V2.10

Bit Blaster XL - V2.10 Patch Notes:
New TrailShot power up that leaves a deadly trail of bullets for your enemies to run into and explode. Includes a small ticking sound to indicate dropping bullets
New FlameShot power up that blasts a ton of small bullets that last only a brief time but can be very handy close range. Includes a flamethrower-ish sound?! I tried to make it not too overbearing, so hopefully it sounds good. :)
New power up that allows ship to regain protective shields. This will appear at certain score intervals to help on the journey to your highest score ever
New occasional power up that refills your boost meter to full instantly
Improved the BulletShield power up thanks to feedback. Now there are five bullets surrounding your ship at a slightly further distance and they move faster by default. Using this in conjunction with boost and brake makes the BulletShield spin incredibly fast or slow, cutting through enemies. Also added transitions for when you pick up or lose the power up
Reworked entire shield system under the hood (again) to be more accurate and allow further functionality
Tidied up the options and video menus. Vsync now in video options. And changed the button layouts slightly.
Background filler should now properly scale to literally any screen size imaginable (hopefully)
New bursting blue indicator showing that boost / brake meter is full
Made more minor improvements to tighten up keyboard / gamepad controls
Bounce shot now accurately bounces based on angle of incidence and will correctly last three bounces (I learned some new things YAY)
Updated pause menu graphics to show four new power ups
Modified rate at which large golden meteors appear, to be more balanced based on score
Fixed Laser / Bulletshield / Magnet sound and replaced with the proper loopable sound
Bulletshield sound now properly adjusts based on Boosting or Breaking
Applied balances to ammo usage for Manual fire, to allow autofire and manual fire to be more closely balanced for competition
Modified various particles for when shields get destroyed, added new shield pickup particle and boost pickup particle. And modified old and created new particles for each unique power up pickup
Added sound for when GiantShot splits into multiple parts
Added several double checks in hopes of clearing some of the cheaters from the scoreboard automatically (more to come)

Thank you everyone for playing and sharing the game with your friends and family. If you are really enjoying Bit Blaster, make sure to leave a brief Steam Review and let others know to check it out.

About This Game

A throwback to the classic quarter eating arcade games of the 80's. Bit Blaster XL is a retro styled, addictive, and fast paced arcade shoot 'em up! (shmup).

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
● Easy to learn, simple arcade style Controls to turn your ship, boost, and brake. (can also use a gamepad) (not a twin stick shooter)
● A variety of wicked Power ups like Split Shot, Heat seekers, Lasers, and Blast Shot to assist your survival.
● Several unlock-able ships to pilot with unique attributes to give you an edge in the Leader boards
● Endless survival (infinite) score chasing game play with a classic arcade style
● Steam achievements, leader boards & Trading cards! (with emoticons & profile wallpapers)
● Cool retro pixel Graphics.
● Gameplay inspired by Luftrausers, Asteroids, Space Invaders and Geometry Wars (some of my favorites)
● Unique chip tune songs for each ship.
● Manual Fire mode for those that want a different experience.

Description of Gameplay:
Your ship can not stop moving; so turn it left and right and use your boost/brake to keep from running into an ever increasing amount of enemies.
Your ship is always shooting, so make sure to pick up more ammo and the variety of awesome power ups to help you survive longer.
Get the highest score you can while collecting coins to buy more ships that are faster, shoot faster, or have more shields.

    • Processor: Dual Core +
    • Memory: 1 GB RAM
    • Graphics: 512mb +

    • Additional Notes: Is your computer older than ten years? You should probably get a new computer before you consider more games.
    Recommended:
    • OS: Windows 10 (why not recommend the newest?)

I used to play a lot of Asteroids as a kid, and Bit Blaster leans more towards rip-off than homage. I didn't find this game very fun.

I played this for about 15 minutes then idled to get the cards.

I'm going to have to buy the steam controller or find a way to hook a controller up! I enjoy this game though, I miss the old arcade joystick to be honest... The arrow keys just aren't that much fun for me to play with. This game cost me around $1 and I think it's worth every penny.

Excellent short arcade game that mimics asteriods but adds power-ups, more ship types, and awsome retro music.

If you like oldschool arcade style games and some achievement hunting it's well worth the 0.99€ (or 0.49 on sale). There isn't much else to say because the store description is pretty accurate. Shoot stuff, get points, have some retro fun.

Everybody who says this game is fun, has played it for less than 2 minutes. This game is fun...okay it's boring now. I expirienced all I needed to in the first five minutes. I kept playing because of a false sense of hope. Don't waste a dollar here. Just go buy laser pointer at the dollar store. I guarantee you will get more entertainment from that, then you will from this game.

A fun, cheap and easy to pick up and play space shooter. If you ever like games like asteroids I would recomend this to anyone. Plus trading cards and achievements for the people who are all about that kinda stuff. I only wish it had a total score counter cause I have no clue how far I got to go on that 1.5 million total points achievment.

Bought this on the Steam sale a couple days ago, and it's already taken a place, alongside Downwell, in the category of games that I play 5 to 20 minutes a day. The game has a very simple but effective design, and the variety of power-ups puts this game above many of its classic counterparts. I also consider this to be on par with Geometry Wars, if not better.

Like games such as Downwell, and the great arcade games of the early-mid 80s, this game has an incredible ability to put you "in the zone". My first two runs frequently end in the first minute. Then something clicks, I shift into gear, ignore the distractions around me, and I have a...blast. If not a blast, then I grow a big green sword out my front side and swash-buckle them fat space circles.

Such a great game.

I actually quite liked this game. It's very retro-arcade like, but you can buy new ships to try out just by playing it! :D

Its purpose it's just to beat your own high score, don't expect any life-changing plot twist here.

The music is repetitive, but it hasn't tired me yet. It's upbeat and fun.

TL;DR: Nice Retro-arcade time waster.

Yes and yes.

Awesome authentic feeling arcade throwback to gaming roots.

One level with bots spawning from the screens edge. Around 10-12 different weapon powerups and 8 ships to earn by collecting gold coins.

Aim for the high score on the public leaderboards like old times folk used to dun.

One for the completinist if you have the reactions.

Not much content, gets old fast, however fun for a few minutes every now and then. For the 0.49$ i paid for it, cant complain and do not regret getting it. Fun arcade style shooter, powerups make the game interesting, aswell as the ammo supply, for the price it is worth it.

Bit Blaster XL is a fun time waster with awesome soundtrack, very simple but worth to buy.

Soundtrack creator - Spiff Tune

New update!

Dev added new weapons, shield and speed charge drops.

There are also new visual effects, i really like them

Weapon balance ( explode now takes 5 ammo instad of 3, its still overpowered )

Suggestions

- DLC Soundtrack ( support dev and soundtrack creator )

- Ship upgrades ( add rockets to your ship, store more ammo! )

- Timer and new achievements ( survive 2 minutes etc. )

- Stats where you can see your overall score

- It would be awesome if dev could add random events like asteroid belt.
