New Codemasters/DiRT Forums

April 3

Greetings DiRT 3 Steam players,

Just wanted to let you know the new look Codemasters Forums are now live.

If you happened to be a member in the past you should be able to login using the same Codemasters Account details you used on the old forum and you'll find the login/register button in the top right of your screen (These will be the same as the details you use to login to RaceNet). Your username should be automatically pulled in but if you don't have a Codemasters/RaceNet account don't worry, setting one up is free and just takes a few moments.

That’s pretty much all you need to know to get you up and running, if you are having any problems at all just let me know either on here or Twitter.

Once you are logged in click your username at the top of the screen to visit your profile, from here you’ll be able to upload your avatar which will be used across the whole of the forum. Over on the right of this page you’ll find the edit profile button where you’ll be able to add details like your website, Twitter username, Steam ID, PSN ID or Gamertag.

While you are on the edit profile page be sure to have a good look at all the settings and the notification page, we have pop up and email options for almost everything that happens on the forum so and you can customise pretty much everything to suit your taste.

So take a look around, let me know what you think, it would be great to get some of you guys on the new boards but don't worry I'll be dropping by Steam daily still and I have been reading the GFWL and the New Game Suggestions posts even if I have been a little quiet of late :)

If you're reading this wondering if you should buy it, listen up. Unless you see somewhere that they have completed the migration from Games for Windows Live (GFWL) do NOT get it. Due to GFWL not functioning for D3 currently, starting a new game (or if like me you migrated computers and needed a fresh install) means you can't save any progress - not even in the single player mode. :(

That said... I loved DiRT 2, and was very excited about getting DiRT 3. While D3 has its own charms, it's not quite as engrossing as I found D2, though it is extremely pretty and sounds great. If you were head over heels for D2, you'll at least have a close platonic relationship with D3.

TL;DR: Good game, but not right now.

Edit: I did get D3 to save profiles after uninstalled GFWL, downloading a new client and manually re-installing it, as even using a local GFWL profile refused to work. I still don't recommend the game until Codemasters decides to bother properly updating it.

A few people bizarrely accused me of making up this issue, but simply going to the Community Hub for this game shows there are a LOT of people having this exact problem, and Codemasters have now taken over 6 months since announcing they'll update the game to fix this, but have not.

I really wanted to like this game. REALLY!

Here's what made it impossible:

1. Integration with Windows Live
It's impossible to save your progress unless you have an account

2. Mirriad of online this and online that
The moment you start the game you have to go through choice after choice pop-ups.
While you are doing that, the game talks to you using words like "awesome", "totally", "cool" and "I have a great feeling about this". None of this can be skipped, you HAVE to listen to it.

3. Boring
Apart from enhanced visuals, this game compared to DIRT2 is the same but without all the fun.

Wish I could have my money back.

Gymkhana and all the ken block stuff ruined this game, dirt 1 and 2 were better, graphically superior though than the previous games

I believe its a perfect game, but the ''Games for Windows LIVE'' makes it real bad. It says i have to update LIVE before i can use it okay, but then it can't update it and gives me an error code. Which that code doesn't lead me to any solve of the problem. So no ''LIVE'' = no save. No save = no point of doing any career in game.

Do windows look like they gonna solve it quick? I think anyone works on the problem even...

I can't even play it thanks to Micro$oft's GFWL.
Even Hitler couldn't come up with something as evil as Games For Windows Live.
