About This Game

Set in the shattered subway of a post apocalyptic Moscow, Metro 2033 is a story of intensive underground survival where the fate of mankind rests in your hands.

PC, Metro 2033 offers the same experience can be experienced on the Microsoft console, only something very remarkable in more. The adventure between the tunnel and the population of the Moscow metro, devastated by a nuclear holocaust and populated by monstrous creatures, then flows without major differences or content that can diversify the offer. Given that the title of 4A Games also supports the pad, referring to the online Games for Windows Live, the advice is trivial to use mouse and keyboard, but it can reduce albeit slightly annoying situations confusing that sometimes you go to create while in the shootings more excited. If the benefits are limited to the gameplay to the control system, the real highlight of this incarnation PC is the graphics that, for the price of a certain consistency in the system requirements, offers glimpses really wonderful. The lighting, volumetric fog and the effects of post processing in particular, are able to place themselves at the top of the genus light sources projecting in the environments a substantial amount of shadows while stirring with the dust present in the air of the tunnel and the ashes of the surface, in a constant alternation of light and shadow. The character models are the same, imperfect, played on Xbox 360 even though the support for DirectX 11, if in possession of a card that supports, allows the activation of tessellation which helps to make them softer and precise. The parameters on which to work to achieve the best yield in proportion to your system are not very many because, apart from the anti-aliasing and texture filtering, adjustable by hand, there should be entrusted to a number of sets preset: da Basso up to Very High, with this step and the one preceding it distinguished from each other by use of volumetric texture sharper, higher quality shadows and bump mapping more accurate, and also other details. With all the high reading on the test PC to 1440x900 they occurred several drops of fluid with peaks down to 16-20 even frame; passing the penultimate selection menu graphic, Alto, things change dramatically and the same scenes are well above 50 frames per second. This detachment is probably because in the first case the Analytical use anti-aliasing, very exorbitant in terms of resources. Metro 2033 is not so exaggerated as required to be fully enjoyed, it becomes if you want the best, although as you can see in the photos, the detachment is minimal. Owners of NVIDIA cards can also enjoy a full support for PhysX and 3D Vision.

This game made me question the face of mankind. It's going to be hard to find such realistic game as Metro 2033.
Turned off lights, set the difficulty on Ranger Hardcore, turned volume up.... ---> possibly one of the hardest video games I have ever played, but definitely one of the best.
The realism level on this game is jaw-dropping. People act naturally, atmosphere is amazing, you start to care about the protagonist and the events that happen.
It may look like the first part of the game is already challenging and the main character gets into every possible kind of trouble. You will get stuck in dark tunnels where mutants are roaming, you will run out of oxygen on the surface, assisst to the ugly shade of war between russian powers, at a time when they should help each other survive and many more.. But after the first half of the game you will realize all those things were just a preparation for what's coming.
I recommend you to play with Russian voice acting (and English subtitles), this is how the game was intended and it adds a new level of immersion. Also, if you have the guts, try playing on the hardest (and by far the most realistic) difficulty, like I did. It will turn out as a very rewarding experience.
Pros: +The most realistic FPS I have ever played, speaking of the accuracy with which the mankind was represented in a video game;
+ The attachment with the main protagonist;
+ The Ranger Hardcore difficulty;
+ Excellent atmosphere and voice acting;
+ Incredible graphics;
+ Replayability, for the other ending;
Cons: - Some bugs can be game-breaking and require restart of the level;
- Only a few Metro stations, in which you take a break from the harsh tunnels and surface;
- The AI is sometimes pathetic;

Overall, this game is a MUST for those who enjoy a FPS with a different approach than most others; a FPS where you are not a heavily-equipped soldier, but a normal living man in the stations whose destiny is about to be accomplished.

Pretty good idea and storyline, but in fact I wasn't so exited by playing it, some parts are really slow and made me feel bored, (it might be because I haven't read the book yet), but it is one of the scariest games I've ever played and made me want more of it ! I'm looking forward to Last Light ! I would say this game has it's moments. Sometimes it was for me hard to keep playing I wanted to be over it as soon as possible. Still there is one thing I didn't get - everywhere are mutants killing humans, and people just care about war within fascist and reds - so my question is why they weren't busy defending against mutants and had time and energy to spare on killing each other. I'm shocked they didn't wiped out themselves before mutants striked.

7/10

If you have bought Metro: Last Light first and enjoyed it, you should still buy this masterpiece, because even if the graphics arent the best, the story compensates it!:)
