Usurper (Sequel to SiS) is out now into Early Access!

Hello folks!

Usurper is out now into Early Access, but first, please read this disclaimer about Early Access before continuing, or buying Usurper in its current state:

DISCLAIMER

Since this is an Early Access game, we remind you that whilst the entire story is complete, there are a lot of features missing or imcomplete. Therefore, if you wish to play the full feature-complete game first time, we suggest you wait until Usurper comes out of Early Access.

We will NOT be increasing the price of the game once it comes out of Early Access, so you don't need to worry about the cost when deciding when to buy the game. We'd much rather you bought the version of the game you will be happiest with. During Usurper's time in Early Access, we expect there to be a host of balancing issues, particularly due to different stat builds. So if you want a more complete experience, please wait until the full game is released - we genuinely don't mind!

A final thing we'd like to point out is that we DO have a solid and specific plan of what we will be implementing when during Early Access, as well as a history of finishing a game in Early Access.

For a brief synopsis of features to come, please do read the updated EA statement on our Usurper Steam store page. If you'd like even more info, the easiest way to contact us is via our Discord server (find the link at the bottom of this post).

ABOUT EARLY ACCESS

So if you're still interested in the Early Access version of Usurper or wish to add it to your wishlist, here's the link to the Steam Store Page

We really hope you enjoy the Early Access version of Usurper, and continue to support us as we add more and more content to it over the next 8-12 weeks. If you decide to buy Usurper during Early Access, we would be really grateful if you could send us any bug reports/suggestions/comments. The whole point of Usurper going through Early Access is to use customer feedback to make the game better, fix balancing issues, and grow the game according to what you would all like to see (where feasible of course).

UPDATES DURING EARLY ACCESS

+ Game updates are to be expected every other day.
+ Bugfixes will occur at any given point during the week, depending on when bugs are found and how easy they are to fix.
+ There will be a weekly update report in the form of a Steam announcement (with a set format to get changes and patch notes across quickly)
+ Our Discord server (link below) will be the easiest and most convenient place to contact us

DISCORD

Join our Discord server!

As always, we strongly recommend that you join our Discord server if you want to be completely up-to-date, or just want to hang out. We are extremely active on there, posting updates and screenshots most days. And if you're worried about spoilers, we have dedicated rooms for those, so they're easy to avoid. It's also super convenient for us to receive bug reports since you can post images, but it's also a direct way to give us suggestions and other comments.

FINALLY...

A big thank you to everyone that has patiently waited for this day, we could not do it without you. We hope to see your feedback either in the relevant Steam thread, or in Discord!

Fan Art Competition - The Results!

Hello everyone!

It's the moment you've been waiting for - the results of the fan art competition are in!

Just before we announce the winners, a HUGE thank you to everyone that entered the competition. We hope you all enjoyed taking part, and we both genuinely found it incredibly difficult choosing the winners - despite there being only 6 entries. There was a very high standard of entries, not only in terms of art ability, but also in terms of imagination and creativity. Put it this way - we sat down for 45 minutes to debate who the winners would be - it was not an easy task!

And so the winners are...

Without further ado, here are the winners, with links to their art, and our reasoning behind the decisions further below:

1st place: VulpusAlbus - SiS Cartoon
2nd place: BenWolfers - Shrouded in Beach
3rd place: Toanterror - Shrouded in Sanity

1st place - VulpusAlbus - Shrouded in Sanity Cartoon

We absolutely loved the creativity in this one! It was a very different kind of submission to the others, which made it stand out - perhaps in a way we were not expecting, which made it all the more appealing. The plasticene style won us over, and made us smile in delight! You can tell Vulpus put in a lot of effort and played to their strengths, resulting in a really unique and creative bit of work. Well done!

2nd place - BenWolfers - Shrouded in Beach

A really fun take on SiS - what's not to love?! Saragat, wide-eyed in swimwear, whilst in the background what we can only presume to be one-half of the "love couple" from the manor is being chased by a maid. Fantastic! It also has more neat references - the revolver, and the pocketwatch to name just two. All in all, a lot of fun - and it made us smile a heck of a lot! Well done!

3rd place - Toanterror - Shrouded in Sanity

What can we say? Beautiful. Yeah. That about sums this one up! Seriously gorgeous artwork. It conjures up the story well; blood on the blade, the death screen via the pocketwatch, and then there's the whole beckoning glyph. The attention to detail, and sheer time it must've taken to create this makes this a really solid 3rd place. A really lovely bit of art that is worthy of being cover art. Once again, beautiful! Well done!

To All Entrants

Once again, huge congratulations to the winners, but also a really hearty pat on the back to all those that entered. You all showed a lot of effort and made us both smile with joy at your fan art. We hope you all enjoyed taking part, and really hope none of you leave feeling disheartened. Please feel free to upload your fan art onto the artwork section of Shrouded in Sanity on Steam!

IMPORTANT

To all entrants, Steve or Jam will be sending your prizes via PM either on Steam or Discord, so please make sure you have enabled communication/direct messaging if you haven't already. We will also take your details of the gravestone or pet reward this way.

Prizes will be distributed either later today or whenever we get a private venue to exchange them.

Don't forget, everyone that took part gets a key to the SiS OST, whether you won or not!

Closing words

We really hope you enjoyed that competition - we certainly did - even if judging was difficult!

For those that still want to send in fan art, please do so! We absolutely squeel in delight at seeing it.

You can either upload fan art to the artwork tabs on either game on Steam, or even post it in our Discord server. As a rule of thumb, Steve and Jam are usually on there from 10am - 10pm GMT/UTC+1 every day - so drop in and say hi!

And that's a wrap - see ya next time!
