would recommend any fans of prevous street fighters to buy this game

This fighting game is trash. The controls are absolutely awful. A fighting game should feel fluid and good simply by moving the joystick around and pressing the buttons. I have no problems at all playing any other fighting game, including Virtua Fighter and Tekken, and yet I have significant trouble playing this game in terms of skill and enjoyment. I have the original street fighter 2 Super Famicom port, and playing that game with my terrible old controllers that creak like hell is more enjoyable than playing SF4AE.

I don't know how the hell this game got so popular in the west. Is it the clunky controls?

I absolutely love this game. This is every fighter fan's dream come true. The game looks good and one can have a hard time trying to stop playing it for hours in a row. This game is not about mindless button mashing, but is about having fun by having a strategy to defeat the opponent.

SFIV is probably consistently the best money I've spent. My Xbox 360 version got a scratch, picked it up (and Ultra) last summer sale, and have enjoyed it ever since.

It's all good and well allowing people to upload to youtube, but it's not ok, for Capcom to auto add a copyright notice to said video Oo No matter what SF video i upload, be it from SF4 or SF5, the same thing happens every time. I think i'll resort to disallowing any capcom videos from being upladed to my youtube channels, i'm not even going to make a video regarding this issue. The games are good, but you really gotta get a grip when it comes to the blatent misuse of the DMCA of youtube.

- I choose Dan
- My opponent picks Dudley
- It's the last round and we both have 20% health
- I'm in the corner. He throws out an Ultra 1
- I blocked and now he's open. I go in with Dan's Ultra 1
- Window pops up "The player has left the session"

Game didnt work online properly for a year, then they released a patch that you had to pay for titled ULTRA STREET FIGHTER IV ARCADE/ULTRA edition. If you didnt pay for the update, then you kept the broken game and had a divided community to play against. That didn't matter, since online rarely worked.

0/10, poorly managed PC release, again. Refund required.

As a game, Ultra Street Fighter IV is pretty good. The main thing I look for in a fighting game is gameplay, and USF4 mostly delivers in that respect. However, as a PC port, USF4 is disappointing. That doesn't mean you should write it off, however.

USF4 is the final entry in Capcom's line of Street Fighter 4 games. Before this particular entry was developed, Capcom made the stupid decision to saddle its PC ports of Street Fighter IV and Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition with Games For Windows Live. GFWL is DRM that no customer wanted; not only was it unnecessary, but it caused problems for many of the game's paying customers. When Capcom seemingly did the right thing by patching GFWL out of SSF4:AE's PC port, the game's netcode inexplicably took a serious hit. Online play became unreliable at best.

Not long after leaving GFWL in the past, Capcom announced that it would develop USF4, and that this update would be developed with Steamworks-based netcode. PC gamers had reason to believe that USF4 would have great online gameplay because it would supposedly be developed from the ground up without any GFWL integration. What PC gamers got instead was simply a patched version of SSF4:AE that still features the same broken netcode. Capcom promised to fix the netcode, butyears later, it has clearly failed to carry out that promise. With Street Fighter 5 having been released, it is unlikely that Capcom will ever fix Street Fighter 4's netcode for the PC.

What USF4's sorry state of online play usually amounts to is that internet-based games will be unplayably laggy. This problem occurs even when both of the players are in the same region and have stable internet connections. If you have the fortune of playing online without significant lag, the experience is compromised by the fact that the game does not support voice chat or even native texting.

The game isn't a total wash. You can have a good time playing with a buddy who's physically in the same room as you, and the single player arcade mode is mostly fun to play through. For me, the fun stops as soon as I reach Seth, the game's final boss. He's frustratingly cheap and you'll probably struggle to win more than one round against him unless you resort to memorizing his patterns and exploiting their few loopholes in a very contrived manner.

Seth battles notwithstanding, USF4's gameplay is solid. However, I don't like Capcom's decision to substite the SF4 games with a focus attack system instead of the parry system that was introduced in Street Fighter III. Although USF4's roster is large, there are many shoto clones, so the gameplay between characters isn't as diverse as your eyes may lead you to believe.

As far as graphics go, the characters look pretty good, although Decapre looks way too derivative of Cammy for a first time playable character who was hyped to the moon. (Thankfully, she handles completely differently and does indeed function as a unique character.) Most of the backgrounds are bland and unimaginative, but this has been a problem with every Street Fighter game since Capcom moved on from the Street Fighter II series.

I really dislike that game's music, sound effects, and especially its announcer. Sound-wise, the only thing I like about the game is the voice acting.

Bottom line, this is a pretty good game, but Capcom should be ashamed for promising to fix SSF4:AE's netcode, only to release this installment and have it suffer from the same problem that Capcom neglected to fix. Mainly for that reason, I disapprove of this port, but not the game itself. People who have friends who can play with them IRL will likely derive the most enjoyment from the PC port of USF4.

Been playing Ultra on Steam on and off for the past 2 months. In terms of graphics, it is the best looking version followed by PS4, 360 and PS3 bringing up the rear. In terms of online play, XBLV is superior in regard to connection (surprisingly) and amount of players. Steam and PS3 are about even in connection quality with the PS4 version bringing up the rear.

Being able to mod the PC version is a plus, but in terms of online competition (quantity and quality) XBLV is best. It’s too bad online matches across all platforms wasn’t considered viable until recently.

All in all, you can’t go wrong with this game regardless of platform.

8.5/10

Street Fighter 4 was the first fighting game I ever enjoyed. I've played others, but the focus on spacial awreness and control over combos, combined with the limited number of characters on screen (vs a game like Smash Borthers or Marvel vs Capcom), allowed me room to learn the game just by playing alone or online.

Pros:
+Solid combat systems with good balance
+The online (it's not Mortal Kombat)
+One of the easier fighting game franchises
+Multitude of characters

Cons:
-Unblockable overheads
-A few particuarly unbalanced characters
-The online (it's not Skullgirls or SF5)
-Lack of real tutorial or the single-player extras of some other fighting games

This wil be a difficult game for new players. By now all the SF4 exploits are known, and almost everyone knows at least one combo.

This is a game I've spent 1100 hrs of my life on. No other game I own has topped 500 hrs of my time. I believe SF5 will prove a better experience overall, but for fighting game fans and anyone curious about the genre USF4 is as good a place to begin as any.
