Titan Quest Gold Review (TQ+TQ:IT)
This is one amazing ARPG. I first played it when Titan Quest came out in 2006 (Titan Quest: Immortal Throne is simply the expansion which came out in 2007) and ended up spending hundreds, maybe thousands of hours playing it - there is simply something special about it. The negative:
The game has some bugs that were never fixed (as Iron Lore ended up closing down before any major patches were released) but it's nothing game breaking. In addition, we're expexting some patches to come through from Nordic games in the near future.
Another aspect that is worth noting is the fact that this game has no randomization (though it didn't stop me from spending a BIG portion of my time playing it). The positive:
First of all, the game takes place in an alternative ancient world - the devs decided to take myths and legends from all over the world and use them as a base for the game's story and the result is astounding. Not only is the story very interesting but devs and the the voice actors did an amzing job presenting it to the player.
In addition to the enthralling story the game offers a total of 9 masteries of which you get to combine 2 in order to create a unique build to suit your personal play style (You can choose your second mastery after level 8).
Another major aspect of the game that is worth mentioning is the environments - let's just say that they are breathtaking. You can really see all the hard work that went into making this game.
Last but not least, the game is long. I'm currently replaying it and at 10+ hours I haven't even gotten through Act I, and there's a total of 4 Acts + 3 difficulties!!! It's bound to keep you playing for a long time. The conclusion:
All in all, this game has a lot to offer to those who are willing to spend some time with it. Sure, it has some bugs, but what game doesn't? And unlike most games, it offers a very solid story combined with great audio and visual effects as well as a rather unique skill system.
I would recommend this game to any fan of the ARPG genre. It's not too late to try it out!
