What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“We’ve spent years creating Quote - now we want to hear what you think.

Early Access is the perfect platform to experience Quote’s story as it happens. We’ll be pushing out new chapters regularly, while improving both existing and future ones thanks your feedback on our gameplay and story.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Everything in Quote is hand drawn and bespoke, so it takes time to make. If all goes well we would like to be out Early Access in around 6 months.

However, if large features are added - or the game will benefit from it - it could be considerably longer.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The initial Early Access version of Quote has the first two full-length Chapters, plus a fully-playable introductory prologue Chapter and the Infinite Library procedurally-generated dungeon mode.

The full release will have more Chapters, the conclusion of the story plus additional abilities, outfits and tales to unlock.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The combat, AI and core gameplay systems are mostly done. We’ve also completed most of the art for the remaining chapters.

The game has been tested extensively, but there will no doubt be bugs and some performance issues.
There might also be some game mechanics that require re-thinking / refining once we've had some feedback. Vindit is an very small studio, so please manage your expectations when requesting features / changes!”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The game will be discounted whilst in Early Access.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Community feedback is the main reason we’re doing Early Access at all - all feedback is hugely appreciated. Please do drop us a line via the forums, email or Twitter.”

0.6.005 Patch

Hello everyone,

The 0.6.005 patch addresses the Quote save system. We’ve re-written a big chunk of it and improved the auto-save and UI. We’ve also fixed a number of bugs – details can be found on the public Issues tracker.

Linux is also now supported. This might be a bit more jittery than the Windows / OSX versions. Please leave any issues in the forums.

We’re currently focusing on Chapter 3 and 4. A big chunk of the art and gameplay logic has been completed. We still have a number of combat interiors to work on as well as backlog of quests, items and narrative. Lots to do still!

We greatly appreciate all your patience. We’re only a two-man team so progress will never be as fast as the larger studios. Also, to keep the lights on, we juggle contract work with Quote. So sometimes our attention is temporarily on other projects. However, don’t worry, Quote hasn’t been forgotten.

If you have any questions please do prod us on the forums on or Twitter (@VinditCo)

Combat patch

Hello everyone. We’ve just patched Quote’s combat system to feel a bit more precise and a little more dangerous.

The main fix has been to stop hitboxes applying damage to NPCs out of range and/or behind the player. We’ve also been playing around with the NPC attack values to make things a little tricker.

As you can see above, we're also working on updating the aggressive NPCs so they stand out a bit more. These changes should be in the next major update.

Please let us know if you think we’re on the right track or if you’d like it to be more challenging !

About This Game

Burn every book. Kill every author.

Quote is a beautifully twisted action role-playing game about cleansing the world of knowledge.

You are the chief inquisitor of Bliss, God of Ignorance, sent to eradicate all wisdom, science and culture. Let nothing survive the purge.

Hunt down those who would impose the tyranny of knowledge upon the world. Destroy their works. Bludgeon the very thoughts from their wicked heads with a wide array of explosive combat powers.

Only you can bring forth an age of blissful ignorance. Only you can save the world from facts and truth.

  • Explore a beautifully hand-drawn world, built from the ashes of a lost culture.

  • Feed sacrilegious books to your bizarre birdman sidekick Tatters to upgrade and unlock your powers and abilities.

  • Uncover the mysteries of a lavishly-narrated, twisted and darkly witty story.

  • Dish out divine retribution in style, with a frenetic, varied but accessible fighting system.

  • Take a break from the story to battle through Quote’s procedurally-generated Infinite Library mode. Find over 40 persistent unlocks, including new combat finishers, bonus stories and alternative costumes.

  • Inspired by traditional isometric action-adventure games, the works of Vonnegut, Carter, Bradbury, Eco, Huxley and many more, and the surrealist art of Hieronymus Bosch.

  • An ongoing, evolving tale: This release includes the first three chapters of the campaign. The remaining chapters will be added over the Early Access period.
